Am I meant to be trying to stick to 1400 or my recommended intake from my BMI? I am on day 4 of dieting and so far have done wo days of 1400 and one slightly higher but at the bottom end of my BMI recommendation. Will I still lose weight on the RDI?

1400 or RDI?
Yes, you'll still lose weight using your recommended intake. In fact, you may find that you lose more weight as your body will be receiving the calories that it needs. If you stick to 1400 and that is a lot different to your RDI then your body will go into starvation mode and cling to your fat even more!
Stick to your RDI and you shouldn't be hungry and will find it easier.
Good luck
Hi rcut,
You need to put your details into the NHS BMI calculator, for your recommended calorie range, then I advise eating as much as you can, while still losing weight, so start at the higher end. It takes a while to get the level right, but you'll get there in the end.
If you start by eating too little, a) you're body will object and may go into starvation mode and b) as you lose weight and your allowance goes down, you have nowhere to go.

I have tried to stick to the 1400 whilst loosing weight but had the occasional day when I ate more and as long as it was less than the lower range of the RDI I was ok with eating extra. I was not hungry on 1400 but my recommended was 1600 so was not much extra than the 1400. Though I know some people their RDI was 2000, so in that case 1400 would be too low I think for that individual to maintain. Maybe have an ammount in between 1400 and your RDI and see what happens?
Good luck in whatever you go for
