Hi my health robems all started September 1916 after a really bad bought of food poisoning for which I had to be hospitalised with all sorts of drips like potassium magnesium etc. I know it attacked my nervous system and organs but now 8 months on I'm suffering from all the thyroid symptoms dry skin spooned finger nails hacks around my fingers all the time my hair had gone all frizzy and brittle and I feel every muscle and bone in my body hurts my veins in my legs are also playing up sore to touch just feeling horrible my doctor did mention an appointment with an endocrinologist if it never cleared up but I'm the words worst person for going to my GP . As I'm a full time carer and to busy looking after someone else . I'm on B12 injections forcaval capsules fultium D3 and just finish a course of iron as I was low in red blood cells .

Hello Liz061254 and welcome back to the Weight Loss Forum 😊 A few things have changed since you were last here so I shall give you a welcome as if you were a completely new starter, including a newbie badge 😊

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Is there anyone else in the family that can cover the caring whilst you get your health sorted and attend GP and hospital appointments? If not you can contact adult social services and ask for help caring for whoever you are caring for, they will do an assessment- even if you don;t want any help with the actual day to day care but just want a sitter whilst you attend appointments they should guide you in the right direction. have you looked at the carers uk website? Age Concern and the Red Cross used to offer a sitter service not sure if they still do, but social servives should know- it is in their interest to keep you healthy so you can keep being a full time carer. if you ignore your health because of your caring role eventually you will become too ill and won't be able to do the role temporarily and then things may become worse for the person you are caring for

Hi Liz, whether this is your thyroid or not these are symptoms which really do need investigation it's no wonder you're feeling rough, please go back to your doctor, you could be feeling heaps better if they get to the bottom of this and find the right medication, good luck 😀

I will make a point in going back to my Doctor this week as I know I can't go on like this for much longer I keep putting it down to my age but I know it's not . Needs sorting sooner rather than later as the weight gain is really getting me down as well .x
