Hello, I am a 69 year old female who is still recovering from flu virus after 5 weeks. I am feeling very lethargic, my vision and balance are affected and I have been left milk intolerant. Any thoughts on what I can do to be more like my active, cheerful self. I have a dog which I manage to walk for about 30 minutes twice a day but it is a struggle. All comments appreciated

Hello,
I think you should see the doctor as prolonged flu can lead to complications. Always better to get it checked out.
I think after a bout of illness it is difficult to get back into our old routine. I was sick also a few weeks back and am also struggling to get back into it.
Everyday I get up, get dressed, have breakfast then go outside and potter about out there for a good few hours. I find that doing something takes my mind off how I am feeling. Sometimes it takes a while to "enjoy" it but I make sure I get out.
Hope you start to feel better soon

Hello Barbara69 😊
You have my sympathy with regards to getting over the virus, these things can take a while to clear. You have to recover from the illness and then regain the lost fitness. 😕
With regards to things to help, trying to get outside in the sunshine will help, dog walking is excellent, but even just a ten minute walk to get a paper can lift the spirits on a sunny day. I don't know about your eating habits but eating a healthy varied diet, not only 5 a day but 7 if you can manage, and try to eat a variety of colours. If your tummy is off, which often happens after illness, natural yogurt is good for re-balancing the gut flora. I also take a Vitamin D supplement (with a cod liver oil capsule) This time of year many of us in Britain are vitamin D deficient. 😕
Sometimes just the action of taking control can boost our mood, and give a feeling of optimism and positivity 😊
Best wishes
Anna
