hi I'm currently suffering with tendonitis in both my Achilles tendons. And find it hard to do most things. And because of this my weight is up and down. Any tips would be grateful for a steady healthy diet.x
Tendonitis sufferer.: hi I'm currently... - Weight Loss Support
Tendonitis sufferer.
Hello kaycee11 and welcome.
Sorry to hear about your tendinitis. The good news is that you can still enjoy a healthy lifestyle, almost regardless of how active or inactive you are able to be.
One of the admins will reply later and they will probably mention the NHS 12 week plan (can be found on the right hand side of a computer screen from the 'Home' page). The plan uses calorie counting based on your BMI (links in the plan to find your BMI). I've used this since Jan and have lost nearly 15kg by still eating much of what I did but in smaller portions.
This is a friendly forum so feel free to post at any time if you have any questions or thoughts and someone is bound to respond.
Good luck!
Hi kaycee11 it is possible to lose weight without exercising lots of members here have mobility issues. Careful meal planning is a good tip. I lose more when I focus on low GI foods. Not all calories are the same so if possible cut out the sugar. For me calorie counting is working. Other people use weight watchers and slimming world. I used the NHS 12 week plan to get started and I thought it was brilliant. Good luck 😉
Morning kaycee11

Hi Kaycee sorry to hear about the Achilles pain.. I would suggest going to see a podiatrist that specialised in orthotics (something for inside your shoe). They can also help with other strategies to manage it. You can ask your gp to refer you to one or see one privately. Hope the dieting goes well and your pain resolves quickly.
I found rolling a frozen tin of beans under my foot very helpful for tendonitis. It's very painful isn't it.
I really sympathise, I too have suffered tendonitis for many years and no-one really understands the agony of the condition unless they've experienced it. It's a catch 22 cos you probably know that losing weight will bring some relief but it's hard when it's painful to simply walk. I have done several things lately. Your dr can refer you to Physio and they'll give you some stetches which can be painful but really help. This is how I manage the pain now. A bag of frozen peas can bring relief and helps to reduce the inflammation too. I had shock wave therapy last year and as painful as it was, it has virtually cured a condition that I had suffered for nearly 20 yrs. in terms of your weight, don't stress about the exercise for now, just concentrate on reducing portions, trying to eat sensibly with occasional treats and reducing snacking. As you lose a few pounds your confidence increases and you may feel like exercising. I always found swimming to be a great activity that didn't put pressure on my feet and ankles. Exercising doesn't come naturally to me but I am discovering that exercise helps me feel better so I am more encouraged by this. Good luck with this, hope you find some relief from this soon x x
Hi kaycee11, your post resonated with me as I've had problems with my Achilles' tendons for the last year and managed to gain 2st as a result. Even a short walk caused swelling as did walking up the stairs, so you truly have my sympathy. It's hard losing weight when you are less than mobile and in pain. I'm on the mend now which makes things easier, can let you know what eventually worked for me if of interest, otherwise I just wanted to wish you good luck with the weight loss and hope the pain goes soon. Delster
Hi Delster, I would love hear what worked for you. I have the same problem with both achilles and some times the pain is really bad. I walk the dog everyday but struggle to go far and the weight is piling on now.
Good luck Kaycee11. I know just how you feel. 🤕
