Hi I have an issue that is currently being investigated but I don't understand why my weight fluctuates. I lost 12 lbs in 1 week due to a loss of appetite and 3lbs the week after then it plateaued. This has gone on for 2 months. I still have a very reduced appetite and only have 1 meal a day which is usually soup as solid food makes me feel ill. My question is should I stay on liquid food until my investigation is concluded and if so should it be something like protein shakes etc?

I'm new to this and found this page by chance.
Have your doctor tested you for diabetes? Sometimes, weight loss is a symptom. What tests have you been given so far?
Hi my bloods have come back clear and stool samples also clear it's all a bit of a mystery
What tests did they do so far? Did they do an A1c test(3 month picture of blood sugars)? If the A1c is higher then 5.6 or higher, that may indicate possible diabetes.
I've had diabetes test all clear and plus thyroid etc all clear
Hi, if you're only eating one bowl of soup a day, I'd suggest (you may already be doing this..) making your own, as that way you can get as many nutrients as possible into it. Protein shakes are full of sugar or sweeteners and won't give you all that soup with e.g. chicken and plenty of vegetables can.
Hope you get to the bottom of what is wrong soon
Hi and welcome, Shaun
You haven't actually said whether you're overweight and looking to lose weight, but this is a support forum and we're not medically trained, so I suggest you ask your GP for advice concerning liquid foods/protein shakes.
Should all of your results come back clear and you do still want to lose weight, then take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
