Hi, recently had the shock of realizing I had been weighing myself on dodgy scales and actually 12llbs heavier than I thought! I have a desk job so recently joined the local leisure centre to try and kick start a metabolism that probably stopped when I reached 49. I hope to lose approx 20lbs over the coming year
Hello: Hi, recently had the shock of... - Weight Loss Support
Hello
Good luck. I just started today and have a feeling my scales aren't right as they are very old so went online on Asda last night and ordered some electric ones so will hopefully have a better idea when they arrive 😊
Good luck, I'm pleased I found out the true weight before it got any worse! Hope you findout you're old scales were not deluding you!
Got my new scales this morning and im nearly 1/2 stone heavier but i did have a feeling i was heavier than my old ones said. At least i know know.
Finding out my true weight has been a shock but helpful in giving me a strong incentive. I have joined the local leisure centre so went swimming and gym before work today. I feel better for doing something positive.
Me too had been fooling myself got huge shock when checked weight at work and was 12 st 5 a stone more than I thought and 31/2 stone too much
Hello KayGee and welcome to the weight loss forum ☺ Good luck with you leisure centre membership, exercise has so many benefits ☺
I hope you enjoy the forum, the first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺
Best wishes
Anna
Yes I have taken up swimming and am hooked! Got over enbarrassment of swimming costume bought a more flattering one and don't care what people think of my leg flab, at least I am trying. Have lost no weight but have lost a couple of inches off waist and feel better. Hoping weight loss will follow??
Hi, that's a great start. I too have not really lost any weight but feeling a lot more healthy. I think a change in being more active will eventually lead to weight loss and the sort that will be a permanent loss rather than a crash diet. I'm hoping I will loose approx 1 - 2 lbs a month. Alas no metabolism
I would be delighted if started to lose weight as am really trying hard now! Good luck with it too!
