Welcome to the Friday weigh in, time is flying by and another week as gone by.
This week in England we have seen some more shops opening. I have seen long queues while people are waiting to go in. Often hrs before they are due to open. I myself have not gone near to them. I have managed to stay away for 3 months so a few more weeks doesn’t matter to me. I wonder what your feelings are on this. Please let me know.
Now enough about me. This is were we tell us your weight. I hope the scales are good to you if not measure yourself you may have lost ins. If this is not the case look at how you were when you first started and you will see how far you have come. This thing is not to give up. It’s to start a new week and carry on.
This is a voluntary forum and we ask that you answer at least three other posts including the one directly ahead of you. We all like encouragement sometimes to help us on our way. Tell us also how your week has been.
To help the admin who enjoy giving badges to us write your stats as follows

Total loss.
If you are new to the forum don’t be shy we are all nervous to start with. Tell us your weight and a little about yourself. It would be nice to see your end goal, to start with short goals will help you along the way.
If I can get to my scales out after missing last weeks weigh in I will be back to weighing in. So now I wish you all the best.

My thoughts on the shops opening are very mixed Caroline. I know the economy needs to get back on its feet, but the amount of people that are just going ‘back to the new normal’ is quite frightening. I have no desire to be amongst them. I’m worried we will have another peak and more lockdowns to cope with. I’m with you, a few more weeks makes no difference to me. 😊
The town centre where I work is completely full every day since the shops reopened on Monday . People are sitting around , eating & it’s full of families having a day out.
The queues outside Primark & Sports Direct are crazy .
I’m positive we will get a 2nd wave & lockdown as people seem to think it’s back to normal (accept people aren’t going to work & like it is when the kids are on Summer holidays).
I agree that we Will have new cases considering that people do not follow the rules. It is normal to try to have fun and enjoy but just take care of yourself and others !!
Good Morning! The queue for some shops here have been shocking! I for one, am keeping well away, online shopping is the way to go for a little while longer I think!

A loss of 1lb this week which I will take! Still in deficit from my starting weight, typical that I would put on more weight when starting a diet than lose 😂.
Have a good day everyone and good luck all. I’m off to school to teach my lovely bubble!
Morning, Caroline62 and I agree with others, that it's woefully too soon to return to normality. We're told to 'shop with confidence' and for people who are shielding, that it's now ok to emerge, but I honestly don't see what's changed significantly. I honestly believe that the PM's defence of a certain individual has contributed to a lot of people thinking, if it's ok for him, then it's ok for me. That there will be a second wave of cases and fatalities, just nicely in time for the autumn and winter weather, is inevitable.
Right - I'm putting my soapbox away for now as I can feel myself getting angrier & angrier. If only I could burn some calories from my anger - I would have lost a few stone the past 3 months!
Anyway, enough of that...
I had put on half a kilo the previous week so last Friday decided my new strategy would be to extend my overnight fast from 7pm - midday. I did this successfully for 5 days but then on Wednesday I was insatiably hungry and badly overate - healthy food, but still too much of it. I'll only do the longer fast occasionally, rather than daily. I think it's more important for me to follow my appetite rather than the clock.
Start weight: (59 weeks ago): 70.2
Last week: 59.7
Today: 59.8
Sts
I'm a bit disappointed with that, especially as I'd weighed 59.3 last Saturday (it's always the way, isn't it?!), but I know I've lost inches so am feeling a sense of achievement from that instead.
You wouldn't have known how the longer fast would go without trying it and you learnt from it. Following your appetite sounds sensible, eat when hungry, stop when full
Hi RosB23 and that nutty Greek yogurt is lovely, isn't it? Sometimes I think I eat too much of it and maybe that's where I need to rein myself in a bit this week. Glad you like it ☺️
Oh no sorry about the scales not being good to you. That is a very tiny gain and I would call it a STS. I am the same I could go on more about the shops but as you say I also would be the same as you. People did stop listening after they stopped following there own rules.
Hi monday1957 I can understand in fact empathise with the slight disappointment after making a good effort. But really you are in a better place than you recognise. And if that’s true for you I guess it must also be true for me! 😃 It’s so much easier to be objective and positive about other people than about ourselves. Which is why Caroline62 ‘s quite this week is so good! 🙏
It’s weird as I ate breakfast at 10.30 am (instead of my fasting time of midday) but I’ve managed to hang on until 2.40pm for lunch without too much of a problem. Maybe cos I feel a bit more chilled out & just going with the flow man!
A mixed week for me. Had a couple of things I've not allowed for a while (2 X puddings) but then some very easy target days, so pleased to see a loss. I'm much happier with my appearance and think I'm going to aim for 76kg by the end of July as we have a family celebration then.
I broke the BMI barrier last week, now <25 and it's given me pause to reflect. A month ago I didn't have an endpoint in sight, I just wanted to shift some weight! As I've almost hit a number I was steady at for years I've realised I should keep going and aim for more. The healthy band is huge for a tall person. I could lose nearly 3st from my current weight and still be in the "healthy" bracket.
Well done for getting into the healthy BMI range! That’s a big target for me and moving to obese a huge incentive to lose weight! Happier now I’m in the overweight range but will be happier still in the healthy range. Well done. Also good to see weights reported in kg I’ll be doing so next week. Have a good week! .
Hi again, sorry the link doesn’t seem to be working. Posted here instead:-
Thank you. I honestly don’t know! I’m amazed. I think my body has reacted to the lack of carbs (other than fresh veg). I thought I had been eating far too much cheese and mayonnaise (yum!) normally with egg. I track my food intake every day on a fitness app as I like to know the macronutrients. From this site I learned to have around 20g of carbs or less a day and 180grammes of fat. Some days were over but I mostly have an average of 30g of (gross) carbs each day. I think on this regime it’s the first time I’ve really trusted it. For example I was tempted to not eat all of the cheese or double cream but I put my faith in the daily allowance and I enjoyed it! Absolutely no wine choc fruit bread pasta rice. The first few days I drank gin and soda with cucumber and mint or whisky and soda rather than wine, which I use to love! I seem to like (my body told me so!) a fresh mint tea after supper. I have been snacking on cheese and cucumber slices. And I am loving garlic mushrooms cooked in garlic butter and cream. Who’d have thought it?!!
Apologies the link doesn’t seem to be working. Copied here instead x

thank you so much, I really appreciate your comment and for all of your help. I think the first few days, even hours when I was posting questions and having them answered objectively and in detail was incredibly helpful especially as I had gotten a bit confused 😊 I’ll definitely continue to read and learn and ask questions. I’ve also found a new recipe that I’m looking forward to trying. 😋
Hello and thank you too for the warm welcome. (This message might come up twice no idea where the first one went!) I read once that the crunching noise of eating an apple is calming. Well I’m not eating apples (any excuse) so the crisping and crunching of the thins also has its benefits! Plus I love the saltiness and they’re full of iodine.
Hello everyone, hope you’ve all had a lovely week.
It was my first week back ‘on it’ and I have been easing myself in slowly and loosely calorie counting.
My mini goal to reach this week was to be back in the 11 stone bracket which I have just made by the skin of my teeth!
Starting weight: 12 stone 1.4 lbs
Last week: 12 stone 1.4lbs
This week: 11stone 13.8
Loss: 1.6lbs - will call it 1 and a half pounds.
Total loss - as above.
Overall I’m pleased as I was only easing myself back in, I have still had the odd treat but nothing like before. I have also upped my water intake and exercise and really feeling the benefits the last couple of days in regards to energy.
Goals for this coming week involve counting my calories more thoroughly and introducing more workouts on top of my walks.
In terms of weight, just to be firmly in those 11s will be good enough for me.
Re ‘earning treats’, I’d got into this crazy habit last year of having squares of dark chocolate at the end of the day as a reward for eating healthily all day 🤦🏽♀️
First weigh in for me after starting last week. Not a great week which I knew and results expected. The number I told myself I would never see on my scales!
New week let’s get on track ! Have a good week everyone 😀
It is the start of a new week and a fresh opportunity to try again. You have still come here and weighed in which I think is half the battle sometimes, I avoid the scales and think I’m less than I am!
Next week s another week and from your message it sounds as though you are aware of what you’ve been eating which is a huge step forward, plus you’ve logged in when you’ve put weight on. These are all massive steps. Give yourself time and you’ll get there 😊
Yes, it is an accomplishment to weigh in when the weight has gone up rather than down... I nearly didn’t post this morning cos of my 100g ‘gain’ (I know, I know!), but I’m so glad I did. Everyone’s been so supportive and it immediately cheered me up. As someone else has commented, we’re all in this together - such a positive feeling of camaraderie on here ☺️
Well done weighing in this week. That shows you have to stick-to-it-ness to succeed.
I know it's against the orthodoxy here, but I think kicking off with a period of low calorie eating. It really stops you getting disheartened later on. It's much easier to sanguine about a pound or two weight gain (which is inevitable) if your total loss is 1/2-1 stone or even more.
I started with a month of my version of Michael Mosley's Fast800, eating 500-1200 calories per day. In that time, I lost over a stone, and 4 inches around my waist. Since then I have had several periods of not losing any weight for weeks or months, but with that start, I have never even thought about giving up.
Hi Camilla123, I would really recommend a food tracking app to you. I find it to be an effective barrier. You think twice before reaching for something not so healthy as you then have to document it! The first few days I did it, I ate my normal diet and looking at it was quite sobering.
Do you know what you did wrong. Have you written what you eat down. If so look at it and you may be able to see were you went wrong or my be do a little tweet here and there. You are still with us have a look at the Daily Diary that may also help. You will be able to see what others are eating and get great ideas.
I know what I did wrong I didn’t tape my mouth shut after 8pm 😆 no I know where I went wrong so hopefully can fix it next week. Hope your getting on well 😀
Sounds as though you know what you did to gain that weight so you can learn from that. Put the week behind you, get back on track right now and that 1lb will drop off just as quickly as it went on.
Good morning everyone and thank you for hosting Caroline.
I had to do some shopping in town yesterday and left it until 5pm when it was quiet. I don’t see many people observing the 2m rule now when I am out, and as I’m visiting my parents I am being careful. The interesting thing for me as a result of lockdown is that it’s made me think about what I buy and how I shop. I worked in a main city centre and if I was low or if I’d worked really hard I would ‘treat’ myself. Working from home and not having choice has really made me think about ‘stuff’.
Anyway, I’m in a bleurgh period. I think the realisation that I’m now working from home permanently has hit home. My mental health is okay and I’ve been focusing on my motivation to lose weight, but I’ve not been able to put things in to practice. Each evening I am sitting in front of the tv and as a consequence I’ve been snacking.
Start weight. 14st 7lbs
Last week 13st 13lbs
This week 14st 3lbs
Gain +4lbs
Total loss 3lbs
All a bit of a shocker
I’ve started some exercise habits. Each time I go to the toilet immediately afterwards I do some squats, lunges and jumping jacks. It’s amazing how that starts to build some strength.
So my plan this week is to look at habits around my food and will aim to have a coffee or peppermint tea after I’ve eaten my meal. I’m tired in the evening which I know affects me making good choices and I think I’m bored as well, so I will get out my cross stitch to give my hands something to do as well.
Bit of a long post, well done if you got to the end 🙄
It can be hard to work at home permanently but you have begun to make good choices ( It is a good idea to do It after going to toilet). Do not forget that It is healthy to stand Up and walk often !!
Good luck for Next week!!
( I tried yesterday the trick of the 30 minutes: if you are going to snack wait 30 minutes. If you still want something drink a glass of water tea... And wait another 30 minutes. After that if still hungry eat something!!) It worked for me yesterday !!!
I know what you mean about treating yourself when you feel a bit down or worked especially hard .
When all the shops were shut I managed to stick to one weekly shop as I couldn’t face the queues but now the massive queues are gone I have found myself popping out of little shops & buying treats etc. I hope to stop this habit from sneaking back in .
😂 it's half the length of mine, but I don't expect anyone to read that!
I understand the bleurgh feeling. I get it too.
A mental trick that works for me (mostly!) is to focus on my overnight fast that only starts at the end of the last snack. If you have noticeable muscle, that weights something.
Waist is a better indicator of body fat than weight. Make sure you track that.
I'm a natural evening grazer! It's been the toughest thing I've cracked in the last month. I now equate that cup of mint tea with success!! It's really that crucial for me. You know that's what you're working on, so I'm sending you anti-snack vibes!
Working from home tipped me into the overweight category, so I can really sympathise with how that's making you feel.
The 2 metre rule I don’t think as ever worked not in some of the shops any way. A lot of the streets are also not wide enough. I as one who would look in shops every day as changed completely. Shop 1a week really only for meds and a little fruit and veg. Everything is on line. Just fresh stuff doesn’t last a week.
I also unfortunately had to throw some food out this week and I hate this.
I am also in a bad place not from work as I am retired. I have got the decorating done just waiting for the new floor which is not being done till 10 July. So my place is up side down like my food eating. I have been stuffing my face in the evening. We can do this and we will do this so you and me are on a journey together this coming week and months. How ever long it takes.
Take care and keep save we are in this together. Hugs for you 💐😊😊
Awww Caroline......thank you. We’ve also had some decorating done and what a mess it’s made, it does throw you out completely doesn’t it. You’re right, we’ve been on here a long time, we will do this😊
You won't be the only one that has been left thinking about and where we shop. It has also made me realise that there are things I am happy to do without. I have changed the way I shop as I don't want to be in contact with others if I can help it (trying to keep safe to look after 3 vulnerables). I have never been one to enjoy shops anyway, so I suppose that has made it easier.
As for having to work from home, I can understand how this could have an impact. The lack of the social contact must be quite strange and I'm sure that the boredom is partly due to the lack of motivation needed to get out of the house. Do you make sure you go out and walk every day?
The snacking could be put right by lowering carbs and adding fat, it has made a world of difference to me in that respect.
Would it help if you joined in with the DD again do you think?
I think you have a great plan for the week and introducing your hobbies again will help to keep your hands busy in the evenings. I haven't done cross stitch for ages. I have one on the go, but have got bored with it.
Thanks for a thoughtful post H61g yes I did make it to the end😃
I share your problem of bad decisions late in the evening. I’m thinking maybe go to bed a bit earlier. Also someone here made a great suggestion about brushing teeth immediately after the last planned food in the evening to draw a line.
Congrats on your exercise plans. You might want to add some core ones like plank if not already in there.
I really like your strategies for eliminating the evening snack temptations. It resonated with me when you said you tend to make poor food choices when tired or bored - absolutely, that’s me all over!
I’m a great believer in brushing teeth straight after tea, as even if my hub has got the crisps out, I can’t be faffed to do that palaver a second time, so I’m able to resist. But more importantly, doing lchf, I no longer feel the need to snack anywhere near as much (I’m not a saint - sometimes I do!)
I also type up my DD posts after tea, which distracts me, and reply to text messages. Recently, I’ve also seemed to give up the habit of going in the living room straight after tea & automatically switching the box on, as well. So I’ll sit in the kitchen and read instead. So hub gets to watch his SAS Celebrity thing and I get to read my book & not look at his crisps!!! 🤣
I’ve found drinking peppermint tea helps curb my snack cravings in the evening.
It sounds like you are having to adjust to a big change to working from home. I listened to something on the radio this afternoon, where they were talking about how home working will be far more prevalent post coronavirus, but that it will take time for the majority of those who face the change to adapt to, so I think all things considered you shouldn’t be too hard on yourself.
In a hurry today so my numbers and a goal for Next week.
Initial weight 79.1
Last week 72.4
This week 72.0
Loss 0.4
Total loss. 7.1
However i am not very happy. I know most of the recent fluctuacions in weight are just water movements. I have increased my carbs intake and, what is worst, my chocolate. On monday i ate a whole tablet after lunch. 😭😭. So resisting chocolate temptation is my goal!
If you can lose weight while eating a tablet (how much is that?) of chocolate, that sounds like a victory.
If you are eating a lot after lunch, you should look at your lunch. I'd suggest either increasing the amount of food, or increasing fats and reducing carbs.
Thanks (a whole pack of chocolate around 125 gr). I worry because It is just not sustainable- i can not eat 125 gr per day and still lose weight - not hungry ... Just like It and cannot stop (at least last week).
Get your your hands on a bar of Montezuma's Absolute Black. No dairy, no sugar. 100% chocolate.
I challenge you to eat two squares of it at a sitting.
I bought a block before lockdown. I still have half left. I like it, but I never think of it. It's a completely different experience to sweet chocolate. I just took a bite of it. There is not the same pleasure on my tongue, but my brain lit up.
Hi xx2000, by the sounds of it your slip up with chocolate was only on Monday so well done for spotting it.
I know the temptation is real with chocolate! What I recommend is buying a really nice quality dark chocolate... usually a square or two satisfys a craving for me rather than a whole bar.
How about keeping it in an opaque container out of sight? This has helped me. We used to keep our biscuits and choc in a frequently used cupboard and would see it every time I made a cup of tea... The difference now that they are out of sight has been that we rarely even think to eat them.. of course now that they are a bit more awkward to reach it is a good deterrent.
Thanks. Used to have the chocolate in a kitchen cupboard but siince lockdown It is on the table next to the armchair. Next step: take It back to the kitchen. This way if i want some at least have to walk to the kitchen.
I am in two minds about the shops opening. I don't have any trousers that can stay up without a belt, and my "good" trainers have holes in them formed since the lockdown started. Not everyone who has lost or gained weight in lockdown has the economic flexibility needed to order multiple items in different sizes and return those that don't fit. And with trainers, finding a pair made with the correct last, with the right instep etc etc takes multiple try-ons. Mind you, I don't know if you can do this in stores now, either. Then I read about the whole of NZ going into meltdown over two (two!) covid positive women not being quarantined (no prizes to guess where they had just come from) and Australia talking about a spike of 20-something cases, while we are getting an estimate 5000 new cases a day. 🤷♂️

Mid week I felt bloated, pulled out the tape measure, and it showed 4cm bigger than last Friday 🤯. There was wine and snacking involved - low carb snacks, but still calories. I'd also been reading about alternatives to BMI this week, and reconfirmed that waist is a better indicator of body fat. So I doubled down on the fasting - shortened my eating window and eliminating wine and thus snacking. That did the trick. I am trying to decide if this is a healthy pattern or not. I think it's OK; my long term plan is to maintain with low carb and fasting as necessary. I still want to get the waist below 70cm before then 🤞
Waist
25 Nov 2019: 91cm
Last week: 71cm
This week: 72cm
Gain: 1cm
Total loss: 19cm
Weight
Start weight (October 19th) 85.4 kg
Last week 67. 3kg
This week 66.4kg
Loss:.900g
Total Loss: 19kg
(I'd rather it was the other way around and my waist was smaller, but it's still better than it looked like it was going to be midweek)
Yes I find that retailers can take up to a few weeks to refund returns via online. It puts me off and prefer to go to the shops if I can.. that being said I am staying away from the high street for another few weeks.
Good to experiment with a new method such as fasting - you can see if it suits you and your lifestyle.
You are so close to your goal of 70cm waist measurement so keep going and you will get there
I am happy enough now with a belt in my jeans (plus I don't want to invest until I am at a weight I am happy with) but trying on jeans if I don't know my size can involve trying on half a dozen or more pairs. It's not practical to do that online. Especially as I will want my new jeans to hug my figure not just fit, so may want to try a cut I couldn't wear before.
I actually started with fasting (Michael Mosley's Fast800), but I am ringing changes to see what can shed my last few kg.
When you need to go to the shop to get something you need is a different matter you have to go. It’s all the folk that go just for the sake of it. I am sure in 3 months while the shops have been closed means they have nothing to wear or towels have all worn out. Each to them selves. Just be careful and go when you feel it will be quieter.well done on your loss this week. I am sure your smaller waist will come very soo. You take care. 😊
I haven't been to the shops (well, supermarket and cafe) but I do sympathise with those who have.

My first non-food shopping trip was on Wednesday to buy my son new school shoes, properly measured and all, as he’s going back on Monday, then they told us the children were to go in in their home clothes. Huh.
• in reply to
Good luck with your son going back to school on Monday. Sorry you didn’t really need to buy them as he can go in own cloths. What can I say. 😊😊
• in reply to
Let’s hope he does not grow before September? At at least no urgency to sew on name tapes??!
Annoyingly we can’t return because of Covid risk 😱. The school were being very vague about everything & I got ahead because my child is growing like a weed (noticeably thinner every day btw). Maybe he’ll be able to wear the shoes in the autumn for a fortnight...
Well. It seems they aren’t allowed to do any changing at school so he needs to go inPE-ready stuff. I was wrong about the return actually but dear me, the faff of returning & the need for another shoe appt in Aug... 😱
That's a lovely loss from your waist, and a weight loss as well. That's a good week in my books.
I don't think shoe shops have opened again yet. When they do, I hope that they will keep the numbers in, very low. I have grandchildren that are in desperate need of some properly fitted shoes!
Well done for your mid-week course correction and overall results 👍 I’ve reached the same conclusions as you about waist vs BMI (altho in my case there is still plenty of room for progress on both without selecting 😂) Are you thinking about strength training to increase muscle mass? That will raise your basic metabolic rate and can help with visceral belly fat (but obvs not with BMI.)
How many days a week is your weight routine? I started out 3x week but soon switched to 2x as recovery isn’t as quick as last time I did regular weight training. 😂 Time of day can also impact sustainability - I can do cardio anytime but I can’t do weights first thing. (Sorry if all that’s already included in how you drew up your routine)
I don't need to plan how often I do it until after I do it once. 😂 So far, I haven't done enough to give myself DOMS; as I am untrained, that means I almost certainly haven't done enough load to require rest.
😂 love that approach! Joking apart, if you are untrained you really will want to take a graduated approach. Lots of stuff on YouTube to show you how, including using bodyweight at home with minimal equipment. Check several to weed out idiots, amateurs or cultists.
My top tips (not from expertise but from recent experience as a false beginner) would be to focus on good form over reps, to ensure the right balance between push, pull, lower body and core, to progress carefully (but unlike cardio you do need to progress not just repeat the same thing), and to ensure adequate rest days. Looking forward to hearing how it goes 💪💪😂
Good morning fellow Friday morning weighers! Excited to be posting for my second week on Friday’s Weigh in.
Thanks for hosting Caroline62
I am following a calorie deficit weight loss plan for 12 weeks and using the NHS weightloss app.
Waist
Start 03/06/2020 : 38 inches
Last week : 37 inches
This week: 36 inches
Loss: 1 inch
Total loss: 2 inches
Weight
Start weight (20/05/20) :75.3kg
Last week's weight: 72.2 kg
This week: 72.2kg
Loss/Gain/STS -STS
Total loss: 3.1kg
My first mini goal is to reach 70kg by 05/08/20.
Things I’m proud of this week:
1. I take progress photos on a Monday; I’ve noticed a difference in my back area compared to week 1 – counting this as a success. From my measurements I’m sure it’s an inch or two off my waist area.
2. Main thing I am celebrating this week is that I’m feeling so much better than before I started this. I plan my exercise at the top of the week and it’s just become something I now do. Feeling so proud of that. No change on the scales this week but can feel how much stronger I feel when out for my walks & runs.
3. The scale did drop to lower values this week but STS for Weigh day. I’m trusting in my healthy habits & don’t feel deterred at all. I’m still on track for first mini milestone of 70kg by 05/08/2020. This is allowing for 0.5kg loss per week.
I promise to do a proper post about this, but waist is a much better measure of both percentage body fat and the amount of visceral fat (the kind that can kill you). With that excellent loss, you should ignore weight all together. It's just plasma volume, or digestive system contents or whatever.
thank you Subtle-badger, if I wasn't in this forum I would not have thought to measure my waist as a way to track my progress but by the sounds of it it's key!
I have taken back some control this week, kept my carbs lower, stopped eating berries and cream most nights, cut back on the cheese and nuts.
Start weight - 16st 7lbs
Last week's weight - 14st 13lbs
This weeks's weight - 14st 11lbs
So a loss of 2lbs.
Last week I gained 1.5lbs much to my annoyance and I was more annoyed when the following day I hadn't gained that 1.5lbs, so although that loss looks good, in reality I think last week's gain was just a fluctuation and I have probably only lost 1/2lb this week, but I am happy with that
Well done lucigret having a loss this week. That’s great. The scales do this sometimes. I am sure there is a little man or woman inside them and laughing at us and playing game with us. That’s what I tell myself any way.
Hi lucigret. The weight loss journey is not always linear so I feel your frustration! Your weight loss is definitely going in the downward direction so whether is 2lbs or 1/2lb you are doing really great so keep up the good work
I would love to be 14 stone something, you have done really well. Sorry to hear about the annoying fluctuation, but you are certainly moving in the right direction!
Well done on the loss lucigret. You sound like you've had a really positive week and are back doing the things you need to do. All the best for next week. 😃
Hello Eleanor welcome to the Friday weigh in this is the right place to give your weight. Tell us your start weight and short goals and if you wish something about yourself. 😊
Good morning all and thank you Caroline62 for hosting.
I haven't been out shopping yet. On Monday there were too long queues at my local shopping centre and surely not enough distance between customers so I changed my mind and went back home.
Just pop back with your starting weight and your goals, then take some time to introduce yourself to your fellow Feelgood Friday Folk and encourage them on their weight loss journeys.
All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially the daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Welcome to the Fridays team. Good luck for Next week!!
Morning All.
I have been on here a week, cutting out the snacks which typically consist of a bar of chocolate and at least half a pack of biscuits a day, and maybe the random slice of cake or scone.
Not much change on the scales, but early days. I am using an old mechanical scale, so I need to buy a new digital scale soon, much easier to read!

A sts is good. It often takes time for the weight loss to start. I know from experience. Have a good week. 😊
It can take a few weeks to get going. Stick with it and great to have you joining us
Good morning my friends, I didn’t weigh last week as my place was upside down with the decorating. Now it’s done and now waiting for the new floor. This will not happen till 10 th July. Any my place is still a bit upside down. I did get to the scales. I now wish I hadn’t. I was expecting a little gain.
Starting weight on here 16 st 2 lbs
Last weigh in 13 st 12 lbs ( 2 wks ago. )
This week 14 st 2 lbs
A gain of 4 lbs.
I have still just lost 6 stones from start of weight loss.
I am so annoyed with myself as I have just let my self go. For me it is so easy to put the weight on. I am going back to basics writing down everything.
It sounds like you're completely accountable and moving on. I admire you for getting on those scales when you have suspicion! Writing down my food intake is completely key for me. I wonder how I'll be when my training wheels come off? We'll see!
Big picture here, your overall loss is amazing, 6 stone is my target weight loss and I’ve just started my journey. Can I ask how long it took you to lose that?
You knew it would be a gain and I’m sure you know where it went wrong. Back on it this week, good luck 👍🏻
That feeling of being annoyed with oneself is really horrid, but you have done so well. Don't be too hard on yourself. I hope you have a much better week.
Hello Feel Good Friday people. Thank you Caroline62 for hosting, and for a very apt quote.
Start (31 Mar): 92.5 kg
Last Week: 85.5
Today: 86
Change: +0.5
Total Loss: -6.5
A second week of gain after two weeks already static. I’m not surprised.
Negatives are slightly increased portion sizes, more carbs than the strict limits I had before (was zero pasta, bread or potato) and several line-crossers: three ice creams, one beer, one Macdonalds, one peanut butter late night snack attack.
Positives are that I still basically eat good natural food, still practice IF, and still keep my workout schedule despite uneven motivation levels.
It was a difficult week in mindset terms. A cousin who was more like a big brother in my life passed away after a long illness. I also had one large and a couple of minor business setbacks and delays.
But putting on weight doesn’t help me to tackle any of that and just adds another negative to the list. So this week I’ll do what I already know I need to do to change direction.
So sorry for your loss. Please be kind to yourself in this hard few days. You have also had a tough time at work. It is very difficult to stay on track when you think ever thing is against you. Draw a line under this week’s gain and start again. Look after yourself and stay save. 😊😊
I am really sorry for your loss. Don't be too hard on yourself, you have obviously had a tough time and you know what to do longer term so I am sure you will get there.
Hi Caroline62 I signed up last week and I have done quite well losing a kilo in 1 week I think is ok.
Start weight 79.4kg
Todays weight 78.3kg
I have been writing all food and drink down to keep check on what I am consuming and watching the portion sizes and it seems to work for me. Also I have been trying to walk more which gives me time to think which is good x
I have no excuse as I have not been working since March so I need to get fit and healthy and like to be 60-65kg. It will take time but I will get there in the end x
I would love to hear from anyone on this weightloss journey and read your stories as it is aspiring x
Great start well done. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to weight loss. I have 6 stone to lose and have set a target of 18 months. Long term goal bit realistic for me. Good luck on your journey.
Hi, about other people's stories, how about using the Daily Diary? It's a great way of planning and is very sociable so you'll hear how others are getting on. Don't just be a weekly visitor
Hope you have time to get back here today and chat to some of the others: that way, you'll begin to learn their stories and feel part of the Friday gang
Thanks for the advice still trying to navigate the site. It will be nice to talk to people as it is good to share experiences and tips for healthy eating and weight loss x
I agree with BridgeGirl, joining in with other groups/challenges on the weight loss forum will help you to get to know lots of people who will be happy to tell you their story.

People’s reaction to the shops opening are as mad as the dash for toilet paper was 3 moths ago! As it happened I was in town yesterday and it was raining so all the shops were quiet, no queues anywhere and lots of sales on, even got two skirts for M&S for 89p each 😳
Anyway back to weight loss.
Start weight: 17.11.5
Last Week: 17.6.75
This week: 17.4.75
Loss: 2lb
Total Loss: 6.75lb
Very pleased with my progress, I’m making better choices everyday, not filling my plate. It’s ok to put food back in the fridge or only eat 1/2 a chocolate bar 😁. I have also measured myself at various points, not confident enough to put them here but I have something to keep track as well as weight.
I made a real effort this week and did fast for 1 night but not very much fasting. As in not a proper real fast as had 2 pieces toast with vegemite at 4.30 pm then nothing till morning.
Will try and do a real one like from 3.30 in arvo til next day.
Slow progress but good for me too. So determined to get into the 76kg this week coming.
What plan are you following? If you want to fast how about starting off with 16/8 fasting.
Eating in an 8 hour window is not hard to do. I no longer eat breakfast, have lunch and dinner and don't snack between meals. It surprising how quickly you get used to it.
There doesn't seem much point to fasting if you are then going to be starving. Dropping carbs and adding fats would help you to achieve it.
hi caroline 62 ,this sukicur.a month ago i weighed 88.4k i decided something had to be done hence nhs diet plan.i planned my calorie intake .over the weeks my weight gradually came down without feeling hungry.idrink loads of water.i weighed this morning at 85.1k my goal is around the 12stone 8lb mark ,best wishes
Welcome sukicur that’s a good weight loss. Why not join us weekly and share your stats with other members. That way we can help each other along the way. 😊
I guess things have changed many times since then but at the time we were allowed per day:
3 fruit - ( one to be citrus), limitless rhubarb, good to put in a jelly, small banana.
3 bread - which included pulses, potatoes, cereals. ( Sensible portions -1 slice of bread) 1 digestive biscuit!
limitless vegetables and salad with some exceptions (beetroot)
4 oz cheese a week which you could grate up and add to cottage cheese to make it last longer.
1 portion of protein at each meal. Chicken, fish, oily fish drained, fat cut off meat etc.
3 dairy - Skimmed milk, low fat natural yogurt and add your own fruit.
I can't remember the actual portion sizes but not big. Very little butter but spreads are good these days.
Baked beans can be livened up with curry powder or paste and taste better on slice of toast without butter.
I always kept a milk portion for bedtime to make a half milk half water decaf coffee with sweetener and a digestive biscuit. It's hard to sleep with a rumbling tummy!
This was before WW meals and low calorie foods were available.
The weekly weigh in and support from other members helped.

You are doing ok sukicur you are here and you can ask as many questions you want. Someone will probably be able to answer you from here. You take care. 😊
Thank you for hosting Caroline62 and love the quote. I have missed a couple of weeks through being busy and general forgetfulness. Nearly forgot today too! Like you I am in no rush to go to shops. What's a few more weeks. But I never liked shopping anyway so I don't feel I have been missing out. I miss being able to hug my family and friends more.
Anyway, over the last few weeks I have gained 2lb and lost 2lb and a few ounces so basically the same.

I started some personal training sessions and have had some long walks which is what helped shift the 2lb back off. I felt I could easily have gone down a slippery slope at that point so I am happy with where I am right now.
