I'm almost 65 and my metabolism is slow. Would like to loose some weight to feel and look better but have a hard time staying on task and I like to eat carbs, which I know is a BIG problem.

Hello and welcome bbecker ☺
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. You are not the only one who struggles with carbs 😕 bread is my nemesis!!! But it's important to eat some, I try to eat wholemeal and limit the quantity ☺
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture. It can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate. ☺
The forum also has group weigh-ins every day, but they are quite busy. If you wish to take part Sunday is the quietest day but you are welcome to join any day. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the 'home' page, or at the very bottom (after all the posts) on a mobile.☺
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺
Best wishes
Anna
Welcome bbecker and good luck with your journey on here, please do not be afraid to ask any questions on here as there will always be somebody who will be able to answer your question in one way or another. We have to make sure we eat enough calories to actually lose weight so do make sure you check your bmi index. I never used to eat enough and always put on weight because my body thought I was starving it, so turned what I did eat into fat instead to keep it going. This weighs more.
If you would like some recipes without carbs there are some on here and also you may find a large choice on the NHS website in the recipe section. I found plenty of choices to assist me here.
I don't know if you use sugars in drinks or on cereals but it would be good to gradually change these to sweeteners with zero calories as when I did this many years ago I ended up losing 3 stone, I wasn't even on a diet at the time so I was ecstatic.
All the best!🤞👍🎉
Yes I agree. You have to eat regularly to help keep your metabolism at a higher speed. We all need carbs in our diet but most of us do need to cut down on them. Also it's often what we put with them which is fattening ie butter on jacket potatoes. x
Hi, I am still 32 but metabolism is really slow. I can lose 5-10 kilos but it becomes pretty hard to lose after that. Currently on deoxyva weight loss trial coupled with walking and increasing green veggies intake. It is hard to really go away from carbs but if you try to eat green leafy vegs first youll find your self full then you can still eat some carb but not that much.
Is that the microcirculation therapy? I've read about that these days, it's benefits in our body and how it affects over all health. I am no stranger with the concept because I know that by just bathing in hot spring water, it has almost the same health impact to those in that type of therapy, probably better if it is handy. I have yet to try it though.
Exercising but moving fast helps and also eating fruit and drinking lots of water especially fizzy water.
