Hi Busman58,

Welcome to the NHS Weight loss forum, and many Congratulations on being nicotine free for a month - you've done brilliantly to achieve that.

There's a 'Welcome Newbie' post in the Pinnned posts area - so do have a look at that - and I hope you'll enjoy being part of this great forum.

Have a really good week.

Zest :-)

Brilliant⭐ I admire anyone who can kick the smoking habit just wish my hubby had some will power to do it but nothing works.😢

Buy yourself a pair of smaller pants ( a few sizes smaller) each month try them on, you will fit them eventually. This morning I got out my clothes from many years ago that I had outgrown lol, all but 4 out of about 30 fit it's been a long time coming but my goodness those other 4 will fit soon I am determined. Then.... New wardrobe time ( getting my own back on hubby for his ciggie waste of money lol)

Go for it you will soon feel the benefit and I bet once the weight starts falling off you will feel brill. Keep a picture of the larger, ciggie in mouth you that will promote you to get fitter.

Best wishes and once again massive congrats on the huge addiction you have mastered. ⭐😊👍

Hi and welcome, Busman :)

Well done for ditching the cigs, you'll never regret that :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Congratulations on quitting smoking. That's the biggest battle you'll ever fight. I stopped after 50 years smoking so know how hard it is. Just set small achievable goals for your weight loss for the time being as it's not easy fighting two demons at once and it takes a while for the nicotine monster to finally admit defeat. Goid luck.
