In a quest to be the right weight for a 5ft 2 stature, whereby I can plot my 57 years in dress sizes, have tried most diets and got perilously close to having a gastric band, any tip s for replacing carbs and sugars in my diet, a self confessed carb sugar and chocoholic.

Carbs and sugars
I am a little shortie too (4ft 9") and 54 years old and disabled so very reduced mobility (use a wheelchair outside of the house).
Have found sugar and carbs really don't help me in losing weight!
I am following the Blood Sugar Diet which aims to cut out sugar and processed carbs. I concentrate instead on small amounts of healthy fats.
It's worked really well for me....
See my post earlier this week: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
try using dates, chopped, added to stewed apples, stirfry veg,to get the sweet taste,😊
If u have any sugars in drinks and home made foods or cereals, try replacing them with zero calorie sweeteners it is hard to start with and I had to use 2&1/2 to 3 spoons of sweeteners to start with then dropped it to 2, eventually I dropped it to 1 by adding about 1/2 spoon and then dropped it to one and I did this years ago and lost three stone without doing anything else and kept it off for 10 years. The only reason I increased by 2 stone was because of a milkshake I thought was normal that I fell in love with so had one most days and found out it was a meal replacement. Silly me. Now I also find with a lot of sweet products including chocolate I can't have much of it anymore as it tastes too sweet for me to have much, this also does help with keeping the weight off.
Thanks for your advice, I need to read my Glycaemic Load diet more thoroughly to get my head round what's best to eat.
I'm with Pineapple - I too follow the Blood Sugar Diet, but think of it as a new way of life, not a diet. You just have to wean yourself off - away - don't eat - sugars. They are not a necessity in your eating plan and are easily replaced by a limited (no gorging) amount of fruit. I stay away from carbs as a rule, but don't get in a tizzy if they turn up occasionally. I just find it best to think that my old way of eating caused me to gain weight, so I need a new approach to food. Hard but it's what I want for me. I'm 5ft 2in, 55 this year and want to be able to move easily and have a healthy life. I know I could do with shedding a few more pounds (currently 9st 8lb), but am not beating myself up - as long as I do not gain, I'm ok. If I lose, then I reset my target weight downwards, never up!
Thanks for your advice, taking all this on board, now need to get down to serious menu planning, making sure the other half gets his carbs!
