I completed my first day today and wrote down what I ate. Generally I did ok...I realised that I was hungry and snacked on a packet of crisp and two sweets. ( I took my children swimming and was so hungry afterwards...) However I reflected and noticed that I ve had carbs in every meal...would this hinder the weight loss. thanks

carbs...
High GI carbs will leave you feeling hungry, because they spike an insulin response and upset your blood sugar levels. You may like to have a look at these phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

I tend to eat carbs at each meal somehow I can get away with it as long as it’s only a small amount and as long as you are using up the calories it’s not too bad, it’s when you don’t use the energy then it turns to fat as such! It’s all about balance I think x
Yes, it will work against you, Stawberry. So will not eating enough.
It's a good idea to write down everything you eat, especially in these early weeks. Make sure you have three good meals, with the right stuff in them, so you're not feeling hungry and not tempted by crisps etc
I certainly see different results on the scales when i have weeks where i eat more veg based meals than bread / pasta / rice / potato based meals.
I now try to limit including those items to just 1 meal a day (although sometimes it's 2 but i lower the amount i have).
It can be hard to start with to lower carbs - i certainly found it was as i was used to bread for breakfast, lunch and pasta / rice or potato at dinner. Using these a bit more sparingly, changing to wholewheat where possible and looking to substitutions like sweet potato, parsnip, celeriac, carrot, swede for mash or adding more veg and not having new potatoes / mash can all help
Thank you for your thought provoking question, it has been really useful to see the replies and re watch the video.
Good question and it got some really good answers. I know how hard it can be to plan for yourself as well as for your children, but maybe take some nuts and / or a full-fat Greek yoghurt for after swimming... for the kids as well as you?
Good luck
Loads of good advice here.
You will find your way!
Look at Lchf , I think included in Moreless reply.
Once you have a successful plan.....it gets easier!
thanks everyone for the good advice..
Hello Strawberry, It is my first day writing down, did find a last packet of rolos tidying the cupboard. Still well within the calorie allowance. Good luck!
