Got to lose weight for my friend's wedding !

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie on here. Four years ago I joined a diet and fitness club and successfully managed to lose 2.5 stones, however since last June I've had pneumonia and repeated chest infections, so I have felt rubbish. Consequently I have not been able to exercise, and I've been comfort eating ( and boozing) so have put all that weight back on. I'm now feeling much better, and I've just received an invitation to a very good friend's wedding at the end of May. This was just the incentive I needed to get a grip on myself and get back to healthy eating and exercise, so here I am. I started my own diet and fitness routine two weeks ago and have already lost 8lbs! I know my weight loss will now slow down a bit, but with being on this forum, I'm hoping you will spur me on to reach my goal, to get into the wedding outfit I have already bough two sizes too small, lol!

Hi and welcome, gothnanny :)

Well done for losing 8lbs already, that's great :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Thank you for such a warm welcome. It's good to be part of a forum to motivate, encourage and inform, I'm sure I'm going to find it helpful.

Hi I'm a newbe to .. I also have a wedding next year so I'm hoping to be many stones lighter by then .. it's just the getting started and preparing my way of thinking that is my draw back if you know what I mean .. I give in too easily and by doing that I'm getting bigger and bigger 😔

Hello Scottsgirl, I've certainly found that your mind has to be in the right place to tackle a diet and fitness regime. I found that when I got on my scales two weeks ago to find that I had put back on the 2.5 stones it took me months to lose, was just the "trigger" I needed! Also the wedding invitation arriving at the same time made me wake up to the fact that I must do something! Good luck!
