If you look to the right of your screen, John, you'll see a Topic titled Hints and Tips, I'm sure you'll get all sorts of assistance there and the Welcome Newbie thread is full of them too. I hope you've filed your thread under the correct topic too, in case there are some new gems for us
Good luck
What did it for me was cutting out or right back on the "white stuff" - bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. And plenty of green veg (all that grows above the ground!). But everybody is different. Good luck.
But as far as I know all vegetables are nutritious. So, this will help me to lose weight?
You got to watch for the starchy veg, they raise your blood sugar levels and that not good for healthy weight loss. As I say I've lost a slow 24 lbs over about 4 months, got my BMI into healthy range and got my blood sugar level back to normal. Also blood pressure dropped quite dramatically to a very normal level for an active 72 year old male! But as I said, everybody is different. This site gives lots of ideas, and, very importantly, great support and encouragement!
I believe that people overeat because they are not getting enough nutrients. make sure you get enough carbs, fats, proteins and micronutrients every time you eat, oh and enough calories too and you will automatically stop over eating. If you are hungry and reach for low nutrient food such as a biscuit or a doughnut or a bag of crisps your body will soon cry out for more and then you eat more of the same but still don't get enough nutrients and so a vicious circle and a bad habit or even an addiction begins - all because something is missing such as fat or carbs or vitamins. Every meal and snack should be balanced.
