Hello Danielleliza a and welcome to the weight loss forum ☺

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. 2 stone in 8 weeks is quite a lot of weight, but you will feel so much betterather, and its always good to have an event to aim for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, but they are quite busy. If you wish to take part Sunday is the quietest day but you are welcome to join any day. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the 'home' page, or at the very bottom (after all the posts) on a mobile.☺

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Hi Danielleliza, It's a very exciting time! My daughter got married four years ago and it was a fabulous day. Well you are in the right place here to start on your weight loss journey, but you might have to set your sights a little more realistically. If you read all the pinned posts here, you will realise that healthy weight loss works out at 1-2 lb per week. If you haven't been following any weight loss regime before, you might find you get a bigger loss for the first two weeks, but if you eat sensibly, it will settle to 1-2lb weekly. This is sustainable. You can't keep it up trying to eat less than about 1200 calories per day. But look on the bright side - if you start now you could have lost 16lb by the big day. You will look and feel great with that sort of loss, trust me! It is definitely achievable. Good luck, we are here for you, and look forward to seeing the pictures!

Hi Danielle... looks like it's going to be a great day , with your daughter surrounded by love.I have a 'Big Do' in 7 weeks time but I know that if I drop a dress size I'll be happy. I also know I have been overweight by about 2.5 stone [according to NHS BMI data } but if I lose a dress size I know I'll feel good and I will keep up those habits [ I hope] . I'm watching calorie intake and that in itself is helping a heap. I find it hard to exercise in these dark wet days so I look on' you tube' for inspiration. I know I won't do a one hour workout, but I set a target of doing a youtune zumba for 10 mins a day [ can I tell you I'm shattered after that !] but that leads to 1 hour and 10 mins of calorie burning a week and yes, I cheat a bit and do the easier bits . I hope you take inspiration from this web forum page as it is as good as a personal trainer... remember ...some you win some you lose. Just make sure that the WIN side is in the majority. Good luck and dont go starving yourself. Top tip... keep hydrated. Seems research shows most of us feel hungry when we actually are thirsty. I never mentioned the demon calorific drink of lager... but I'm measuring it now and that helps. I set a limit of '5 for Friday' Good luck pal and tell us how you are getting on.. as we are sharing your journey.

Hi Danielleliza

Welcome to the group, you have come to the right place for some good advice and support

You have an exciting time ahead but I am going to reiterate what has been said before. A good and healthy weight loss is around 2lb a week and to hope to achieve 2 stone in 8 weeks is setting yourself up for failure.

Rather than watching the scales I would suggest you get the tape measure out and go by inches. Try building both toning and aerobic exercise into your life, cut out all processed foods and sugar. Keep to a sensible calorie allowance and drink plenty of water. Good luck, and keep posting 👌

Hi

2 Stone in 8 weeks is a steep target...

I can suggest a way to do 8 Kgs ( 17 pounds) in 8 weeks.

I will explain the mathematics of it..

You need to create a deficit of 1000 Calories per day... and that will take you to lose about two pounds per week and in eight weeks you can reduce by 16-17 pounds..

Even this is going to be tough... but if you can do it... you will get a lot of wows from people around you.

Basically you need about 1800 calories per day to balance out daily... But If you shift to a 1000 calories diet... you can shave 800 calories from food... Apart from this if you burn about 200-300 calories from an hour of jog / zumba / aerobics etc... you can create a daily deficit of 1000+ calories.

You can use the App 'Myfitnesspal' app to monitor your calories... Its quite useful.

I could have sent you a 1000 calories diet chart but that is based on Indian Foods... You can try to search for a 1000 cal diet chart of the type of foods you consume..

You need to follow some rules.

1. Binge on Boiled Veggies and Salads

2. Eat lots of fruits and fruit salads

3. Fill your stomach with low cal proteins like boiled egg, beans etc

4. Drink lots and lots and lots of water. Include salted lime water also.

5. Never stay hungry... keep these low cal stuff out of your home.

6. Throw away all high cal stuff like biscuits / cakes / similar stuff away from your home.

7. Say good bye to your overeating friends for next 8 weeks.

8. For next 8 weeks become a fitness fanatic / freak.

9. Keep telling yourself that its possible

10. If you are able to stretch a little more... maybe 20 pounds can be possible.

If you have any queries please feel free to ask. I am a Dietician.

Happy Journey to being Minus 20 pounds :)
