Doing this plan to work on being more active so can anyone recommend how many minutes of walking up and down the stairs I should try and achieve per day?

Hi Beccy Are you following slimming world? Just as a heads up there are some great slimming world facebook groups such as pinch of nom and slimming world vegetarian meal ideas, which are great for sharing and finding healthy tasty recipes! I'm not following slimming world but they are great for inspiration!
I recommend downloading the app myfitnesspal. You enter your current weight, goal weight and how much you'd like to lose per week, and it gives you a recommended daily calorie goal. Recording everything you eat really helps with sticking to the plan!
My fitness levels are pretty low too, apart from walking everywhere because I'm a student. I do sometimes do an exercise video on youtube or go to a class if I feel like it but this isn't that regular. It's definitely possible to lose weight just through diet but exercise will definitely help!
Myfitnesspal recommends walking 10,000 steps per day (you can measure this on your phone) so that would be a great way to start!
I will try to monitor my steps on my phone this week and see how I get on.
I have done slimming world in the past but now I am looking for a healthy lifestyle change but I will definitely continue with some of the meals as they are tasty and full of veg!
I will have a look at downloading the fitness app next week once I'm fully in the swing of things!
Hello beccybabs90 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum ☺
Things are a little busy around here at the moment but have a good look at the site and ask if you have any questions, we are a very friendly lot ☺
Many people follow the NHS 12 week plan which is a calorie counted plan with weekly email support. I suggest you check out your BMI and find out your target calories as you don't seem to have eaten very much 😕 It's important to eat enough so you don't get too
With regards to exercise NHS guidelines suggest 30 minutes, 5 times a week but this can be broken down into 10 minute stretches. I suggest you find something you enjoy that fits into your daily routine. ☺ I really like Lesley Sansome Happy Walk on YouTube, 15 minutex for the 1 mile ☺
Sounds perfect and nutritious 😊 Although I find if I eat a bigger breakfast and lunch I cope better with afternoon/ evening nibbling 😊 Also a few carbohydrates help.
With regards to calories I would start towards the upper end initially (around the 2000 mark) so you have 'somewhere to go' as you lose weight 😊
