Well done with 11 lb - that's fab. Can you swim ? I know it's a good calorie burner.

Ah that's tough.

Chair exercises can work really well and give quite a workout.

Good luck x

I know you can get an exercise machine that has pedals and you sit on a chair to use it, I dont think they cost too much either.

thanks for that

Hello,

Are your leg problems around movement, that it is painful to walk, or you are too weak? Or is it that the messages to walk don;t get through the nervous system properly? If it is more of a strength thing, you could try to build up your strength so that you can walk, and this will open up lots of other exercise opportunities for you.

Obviously if it's a particular condition you just have to live with, then you have to find something else. Swimming is the obvious thing, but it means getting wet and cold on a regular basis, which I've never found very appealing!

There is a sort of horse riding type of machine, which might be available in the gym, where you basically do an indoor horse ride, so that might be worth looking into. Or maybe even look into riding for the disabled if you aren't scared of horses?!

I think you should keep doing the chair exercises, but they will be more use for strength and toning. You also need to do some aerobic exercise - and for this you need to move your whole body around.

The good news is that you can lose weight well even without doing any exercise.

my problem is with the messages and also with balance. I am following the exercises on Only You. and have gone from hardly any to at least 30 mins a day. I make sure I do the arm excercises because if my legs get worse at least my arms will be strong. I cannot walk without a walker, but I try to go out for a short walk. I'm ok getting out but exhausted getting back. I know losing weight will mean I haven't got so much to drag about. I was fine over Xmas, resisting the pork pies, mince pies and sausage rolls. The problem was last week when all the family had gone and I was left with the left overs and couldn't resist them. including the nuts and chocolates.

I put on 2lb but have now lost half a pound and have been shopping for health food. and now hope to lose at least 4lb. Am in competition with my daughter.
