I am trying, and have good days but nearing xmas it's getting difficult to remain self-disciplined

Trying, trying, trying but xmas is so hard!
Hi Hamiltoc
I don't know if you are single or married but yes it can be very hard at Xmas and I am managing to cope at the moment with the treats by making sure I have lower calorie lunches and dinners as often as possible that are in the NHS recipe post and then if I haven't had enough calories for the day I then have puddings as treats to try to ensure I have the right amount of calories. If I have had enough calories already I ask my husband to stop me and not allow me to have any puddings on these days. It would be easier to keep them in a place where you can't see them and you don't go very often and if you haven't had enough calories only get them out on these days. You can do this in one way or another don't worry even if you have to wait until just after Xmas to continue with the weight loss. It won't even be long know. Everyone has setbacks so don't worry.
Oh, I totally agree! Best we can do is try our hardest and not beat ourselves up as there is so much temptation everywhere at this time of ear.
Just do your best and then get straight back on it immediately on Boxing Day or the day after.
Good luck!
I know how you feel. My eating is all over the place atm and i feel like i have no motivation to eat well. Its a bit silly but i cant help feeling, whats the point, its nearly xmas! I know my subconscious is just making excuses to eat treats but i havent got the strength to reason with it. 🙄
Part of the problem is people start saying "it's Christmas" about three weeks before the actual day.. And this puts me into the wrong frame of mind. Also bloody boxes of chocolates EVERYWHERE. I think no matter what plan I have in place, the best thing I can do is damage control. Meals are easier to control I think - it's the constant snacking and wanting nibbles that causes me a problem.
Just do what you can. Try to resist but there's no point overly beating yourself up try to keep it to Christmas day is my plan - easier said than done! We have planned to have chicken salad the day before to negate some of the badness of the day lol
Don't get too disheartened. You can do it! Get the support of those around you and don't have things in your home if you can help it that you wouldn't want to eat.
Best of luck!
Thanks Kinbun, useful advice. Especially the 'don't have it in your house', sooo true! I'm keeping a keen eye on my meals trying to balance it out. Fingers crossed
