I was always very thin as a child and now find it hard to believe that I am about 2 stone overweight. Being older I now feel that I deserve all the little treats and drinks I have and find it difficult to refuse! Help!

Believing in diets
Hi JeanG51,
I'd like to welcome you to the Weight Loss NHS forum. Have you read our Welcome Newbie post yet? It's in the Pinned posts area, which is on the right-hand-side of the homepage, or at the bottom of the screen if you're accessing via a mobile device. Definitely worth a read, and the NHS 12 week plan is really good.
I can see what you're saying about enjoying certain foods and drinks - and hopefully if you consider the NHS 12 week plan, you can see that you can achieve some sense of balance and it won't seem like an ordeal to be enjoying your food and drink.
Please join in with any Challenges you like the look of in the forum, and maybe join us for the Monday group weigh-in, if you like the idea of a weekly weigh-in with a supportive and friendly group. The Events section (below the Pinned posts) has the latest weigh-in link, and the next one will be on Monday 7th November, so do join us if you'd like to. You'd be very welcome.
Have a lovely weekend.
Lowcal
Hi and welcome
I am new here and yep I am struggling with the calorie counting but am getting there - lost 5lbs first week, put on nearly a 1lb last week, aiming for a 1lb loss this week
Presently it is a learning curve to changing my eating habits - as long as I learn to eat healthy and then start to loose weight I will be happy
Take it one step at a time
Good luck on your journey - this is a great site for motivation and help
Thanks, yes already I am struggling but have to say that I have been eating much healthier over the past couple of days and less so here's hoping!
Take heart we all battle, treats don't have to be food based tho, in its basic firm its fuel, as Lowcal mentions, balance is key, too little and it drives you nuts..........too many and you never get to lose!
Distraction and being happy helps, esp in the evenings
It's the evenings that are problematic - if I'm doing stuff then I don't miss treats but as soon as I sit still ... I think I can't, or don't want to, recognise that I am full and just perhaps just being greedy. However my MIND just doesn't feel satisfied - perhaps I'm just bored!
