Hi I'm Lisa, mum of two

I've recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure and currently waiting to have a 24 hour at home monitor before starting medication

I'm seriously over weight for my height, I smoke and also suffer from stress, depression and anxiety

It sounds like you have a lot of the world on your shoulders but the good news is that it also sounds like you are getting some help.

You will find loads of support in here so keep posting your updates and folk will get back to you. We also post pictures of good food and our own ways to keep mostly on the right track.

Hello welcome and lots of help here, lots use the nhs 12 week plan, and find it a good starting point.

You have been bold enough to come here ...........which is a big step, you are already facing, losing weight and hopefully looking at stopping smoking.

I'm sure some of your stress is caused by your weight, most of us remember what it was like to be overweight ( I haven't been for a while now), so we understand a bit, some are facing a journey a bit like yours.

Hello Icevixen2016 and welcome to the forum. I am sorry about your health concerns that must be very worrying. I hope this forum is helpful to you. Many people here share the aim of trying to achieve a healthier lifestyle. Obviously we want to lose weight as a part of that but sometimes learning to be kind to ourselves is also a very important part of getting to those healthy goals. I have suffered from depression in the past and I know that it is very hard to stay healthy in those times. So I really hope that you will find the support you need here to stay on track :)

Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread.

Look at the Topics section beneath that, for posts that could answer any questions you may have. Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.

Join us for the Monday Group weigh-in. If you follow Lowcal and Moreless (our very approachable site Admins), you'll be notified when they post the threads. The latest weigh-in thread can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page.

Be active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration.

Hello and welcome to the site. Lots of us on here have had more than one health issue to deal with, not just weight. High blood pressure, high cholestrol, diabetes, heart trouble are sadly all things we face in this modern age where we tend to not eat very healthily and are not active enough.

I hope you get good support from your doctor /nurse. But one bit of advice as an Ex Smoker myself (from age 16-34), PLEASE DO TRY TO GIVE UP SMOKING above all else. It has far reaching effects, and ten years without the fags will totally erase your risk of lung cancer and reduce risk of heart disease ( a big killer in women).
