I think you need start planning meals, dead easy, lots here do the nhs 12 week plan, lots of help too, Lowcal runs a thread on this too. ( one of our long term members).

I struggle with snacks, and always have a protein breakfast, a good lunch and dinner, and plans snacks, that way you'll fee fuller for longer

Hi Mitchell4 and welcome to this very friendly and helpful forum 😀

Just a few tips ...

Alot of us follow the nhs12wk plan and I helped me loose 2stone since the beginning of March. Definitely worth a look.

Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread.

Look at the Topics section beneath that, for posts that could answer any questions you may have. Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.

Join us for the Monday Group weigh-in. If you follow Lowcal and moreless, you'll be notified when they post the threads. The latest weigh-in thread can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page.

Be active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration.

Wishing you all the best and good luck on your journey 👍

I think you should try cutting down on the snacks and plan proper breakfasts that contain protein - say poached eggs followed by a proper lunch and meal at night.

I find it easier this week to go cold turkey on cakes and biscuits which I am used to grazing on - I feel much more alert when not having this sort of snack. Try more fruit.

Heya, its natural to feel annoyed when youre not where you want to be, but dont be too down on yourself- youve taken a great first step joining the forum, and you will find lots of support here. Im sure that soon your annoyance will turn into positive feelings and motivation.

Ive only done this for a few weeks myself so im not an expert, but i can tell you what ive found helpful.

1. Only focus on sticking to your calories TODAY. Dont think about whether you can do it tomorrow or not. Just ask yourself every morning 'can i stick to my calories, just for today?'

2. Decide on how many meals and snacks you need each day, then allocate calories for each one, as a rough guide.

3. On sunday evening make it a routine to plan out all your meals- make it as easy on yourself as you can ie. Perhaps eat the same dinner two nights in a row, several times a week, or have the same soup for lunch a few days in a row, but with different extras like low fat cheddar, grapes, crackers, cherry toms, boiled egg, etc.

4. If you naturally graze then you can work with that. Instead of grazing, plan frequent healthy snacks at set times, say roughly 150 cals (depending on your daily allowance) at 11am, 4pm and 9pm. You could box up 150 cals almonds and raisins/dark choc chips in those cute little snaptop boxes for work. If its a physical job i imagine you need to keep your energy topped up.

5. Keep a food diary of time, foods eaten and calories, and running total of cals. I like to use a fancy A4 hardback notepad, as it feels more official lol, and i can stick gold stars in it on good days. 😆

6. Try to still eat your favourite foods occasionally, like cake once a week or whatver, cos a life without cake is no fun. 'Lifestyle not diet'.

So those are what works for me and my ideas for you. Feel free to ignore any of it (obviously) if it doesnt sound helpful. I have insomnia so my posts tend to be quite long sometimes lol.

Wishing you good luck and positive vibes.

Hedgehog ☺ xx

I'm a grazer too but I have had to switch to proper meals and logging everything I eat and drink. This is enabling me to keep a check on my diet and make sure it is nutritionally balanced.

This is a healthy change for me and one I shall need to stick to when I have lost the weight, but I think it is possible.

Good luck and keep visiting this site - it's a really encouraging community :-)
