Following the plan, choosing wisely, moving more - that is the easy bit.

The hard part is staying motivated and focussing on why you want this!

Write a list of all the reasons why you want to release that lovely slim person hiding inside of you...start with health, wealth and the chance to enjoy life free from pain and self-induced illness! Then ....what new sport could you take up? What fun can you enjoy with your family? What lovely clothes you can buy (go choose something now in a charity shop, one size down, and aim to get into it by next September perhaps)? Have you a big birthday, a wedding to go to, a chance to show your family what you can do?..

Let us know what is top of your list!

Hi DD,

Thanks for commenting. I would say at the top of my list is to stop snoring! I keep everyone awake. I feel so sorry for my ex who had to deal with my snoring. I don't want to be the person that keeps people awake at night. Going on a holiday in Sep and i don't want to keep my mates awake because of my snoring .

Too much dairy food (milk, cream, ice-cream) can worsen snoring as it aggravates the production of mucus which in turn encourages you to breathe through your mouth instead of your nose.

My partner has restricted nasal breathing and always breathes through his mouth at night - it is worse when he has hay-fever or an allergic reaction to something that makes him congested. All these things are worth investigating. Feather pillows can be an allergen, as can mould spores.

I have a large dog who snores loudly too (with his paw over his nose), ....but I actually find it quite soothing as the two of them snore in harmony either side of me!

That's one of my reasons for losing weight too. My husband works nights at the moment so is not too bad, but he s going back on days soon. I don t want to keep him awake!

The charity shop challenge top is such a good idea. I bought a monsoon top one size smaller from a lovely charity shop just as I started week 1. It was obscenely tight! I am now half way through week 7 and wearing it. Win win. My favourite charity benefited financially and I am benefitting with my weight loss. Xx

Hi Oritse, I was the same but found it really useful reading the useful info on this site, the 12 week plan and other peoples inspiring posts so I try and check in each day. I find it helps with the motivation and 11 weeks in I'm still on target and enjoying it. Once I got the first couple of weeks out the way and recorded my losses I was hooked. Good luck, you've made the first step! :-)

Hello Oritse. I've just returned from five days in Spain where food was plentiful. Last night, I had chocolate cake with ice cream, I then had crisps. The thing being, I was mindful of the amount I was eating and yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it. This morning, I've started writing everything down again which has given me more control. I and everyone else here, know there will be blips on our journey. You have a bad moment/day, move on and don't give up. You're not alone.
