I had to attend a hospital appointment last week and thought I would walk there. Once I googled it I realised I could walk without touching the main roads, (I have only recently moved to the area so was not too familiar with the local routes).
A pleasant surprise as a round trip of around 3 miles took me from my front door to the outpatients department and back, without touching any main roads
Downside is I have to wait until the end of September before I get my hernia fixed This curtails me from doing too much exercise or gardening.
Happy Sunday everyone John

A lovely walk and no car park charges either, it is the old saying "you never know what's on your own doorstep" hope all goes well with your op in September.
Hope the time passes quickly until September, in the meantime I'm sure you can put yourself in the best possible position for a healthy op with all that walking and hopefully a bit more inch loss from your waist. I'm still finding new routes round my area after 3.5 months living here, yesterday I found a cycle route via Leyton Jubilee Park and Hackney Marshes, also took me away from too many roads.
Hi John, Looks like a lovely place to walk, love walking under the trees. I'm a bit like you my Hernia is stopping me from doing some exercises too. Was rushed to hospital 2 weeks ago with it because of the pain stayed in over night, but still waiting for the op. Have a good Sunday. Rose
Touch wood mine has not given me any real pain, just uncomfortable so I have decided I will continue light exrcise and I do need to get on with the garden, I can't leave it all for another two months. I will be attempting building a small wall next week !
Nice photo. This is the place to be, as much as possible. A year ago I discovered that a national park lay within walking distance (25 mins away) and so, everyday, even after work, I walk about 6 miles and get my "fix" of tranquillity and beauty. It is a wonderful way to exercise. Even though I have a gym card, it is preferable being out of doors, in all weather. Just enjoy your new discovery and you may find this a subtle "non-exercise" that you want to do everyday. Good luck to you.
Sorry to hear you can't garden at the moment. The grass seed is all coming through now so those horrible dead patches are filling up. Managed to start to mow it and it is all starting to take shape, the flowers we planted are also coming into bloom and colour is coming into what was a jungle 5 months ago!
Well done John keep it up. Maybe another holiday while you wait for the operation 😂 but at the moment who needs to be abroad. Enjoy your walks. Look after yourself.
Thanks Cockneyblue but too hot in Cyprus at the moment and our "heatwave" has yet to arrive in Bolton so I have to wait until tomorrow now before the shirt comes off, just before the thunderstorms arrive
Thunderstorms, of course not! the sun will shine at least for another week I haven't had an holiday yet as we had to cancel due to my husbands operation, so it's in the garden with my feet in a bucket of water, as the rest of me won't fit 😂😂😂
Happy Sunday to you too. A daily walk through pleasant greenery like in your photo is a great way to prepare for your operation - you'll be fitter and heal quicker. Good luck with it all ☺
Looks a lovely place to walk, well done for seeking it out and walking to your appointment. Sorry you are still having to wait for the op, but as others have said, it will give you chance to eat healthily and be as well as possible leading up to it.
Looks like a lovely walk! I love it when I find places like that in my area. Make sure you remember where places are for when you have had your surgery!
