Found this last night and I'm giving it a go. I have been at at famous diet class for 18months and I just keep losing the same stone then gaining it again. I did the bmi calculator and have my calorie range. Should I go for a middle number? Say about 1700 a day. I have been doing couch 25k and I'm loving that.

Hi Mac51 and welcome to this very friendly forum and informative forum π
Sound's like you have already made good strides in the start of you weight loss journey. I would suggest starting at a calorie amount you feel comfortable with a mid range is a good idea. Give it a week and see how you feel eating that amount and see if you loose weight. If not take it to the lower amount or if your really hungry up it a little. Everyone's different.
A lot of us on here use myfitnesspal to log calories and it's free and easy to use. Be truthful with your portion amounts as this can effect your calories hugely.
You will get a more formal welcome with lots of helpful information soon from one of the fab 5'so.
Good luck and get involved with a few challenges for motivation.
Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. It's great that you're giving the NHS 12 week plan a go, and I am glad you've already found the NHS BMI calculator and have got your recommended calorie range. You are wondering whether to go for the middle of the range - maybe see how it goes at 1700 - personally I would go for the higher number, as I love food so much, but it is very much your personal preference, and you can eat within the range each day, and maybe vary according to your needs and preferences!? See how it goes.
Glad you're enjoying doing C25K as well. You could always join us in the Challenge in the Pinned posts that gareth0073 is doing - as some of us are going for 3 runs a week, and enjoying that.
The Pinned posts are in the top right-hand-side of the homepage, and I'd recommend reading the Welcome Newbie post, which moreless has put together. Also, there are other Challenges going on - several by Hidden - like the Autumn Equinox Challenge, and the Kilometre Challenge - and sueper has a great Challenge about fitting into a particular piece of clothing.
We also have a weekly Monday weigh-in, so if you like the idea of that, do have a look at the latest thread which is in the Events section (below the Pinned posts) - it is well attended. 130 people came to weigh-in with us last week! I've not counted them this week yet, but I'll be doing the stats later in the week, so if you would like to join, you can always pop in to the latest thread and I'd count you as a Newbie - so go ahead if you want to - you'd be very welcome!
Nothing much to add but just to say I lost weight successfully over 10 months sticking to the higher end of my calorie range π I also built up the exercise which helps build muscle which in turn helps burn more fat π Good luck
