Feeling really disheartened!

So, I have lost just under 1 stone and took my 'after' picture to compare to the 'before' picture. So disappointed because very little seems to have changed in terms of inches and the way my body looks! I know it's really positive that I've lost the weight, but I hoped I would look better after losing 1 stone!

I found it was exercise combined with weight loss that caused my body to change shape. Couch to 5k did it for me.

I'm doing both and have been since April! I've also thrown in cardio and strength sessions each week :(

well done on losing the weight, I know it's disappointing but we just have to keep going. I've lost 10lbs and although my stomach is a bit flatter and not so bloated no real change inches wise either. I'm excercising too, so we will get there!

Thanks :) I hope so. It is just frustrating.

Have you measured yourself ? Overall inch loss will have changed more than actual body shape. Why not try on something that was a bit snug ? Don't loose heart your body will have noticed the difference !!!

Enjoy your weekend

😇

That isn't a bad shout actually, I did take my measurements shortly before deciding to start exercising and eating well, so I think I need to drag those measurements out and see if anything has changed there. I've been feeling slimmer and more toned, but after seeing the pictures I was worried that maybe that was just the endorphins and that whole "I've exercised once so I expect the results to be monumental and immediate" mindset :P

Thanks :)

Hey Natalie-jade, please don't be disheartened. Losing a stone is absolutely amazing. Put 14 pounds of potatoes in a bag and lift it. That's 14 pounds that you are not carrying around with you anymore. Although you may not feel that you look much different, friends and family will definitely be able to tell. I have over 16 stone to lose and last time when I lost 11 stone I still didn't really see a lot of difference in myself although looking back now my clothes were hanging and it looked as though my backside had disappeared. Stick with it because you are quite obviously doing everything right. Congrats on your amazing losses so far.

Hi Kenny25,

You are right and I know I should be happy about losing 1 stone, as it's amazing! At the very least it should make it easier to get myself around my 5k run circuit, so that's a positive. I'm sure if I just keep going I will start to see the results soon :) Thanks!

It took 3 stone before anyone noticed on me! And 4 stone before I actually noticed myself. It's very disheartening but just remember how much healthier you are now without that extra stone! That's around the weight of a Dachshund dog!

Now if you could just come and stand next to my 61yr old body with it's spare tyre that, whilst deflated, is still there - you would think your beautiful buxom figure to be perfectly lovely! Don't aim for perfection, it doesn't exist. Look at your good points; lovely hair, shapely ankles, feminine curves etc and enjoy your young self! It is feeling well, with a happy smile that makes you beautiful.

We are always are own worst critic 😕 Without seeing the photos we can't comment, but that isn't really the point, it is how YOU feel that matters, 😊 I seem to remember you struggling early on and a whole stone is a lot of FAT to lose, especially combined with the exercise so you will have built muscle too 😊 Try to feel proud,p and confident about the new fitter, healthier you and it will radiate outwards 😊❤️😊
