Hello.. I'm now slowly getting into the swing of weighing and writing down every morsel of food. I was wondering if you all even keep a track of how much you snack on fruit or is it something you don't really have to bother about, considering fruits are healthy?
Fruits: Hello.. I'm now slowly getting... - Weight Loss Support
Fruits
fruits are healthy but they do contains calories, 100g of grape is 110 kcal and a banana is 104 kcal which is more than a slice of wholemeal bread (93 kcal). fruit contains sugars so you do have to count them in the 1400kcal allowance!
caloriecount.com/ this is the website where you can check calories in food.
good luck
Hi! I count everything I eat fruit and veg included. I fill in the weekly sheets that come with the 12 week plan. I am a list/notes kinda person so I like to keep track of what I am doing. Fruits etc have calories so I add them into my allowance. Hope this helps. I know some slimming clubs count fruit as free food but I like to think they have calories too that add up.
Thankyou - I need to be more disciplined and write down everything. I read your earlier post on how well you avoided too much of your choc cake! well done.
Yes, as everyone has said, you need to count fruit and it's better to have more veg than fruit towards your 5 a day. I find it helpful to keep a daily food diary that way you can look back on calorific values and also totals for your favourite meals, it saves time. You can also how you felt, e.g. satisfied, hungry, happy, tired as often there is a link between what you have eaten and how you feel.
I have got myself a pretty diary. I think personally just looking at how I have been trying to eat clean is motivating me further. My weight loss seems really slow as I also have a thyroid issue but I am trying to focus more on health, hoping my weight loss will catch up.
Good point about food diary and how you felt, for example, I notice a definite increase in menopausal hot flushes if I have more carbs (especially after sweet things ) 😕
Fruits at healthy but still they must be counted. They still have calories and are loaded with sugar (albeit good natural sugars but still).
I've just eaten an apple and a portion of grapes (100g) and that was 140 calories. No imagine if I hadn't counted them, I may have thought I could have some extra dinner or a treat later. Would have been over my goal for today.
So yep, the only thing you don't have to count is water! I even count chewing gun (2 cals a piece!).
I follow a plan set by a dietician And have 3 portions of fruit a day max 😕
On another note, I was never a big fan of fruit, but since i stopped most other added sugars and 'diet' soft drinks my tastebuds have changed and I relish a piece of fruit after my meal 😊
Thankyou - will start counting them
I have an under active thyroid, I take thyroxine (sometimes a bit hit and miss). Have managed to lose nearly 1.5 stone since Easter without really trying. I don't eat much sugar and don't take it in tea or coffee and loath "sodas" as our trans-Atlantic friends call them. I do more exercise, have cut my portion sizes down slightly and ditched the biscuit/cake, which was always eaten at work with my afternoon tea. Cured myself of that habit by drinking water instead of tea and having it half an hour later - treat myself to a coffee after lunch instead.
