Wow Joanne that is brilliant you SHOULD be pleased with yourself
Sit ups are quite good for toning up your stomach and are low impact so you won't end up all buff just start with as many as is comfortable at first and you will find you are gradually able to do more and more as you go, these are what I like to do as my hardest areas to shift the weight from are my bum and tum.
Very well done on losing the weight! A tremendous achievement! πππ
However, I would be careful doing any exercises for the first time, and sit ups are notorious for causing back pain to those who are not fit enough π I do some waist exercises, stretching, bending, salsa type dance moves (basically wiggling your hips!) and yoga for abdominal fat (google it)
Hi joanne-h π I have the same tummy issues as you. I've gone from being 40" down to 36.5" in 15 wks. I haven't done any tummy exercises as was told you need to loose the fat first as you'll be building muscle under the layer of fat so it won't make a bit of difference. Cardiovascular exercises are the best all round work out. Stretches and balancing with weights that work your core would be great too. I work out to a davina dvd and it's brilliant for full body toning. Diet is also very important so make sure your eating well and the correct fats as described by concerned. Good luck. Claire x
I've got the same problem. I'm just starting the 2nd week of the diet and am feeling better, but getting more conscious of my wobbly belly.
I've been doing the wii fit too - apart from gardening if the weather's nice, it's been my only exercise. I've been doing the aerobic games to burn calories, but there are the yoga exercises and the muscle workouts. Maybe we should all try those as well to try and tighten our tummies.
I too am gaining weight around my middle and as I have osteoarthritis in most of my joints find it difficult to exercise productively. I have been eating low fat yoghurt with fresh fruit for months - am I eating the wrong thing?
Well done on your weight loss! I also have tummy area as an issue. I have been all sorts of weights, even once during suffering anorexia 39 kgs (Height 5.8, I still had a bit of fatty tissue there.
Now I also find hormones are not helping. I have swapped out salt for pink salt, I drink more water and I try and avoid lactose and wheat. (Not always successfully I might add). I know from the old days when I worked out a lot, my trainer used to say that overall body fat loss THEN sit ups etc., will help. The body has to lose fat in order to show the muscle underneath. But, then again, building general body muscle helps us burn fat easier. So lower salt, sugar, and maybe lactose and wheat. Avoid carbs at night.
