I have taken on board much of the encouragement and tips but I may have missed out on thanking everyone individually so here goes- Thanks for taking the time to write - it all helps. I forgot my password and having difficulty renewing it as there is nothing coming through to my email when I try to reset it.

Hi,

If you check your own profile you can see your previous threads if that helps :)

Good luck with getting healthy. I can recommend walking - just 20 mins a day will help :)

Hi Timetoact16,

Just to let you know that I reported your problem with trying to re-set your password to the Healthunlocked staff, so hopefully you'll get a response sometime soon.  Hope you can get it sorted out so you can access it again.

Lowcal :-)

Hi @timetoact16,

I'm a bit late to your previous discussion, but to cheer you up, I lost all my weight in my 60s.   I retired early (not because but) with serious mobility problems.  I had to pull myself up stairs with my arms because my knees wouldn't do it.  I had to have a very minor knee op, not in the worst knee funnily enough.  And then had to get fit again, which involved losing weight.  Although it took me about 4 years, I lost the 5st + weight and learned to eat healthily in most situations.  It took me so long because of the holidays and eating opportunities retirement seems to give us.  And I do live with a family of foodies.  So temptation everywhere and no escape!  I had to learn how to cruise without putting weight on.  How to go on full board trips without putting weight on.  How not to binge the minute I got home because I had been so good on this last holiday.  I also have had to get fit not once but several times, because good health isn't a fixed point it has to be maintained and even minor illnesses can take you to immobility quite quickly if you don't watch out.  So I suppose you could say I'm a remedial slimmer.   But if you set out on the journey and keep going, you will get to your destination in the end.  So you choose whether to do it very strictly or not.  What they don't tell you, is that getting fit and losing weight takes decades off you.  So how about joining me here in our second visit to our 40s?

Best wishes,

Venus
