If you join us for this Monday group weigh-in then one of the Fab 5’ers (Prin, Suzybenj, LotToLose and myself, Lowcal) will reply to you. However, please be patient with us, as we do have other commitments, but we will do our very best to get back to you as soon as we can.
You may have noticed that 2 people’s names are missing – i.e. Ruth_Canal_Runner and Moreless. Therefore please read on for details:
A big announcement to make is that our lovely Fab 5'er Ruth_Canal_Runner has decided that it's time for her to step-down from Fab 5'er duties, and also stats responsibilities, as she has a lot on her plate currently, and needs to prioritise other elements.
I am therefore writing to just say that we have all appreciated your help and support Ruth, and your stellar stats prowess, and we will miss you in the Fab 5'ers group, but we are glad you'll be staying in the community and that we'll still be seeing you around and about, and especially that you'll still be joining in with the Monday group weigh-ins as a participant.
Regarding the stats for the future, I would like to say I am happy to take these on, as it's a good way to keep connected to everyone's weight loss journey, and I do enjoy it when I do the stats - even though it takes more time now the group is so much larger - it is lovely to see everyone's progress in that way.
Moreless won’t be with us for 2 weeks as she is off on her holidays! So I’d like to say how much we’ll miss you Moreless, and that we hope you have a wonderful time. Luckily Moreless has been able to weigh-in yesterday (i.e. Sunday) as she’ll be travelling at the crack of dawn today to get to her destination. I am going to copy and paste Moreless’s results and post them in a moment so you can see how well she’s done. Her results are amazing!!! I am going to post them at the bottom of this thread, so please do look for them, they are particularly inspiring and I’d like to save the best till last!!!! ☺
Regarding my own weigh-in results, I feel that my hubby’s Birthday falling on the weekend was challenging for my ability to stay on track, as celebrating does tend to take precedence at such times, but thankfully I didn’t go overboard, and feel positive about things:
Last Monday I was 12 stone 12.2 pounds, and today I weigh: 12 stone 11.2 pounds, so I’ve managed to lose my goal of 1 pound, and I feel really happy with that. I only managed to get to the gym once – instead of twice, which has been the case for the past 3 weeks now, but I did enjoy the gym session, and made the most of it. This week I hope to lose another pound, if I can, and will try to get to the gym twice, continue with the Strength exercises and healthy eating and walking.
Please look in the Pinned posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage) for details of various Challenges that are going on currently in the forum.
Do join in with anything that takes your interest, if you're not already signed up to something, and fancy a Challenge.
I have done the stats this week, and they are particularly inspiring:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 132.
Total overall weight lost: 119.89 pounds (54.38 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 80 (162.29 pounds lost) (73.61 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 27 (42.4 pounds gained) 19.23 ‘kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 11.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 14.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 2.
Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated).
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless.
Talking of Moreless, as I said, I’m leaving the BEST till last, and here is her great results:

"Happy monday Lowcal, Prin, Suzy, LotToLose and fellow losers
I hope you've all had a successful weigh-in, or at least are at peace with what the scales and/or tape measure are telling you today.
Ruth, we are so sad to see you step down, but perfectly understand your reasons for doing so. I'm so pleased that you'll still be around on the forum and no doubt continuing to encourage, motivate and inspire us, especially when it comes to strength exercises! Thanks so much for everything that you've done for us with the weigh-in thread, you were our stats woman extraordinaire! All the very best with your new ventures.
My goal last week, was to have lost 5st by my holiday. Unfortunately, I've missed that goal by a pound, but I've still lost 2.625lbs this week and am absolutely delighted! 1lb is neither here, nor there and really not worth worrying about.
This is my first holiday since I started on my weight loss journey, so I'm a little concerned as to how I'll fare, but my aim will be to maintain. If I put on a little, so be it, I'll just have to knuckle down on my return. I'm also wondering how I'll get on with not weighing myself for over a week! I think I'll take my tape measure with me!
I shall miss you all and will probably suffer withdrawal symptoms tomorrow. I suspect the first thing I shall do on my return, will be to update myself with everyone's progress!
Good luck, my friends, onwards and downwards!
Moreless ☺

I'd like to be the first to Congratulate Moreless on such an amazing result - losing nearly 5 stones in total, and to achieving a loss of 2.625 pounds this week. Brilliant!!!! Hope you have a wonderful holiday Moreless, and there'll be plenty for you to catch-up with when you get back. I know we will miss you!

N.B.
The Afternoon/Evening Session will be posted at approx midday – and if it has already been posted, then the link will be here:
Congratulations to moreless, what a fantastic, and inspiring achievement. I'm sure the holiday will be amazing after the well earned weight loss!
Well done Lowcal, another lb off and onwards and downwards through the 12's. Happy days.
I have maintained at 13st 13lbs, for the third week in a row. I'm pleased, if not relieved as we've been on holiday in this time. I got out and did some clearing of leaves in the garden yesterday, and will need to spend several more hours working out there getting it ready for summer. This year I'm looking at it with a renewed enthusiasm as not only will the garden look better, but I'll be burning calories and toning while doing it, and keeping my hands busy = less temptation to snack.
Myfitnesspal completed for the day, so I know what I will be eating, planning is the way forward.
Have a good week everyone, my goal is to lose 1lb by next Monday
Congratulations to you for maintaining your weight this week for the third week in a row, which is especially satisfying as you've been away on holiday during that time. That gardening outside and clearing all those leaves must have done the trick! It's great that you're having a renewed enthusiasm for the garden, and I'm sure it will be looking great at the end of your efforts, and so will you! Like you say, less temptation to snack while you're focusing on that.
Great to hear you're already organised for the day ahead, in terms of pre-planning your food choices on Myfitnesspal, that's really great!
Good luck with achieving your goal to lose 1 pound by next Monday.
Love that you're getting your garden in shape too. I have been doing lots of gardening too, feel exhausted at the end of a session but am seeing the benefit of how my garden is starting to look this year.
I am back! I last weighed in 3 weeks ago at the bottom of my maintenance range (53kg) and at the lowest weight since pre having children (my son is 32)
I ate whatever I wanted whilst away and have gained 1.5 kg. BUT I am still in my maintenance band of 53_55kg. Today I weigh 54.5kg.
I am happy with that! I am sure I would have gained more if I hadn't swum and walked so much. I have now been maintaining since end of September (happy face)
Now my aim is to get back to nearer 53kg before my trip to Brazil at the end of July. (That way I can again be more relaxed about what i eat and hopefully still come home below55kg)
I can do this!
P's well done Lowcal and Moreless you are both amazing. All the best to Ruth as well
That sounds like ker-Ching- result. Did exactly what you wanted - and gained a minuscule amount ( I say this as someone who recently gained half a stone on holiday)- and you are still in msintence zone- really well done
Good luck on your prep for Brazil- which I am sure will be amazing
I just saw your other post, and so I've replied there too, but I wanted to say I will count you as having gained just 0.5 kg on average per week for the stats, which is minimal for a lovely holiday away, and you have achieved a great result as you're within your maintenance window, and you had planned to be at the lower end before you went so you could enjoy your holiday.
Great that you did lots of walking and swimming during your holiday, and tried new flavours and cuisine. Sounds like the perfect holiday!
Hope you have a great week ahead, and that you cope with being back in the normal routine again. Banish any 'holiday blues' - hopefully they won't get you, especially as you have another holiday to look forward to in 5 weeks in Brazil...!
Wow, such a lot going on. Good luck to Ruth and congratulations to Moreless, have a great holiday!
Lowcal, I have managed a 1 pound loss too this week from 14.2 to 14.1. Things are progressing slower than I would have hoped, but at least I am now heading in the right direction.Had a lovely family day out yesterday which certainly helped with the kms this week and my knees Don't ache so much either so that's great.
This is brilliant that you've also lost 1 pound this week - you're getting closer to the 13's. I know you were hoping to lose more weight, but a whole pound in a week is really great - just picture it on a plate as a pound of lard or butter, and you can appreciate the significance of it. That always helps me to think of it that way.
Great that you enjoyed a lovely family day out yesterday, and I will look forward to seeing your Km totals at tomorrow's 20,000 Leagues Challenge - Hidden will be thrilled to see them. Fantastic that your knees aren't aching - that's great!
Wow, does that mean you've lost 2 pounds this week? That is fantastic! Really well done. I hope you've had an enjoyable week, and I hope this week will be similarly successful. Congratulations on such a great start.
Congratulations Moreless on your loss this week, that's excellent work, the other 1lb will have gone by the time you step on the plane.
I've lost 1/2lb this week as I weighed in at 19st 1 and 1/2lbs this morning. On Friday morning I was 18.12, but it was my sisters 50th birthday bash on Friday night, followed by hangover comfort food Sat/Sun, and mother nature paying me a visit! So actually not to worried all considered. Am back on the straight and narrow today, my aim is to be back at 18.12 for next Monday.
Good morning! You're right, I suspect moreless will have lost that final pound this morning, afterall she weighed in early yesterday, and so she didn't have her complete week to be accounted for. I really hope that happened for her today - I bet she would be sooooo excited! I'm imagining her travelling in the wee hours of the morning today, and I hope she's having a safe journey.
Congratulations to you for losing half a pound this week - I know you were in the 18's on Friday, but the fact you had your sister's 50th Birthday celebrations and now Mother Nature is accompanying you, then those factors would work against the 18's for now - so your half a pound result is fantastic in the circumstances! Congratulations!!!
You can look forward to celebrating being back in the 18's for next Monday, all being well.
I fell off the wagon big style but have been back on for a week. My starting weight today is 161.6. I'd like to be down to 150 in two months (holiday) and to 135 by mid-August (high school reunion). I know that these are very unrealistic goals, so I'm being pragmatic and easy on myself...As a note, I'm finding it very hard to work in exercise between work and 18-month-old, who never sleeps. I do have a running stroller, which is gathering dust.
Sometimes there is a spectacular fall from the wagon, but the great thing is that this wagon toodles by every Monday and picks up all who wish to board, and so well done for getting back on, and sharing your starting weight today - hopefully you'll be celebrating a loss next week, all being well, and I hope you have a great week ahead.
I am sure you know the reasons you fell off big style, and hopefully you'll be taking a different route this week, to ensure you stay safe and secure in the wagon - hopefully enjoying the ride.
Very well done to Moreless, what a result! Well done to you too Lowcal, celebtations and still manage to shed weight, that's some going. Thanks from me to Ruth, I'm glad she's still going to be around she always gave me support and encouragement.
Well as for me...you know what they say, bite the bullet, take the plunge, grasp the nettle, feel the fear and do it anyway, well that's what I did this morning, felt afraid to weigh myself but stepped on those scales anyway. I weighed in at 10stone 8lbs, that's a stone over my original target weight and a stone more than I weighed at Christmas! This is a very disappointing result but I have only myself to blame and today is the first day of the rest of my life and boy, am I going to sort this out? you bet!
So happy that you're joining us again for the Monday group weigh-ins. We missed you!!!
I would like to say well done for taking that big step of weighing yourself this morning, as I realise that was a really big step, and brave too. So well done! I know you are feeling disappointed at the result, but please don't dwell on it, it's only a number, and the fact is that you're making a very positive step in terms of re-joining some support networks within this community, and you're not alone on your journey. We're all alongside you and cheering you on towards success. Onwards and downwards is the motto, and as you say, today is the first day of the rest of your life - and you are going to sort it. You're sounding positive and focused, and that's a great mind-set to start out with.
Here's to a successful first week back for you, and here's to a successful week for us all.
If moreless were here she'd be waving pom poms, and I know she'll be thrilled when she gets back to know you're back with us - in the meantime we'll wave some pom poms, and cheer you on.
I hope you've still got your determined head on and are banishing those pounds forever
My pom poms are waving wildly!
Hi I'm Sam, this is my first week and I started at 12st 1lb. My waist measured 39". Initially I want to lose 10% but my ultimate goal is 8st...I'm 5ft 1" so a short-ass & that weight is in the middle of my healthy range.
Anyway...drum roll please...my first week and I have lost 8lb!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty chuffed obvs! Only thing is I'm writing this from the airport as off to Scotland for a week's holiday but I'm not going to let this stop me...smaller portions and the healthiest options on the menu and I can still have a loss in my second week!
Good luck everyone and congratulations all. Hope you enjoy your holiday moreless xx
Your name is really apt, because you have had such a 'Fab' result in your first week, that you truly are 'Fab'!!!! Many Congratulations on losing 8 pounds in your first week, you deserve a very long and enthusiastic drum roll..........BrrrrBrrrrrDrrrrBrrrDrrrr - I realise I am incapable of replicating a drum-roll sound - but you hopefully get the jist of what I was attempting to do!!!
Really glad you're feeling chuffed, and I hope you have a wonderful time on your holiday to Scotland - what a great start to the holiday! You're sounding very positive, and you've already got a plan to cope over the holiday, so have a lovely time, and here's to your returning with a loss in your second week, all being well. But even if you maintain, that will be much better than a gain. So do enjoy your holiday and we'll look forward to finding out how you got on next week.
LOL! Thanks Zest , like your drum roll, sounded a bit like a road drill lol but loving it lol! & better than mine too :D. Fab is for fab at 40, Ab Fab and general fabulousness & positiveness all around
Hi Sam! I am Julie and we have identical measurements, height and weight. I weighed in this morning at 12 stone and so am using your 8lb weight loss as inspiration. That is FANTASTIC!! Have a lovely time in bonny Scotland and well done again
Wow that's cool! I've been calorie counting and doing half an hour at the gym so it's paid off! I hope you have a FAB first week Julie...go for it girl xx
Firtstly, congratualations Moreless.....that is a truly incredible weightloss. Enjoy your holiday, you deserve it!!
Ruth - thanks for all your time and effort on this board, we all really appreciate it. You've been brill!
Well done Lowcal as well for losing your 1lb especially whilst birthday celebrations were had. You're doing fantastic!
It's Brighton marathon on Sunday so I am tapering which means I wont be running as much this week. Therefore I am going to aim for a 2lb weight loss, we shall see.
Thanks so much for your encouraging words to us all, and many Congratulations to you for losing 1.4 pounds this week. I think you're making such great progress, and I really like seeing your weight loss list, showing your progress into the 10's and moving downwards.
It's getting closer to your Marathon, and so good luck with the tapering, and also to achieving your goal to lose 2 pounds this week. I hope the Marathon goes really well in Brighton on Sunday. Good luck!!!! Will look forward to hearing how you get on, and have a great week.
Congratulations more less what a wonderful achievement, enjoy your holiday. Sorry to see you go Ruth and thank you for all your stats, I love reading them. Well done Lowcal you are doing so well.
Last week I weighed 11st 11.75lbs this week I weigh 11st 9.25lbs a loss of 2.5 lbs, so very pleased. Would like to loss 1.25lbs this week.
Thanks so much for your kind words Summer. I had a lovely holiday
That was a brilliant weight loss!
Hello, my weight today after a huge breakfast is 80,4 (0,5 kg gain) as I completely broke the rules on a barbecue last week and also been swimming in pizzas, mayonaise and white bread for some good few days. 0,5 kg isn't so bad after all, considering all the foods i had, and such a little gain motivates me to keep going further with my weight loss. I was afraid of a terrible yoyo effect, but I feel somewhat happy after stepping on a scale. I solemnly declare that this week I'll do better.
Congratulations moreless and have fun on your holiday We hope to see lots of pictures!
Also congrats to you Lowcal, you have probably seen the picture of what 1 pound of fat looks like, so that's a great achievement.
Ruth, I don't know you but of course there are more important things in life than losing weight, so just take your time and get back with us when you're ready.
I know you've gained 0.5 kg this week, but the fact you said you'd been 'swimming in pizzas, mayonnaise and white bread for some good few days' would definitely be the reason, I would surmise...! I'm glad that you're continuing to feel motivated to keep going and I would suggest that it might be good to consider your week ahead to enable you to swim in healthier waters. There are lots of healthy food ideas within the NHS 12 week plan and also in the recipe threads, and it can help to pre-plan some meals.
Ruth isn't leaving us - she's just stepping down from Fab 5'er duties, you might not have seen her so much, as she did a lot of background work in terms of doing our weekly stats, which do take quite a bit of time to do with the size of the group. She'll be popping in at some point today to do her weigh-in, so she's still very much part of the community. Do look out for some of her past posts, as she has posted some fantastic recipes - really healthy and delicious. I can't recommend them enough - she is a really skilled and creative producer of some great recipes! So check out her profile Hidden and you'll see.
Thanks so much for your encouraging words, which are much appreciated Hidden and I hope you have a great week ahead.
I had a rubbish week in terms of eating, just couldn't stop and have also been fairly lazy in terms of exercise.
I've lost 0.1kg from 66.5kg to 66.4kg.
Furthermore I am very confused as to what my "heathy" weight range actually is.
Comparing different BMI calculators most come out at 59.8kg, the NHS one seems to have changed and now tells me that a maximum of 60.3kg would be healthy. While the German articles I came across suggest my heathy BMI range goes to 26, with that a weight of 62.5kg would be considered healthy.
Makes me wonder what healthy actually is and where my current goal lies.
On a positive note, I finally threw out my size 14 jeans, which I could pull up and down without opening the button, to replace them with a size 12 which is already a little loose around the waiste. 😊
When you started your post with saying you'd had a rubbish week in terms of eating and that you just couldn't stop and had also been fairly lazy in terms of exercise, I admit I was expecting you to have gained weight, so I'm pleasantly surprised to see you've actually lost 0.1kg. So Congratulations for the loss on the scales, but I'm sorry to hear you felt you'd had a rubbish week. I hope you can feel better about it this week, and maybe make some choices which feel better to you.
I know you're feeling some confusion about the healthy range of weight, as you've consulted different calculators for that. When you say that the "NHS one seems to have changed" do you mean that you used it previously and it gave you a different amount than it gives you currently??? I'm not sure what you mean when you say that. I agree that it is important to be clearer about your ultimate goal, and I really hope that you can sort through the confusion and find something that is meaningful and relevant.
Great news that you're wearing a size 12 now, and that you threw out your size 14 as it was just too big now.
Hope you have a great week ahead. Do let us know if you manage to find some clarity about the healthy BMI range.
In regard to the BMI calculator, I'm 99% sure the NHS one used to give me 59.8kg as the top of the heathy range in the past. I remember using that as the first calculator to set my goals but then realised that my calorie counting app gives the same BMI result - it's an American app and still suggest 59.8kg would be the heaviest I should be for my height.
After having had a play with the NHS one the other day I noticed my heathy range there has changed. I know 0.4kg isn't much, but if it means my goal is reached 0.4 kg earlier, at my currently high speed rate, that's a 4 week difference 😂
Thanks for updating me on that Foodie87, it is strange as to why that has happened. But I would say that you know how you feel at different weights etc, so when you get close to your ultimate goal range, then just see how comfortable you feel - it is a guideline range.
Don't let the range put you off your aims to be healthy and fit in yourself!
Oh no!!! Those scales must indeed by playing up - I hope they will be fixed for next week's weigh-in, and I hope you're not letting that 2 pound gain upset you too much.
Hopefully once those scales are fixed, you'll be reporting the loss that you definitely deserve!
I've been hiding away for the past couple of weeks, trying to figure out how to move from my 14st 9 - 10lb plateau
Last week I signed up to slimming world online & logged everything - all my free foods, all my syns - I even did 2 x fitness classes (zumba & body attack)
Weighed myself this morning and GAINED 1lb - couldn't believe it - it was a proper drop to your knees screaming noooooo type of moment (but I managed not to do that)
I am trying to stick with it this month as part of my own personal test / experiment and will try to concentrate on how I feel rather than what the scales say
Question! Low cal - are you going through every reply & collecting stats that way? I wonder if it's possible to do that with 'survey monkey' ? I think if people also log their losses there (on a weight loss survey created by you) it might automatically summarize for you. But I am not sure how it all works - just a suggestion
I did miss you the last couple of weeks, and it's great you've come out of hiding again, and that you're here with us today for the Monday group weigh-in. Welcome back!!!
I realise you are shocked to have gained 1 pound this week, despite having been so active last week and logging everything. But I suspect that what it could be is that you've done quite a lot of exercise, and some new classes etc, and they sound like quite active and 'serious' kind of classes, so I suspect you probably have quite a bit of water weight around your muscles and various ligaments etc, which is helping them to repair after the exercise, and so if you're patient, and keep on track, then next week you will most likely see a larger drop in your weight. So please, try to challenge those feelings of shock and disappointment, and just keep on track, and you'll be celebrating next week.
I really like your 'experiment' to rely more on your own 'feelings' than on the actual numbers on the scale, as this should help you to keep focused and those scale results will 'catch up' in the end.
Gracie, you have made a very good point about the stats. I will have a think about it, and consider whether to try it or not. The stats take about an hour and 15 minutes to do currently, but I realise the thread is growing - so having a more efficient way would be useful. I'll have a good think through of your helpful suggestion - thank you!
Hope you have a great week ahead.
Lowcal
Hi, I'm a newbie and my starting weight is 16st 12lbs. I plan to walk to work more this week and also swim and do a bit of strength training. I want to get down to just under 11st but will see how I feel later. I've also been on myfitnesspal for some time.
Really happy that you decided to join us. I know that you had posted yesterday about stuggling to post your photo in your profile - so if anyone else is reading this reply, and knows how to do that, could you please tell Blue9, as she has a lovely profile photo waiting to be uploaded to her profile. Maybe ScoobaSteve or Hidden or Artsoru could advise, as I know they can do it!!! I even tried to work out how to do it, but couldn't find the information necessary.
Anyway, I'd like to welcome you, Hidden to this Monday group weigh-in. I know you've already got the link to moreless Welcome Newbie post. You've taken the brave step of sharing your starting weight today, and I hope that felt ok to do so. It's often the most daunting step, but hopefully from this day forward you'll be going 'onwards and downwards' with your weight, to achieve your goals. Maybe take your body measurements too - for your own personal reference to be able to see changes on those occasions when the scales don't necessarily show a change. It's great that you've been using an app like Myfitnesspal, that is really helpful. I'd recommend taking a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as it is a good structure.
You've set yourself some good goals for this week, and I'd like to wish you success, and a great first week ahead.
Good morning everyone! I am weighing in for the first time here at 10 stone 4lbs and would like to lose a stone. I'm happy if I lose 1lb a week. Here's to healthy eating and getting fit....
A very warm welcome to you and thanks for joining us for this Monday group weigh-in. I'd like to give you a link to our Welcome Newbie thread, which moreless has collated:
I'd recommend looking at the NHS 12 week plan as a good structure and resource. Using an app alongside that to keep a log of food and drink intake, and exercise is also helpful. Many people use Myfitnesspal, but there are other apps that are used, and there is a free one on the NHS site too.
You've already set yourself a really sensible weekly goal to lose 1 pound per week, and I'd like to wish you a great week ahead, and success in achieving your goals.
Good Morning all! So this week I'm at 9stone so that means that I have lost 1lb sInce las weigh in. From weighing in and out last week I was expecting more but we had a meal out Sat night where whilst I tried I'm sure that I would've gone slightly over my cals and a funny old day yesterday where we ended up in the drop in centre as my husband decided to cut through his finger with a Stanley knife whilst decorating 😕 so I felt that I didn't make such good choices as we snacked and ate late etc although I pretty much stayed within my Cals. So all in all I'm just glad to have lost something!
Stressful couple of days ahead as I have an interview tomorrow which I usually get nervy about!
Good morning!!! What a great result - you've lost 1 pound since last week - Congratulations!!! I hope you enjoyed your meal out on Saturday night. I am so sorry to hear about your husband's accident with the Stanley knife, that is awful. I hope he's patched up and feeling better. Not a great way to spend your Sunday at the drop-in centre, but hopefully he still has his finger intact and attached!?
Really hope your interview goes well tomorrow. Wishing you the very best of luck with it. Hope you manage to keep your nerves under control, but like you say, it's tough. I usually think of a saying 'This too will pass' and that often helps me through those things I'm not looking forward to.
Maybe the interview will be an enjoyable experience, especially if the interviewers help make you feel at ease. I hope they do! Remember that you're also 'interviewing them' in a sense too - i.e. whether you feel you'd like to work for them or not. That might help your mindset too?
Thanks Lowcal yes he's all patched up now Thank you and the main thing is he didn't damage anything inside so just a case of looking after the wound. Some people will do anything to get out of decorating! 😂
I think u r right re the interview and using it as a chance to find out if it's somewhere I would like to join so Thank you for reminding me of that.
It's great that you're using MFP, and planning to walk 10k steps daily. I'd recommend taking a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as that is a linked resource to this Weight Loss NHS community forum, and it's really good. You've taken the brave step of weighing in and posting your starting weight, I hope that felt ok to do so. You could also consider taking your body measurements, as it can be very motivating to see changes in those, especially on those occasions when the scales don't necessarily shift.
Morning Tina - and welcome Check out the newbie pinned post.
Good luck with all your targets and look forward to seeing you next week
Well done Lowcal on losing the weight this week . Seeing the weight coming off is a motivation in itself.
This week my weight has dropped from 12 St 10.75 to 12 St 10.25 lbs, so I lost half a pound . I was hoping for more but it's in the right direction.
Interestingly my waist has increased from 84 to 89 cm. I'm fairly sure that's because I've not quite recovered from the mountain hike the week before last and my back has slipped. Gives the lie to saying the tape measure is more accurate!
Thanks so much for your kind and encouraging words. They are much appreciated! Seeing the weight come off is definitely motivating.
Congratulations to you for losing 0.5 pound this week. I know you were hoping for a bit more, but again, imagine that half pound of fat or lard on the plate, and you can appreciate it is substantial. Like you also say, it's in the right direction. Onwards and downwards.
Very interesting to hear your waist measurement has increased though. Not sure why that would be...! Perhaps it is to do with your mountain hike the week before last, as I know that was substantial. It does bring into question the reliance on any one measure, and using a combination of measures may help sort things out.
Funnily enough Derrygeel, I had a real battle with my waist measurements too. I experienced increased inches, even with lost pounds and thought it would never go down.
Happily, that was not the case and my waist measurement is now slowly and steadily decreasing and I'm sure yours will be just the same
Well done More less and good luck to Ruth! Last week I was 11stone 5 and this week 11 stone 6 , so gained a lb. Was expecting it as kids been on hols all week and been eating more and only been for 1 run. Ah well, back to it today!!
Glad to hear you're back to it today, and well done for getting through the hols with the kids all week and only putting on 1 pound, I think that's a result in itself, as it must be quite tough!
Glad you managed to have 1 run amongst that time, and hope you get back to the number of runs you'd like to have this week. I keep trying to get to the gym twice in the week, but for the past 3 weeks I've only managed it once a week. I really am going to try to achieve 2 visits this week if I can...!
Good luck with this week and hope you have an enjoyable week.
Brilliant work everyone! I was 70.0 last week and I'm 68.8 this morning. Very pleased. I have been ill all week - still not sure what's going on - so done no exercise, but perhaps fighting off infection/virus has done the job for me.
Wow, that's great, you've lost 1.2 kg this week, really good! Congratulations!!! I'm sorry to hear you've been ill all week though, and it's good that you rested to enable you to fight off the infection/virus. I hope you're feeling better now?
Here's to a great week ahead, and hopefully better health for you.
Lowcal
Good morning Lowcal! Major congrats on your 1lb loss this week, sounds like you made good choices over your husband's birthday weekend, and perhaps your 1 gym session is more effective than you realise. Yay 😊
I have a maintain to report this week, which I'm very pleased with! I'm still 9st11, the top end of my maintaining range of 9st8-9st11. Achieving this really helps me feel things are under control and this new weight is sustainable. Especially as I'm putting much of my recent weight loss down to sheer stress! And I haven't been being perfect food-wise either. But good intentions are all set in place for the week ahead, maybe a run, some more cycling, make some soup for the freezer, and hopefully I'll continue to maintain.
It's lovely to see you! Thanks again for all your hard work and commitment to the Fab 5'ers team over the past years - I can't thank you enough. Your help has been invaluable, and you have contributed a lot. Thank you.
Thanks for your kind words - yes, maybe that 1 gym session is more effective than I realise - I am imagining how much better it would be if I can actually make it to 2 sessions this week - I must persevere!
Glad you're feeling happy with maintaining this week, as maintaining is so much better than gaining - so Congratulations! You're in the top end of your maintaining range, and it's great to hear you're feeling that your new weight range is sustainable. Like you say, you've had a significant amount of stress recently with your house move and so many job responsibilities and changes etc, it's been really full on for you. I don't know how you've managed to cope, but it shows how good you are at managing stuff that you've got through it all. Well done!
Let me know what type of soup you end up making, I'm always on the look out for new recipes for lovely soups.
Good luck with all your goals for this week, and wishing you a fabulous week. Are you going to persevere with your Strength exercises? I am definitely hoping to keep up with mine this month.
Thanks Lowcal! I don't think it's been years, so much as maybe 6 months-1 year - I only joined the site in late Jan2015 to do couch to 5k, and didn't really become active on the Weight Loss forum until May 2015. But I hope to stick around for a while yet!
As far as soup goes I hope to recreate this amyskitchen.co.uk/products/... -it's so delicious but £2.09/can - so I'm going to try to recreate it. I'm using mung beans instead of red beans (as that's what I have in), I also have the brown rice, sweetcorn, tinned tomatoes/tomato puree and various herbs and spices, so I need to get some green peppers, green chillies and courgettes and then I think the rest will be down to the seasoning. I'll let you know how it goes!
Well, it shows testiment to how much I value your friendship as a past Fab 5'er and lovely member of the community that I thought you'd been around here for years like me...!!! I've been here over 3 years now. Time flies!!!
I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on with that lovely soup Ruth, it looks fantastic, and I hope to try it out too when you update us. I'm sure you'll do an excellent job of replicating the soup and it will be delicious!
Thanks LTL - I'd argue maintaining isn't actually the hardest part - partly as that gives me way more credit than I deserve! - there's much more leeway than losing, but I think people make the mistake of relaxing too much. You definitely don't have to continue as vigilantly as while losing weight, but at the same time you can't go back to all the old habits that made the weight pile on in the first place. It's a happy medium in between
Hi Lowcal, well done with reaching your goal of 1lb! That's great especially with it being your husband's birthday too!
Sorry to ask but I'm not sure what I actually weighed last week! Could you let me know then I can be accurate! Sorry I know how busy Monday's are!
As it's my birthday today I'm not too optimistic as I've already eaten out over the weekend and my husband has taken a day's holiday from work to take me to the Lake District for the day! Lovely man!
Well done to moreless on her fantastic weight loss! Have a lovely holiday we'll all miss you!
Thank you, I must say I was pleased to achieve the pound off. But a highly motivating factor for me during the week has been ScoobaSteve 's challenge to try to lose more weight than him (in a safe way of course), and that definitely helped spur me on mid week, but of course when the Birthday celebrations for my hubby arrived over the weekend, I realised it was too tough to really succeed with that, but I am pretty sure that it helped me to achieve my goal to lose 1 pound, so all in all, that's a fantastic result for me. I am looking forward to seeing how Steve got on too.
Wow, Jesterpuss1 - it's YOUR Birthday today!!!!! Happy Birthday!!!!! I hope you have a really wonderful day. How lovely that you're off to the Lake District with your lovely husband for a day out - that is really great. I hope you have a wonderful day and enjoy every moment!
I will just pop and have a look to see what you weighed last week. I really hope you're still there to read this, but if you've already gone on your trip out, then just log in later today when you're ready to report back on your weight difference. I'll be back in just a jiffy with last week's weight...
One moment...
Back again - basically Jesterpuss1, I couldn't find any indication of what your weight is, as you usually report on the weight change each week - I checked back as far as 7th March, and you hadn't mentioned your actual weight then either, only the changes - so I think it would be hard to help you to know how much weight you've lost this week - but what you said last week (4th April) was that you had lost 1 pound that week, so maybe that will help you to know how much you've changed this week?
Otherwise, if you're not sure, we could just put you down for a maintain this week, and then just keep an eye on it for next week? Let me know what you'd like me to do - but only when it's convenient, as you're having your special day - Happy Birthday again - so concentrate on having a great day in the Lake District with your lovely husband.
One of the presents I chose is a faux black ' leather' jacket - a tad too small! I resisted the urge to buy ' my size! " 😁 its very trendy! I luv it! So here goes I have to get in it! Comfortably!! 😁
I agree that congratulations are in order and I would like to thank Ruth and lowcall and the other Fab Fivers for all the work and support you give everyone. WE couldn't do it without you and we really appreciate it. Also congrats on the weight loss and enjoy the holiday...
AS for me, and my monday weigh in, oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I would like to miss today's reporting. i am afraid that I am 1.2kg HEAVIER than last week. What happened to my good intentions? oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. What can I blame it on - a friend sending us fudge from Devon which no-one else in my family liked; another friend arriving with a box of goodies and sitting down with beer to eat it all (and insisting he could not eat alone - so crisps, baclava, beer, etc), another friend's daughter's confirmation and a massive celebratory party. And work stress - so all in all, not a good week.
But, its still much better than when I started. Today i'm 65.6kg. last week I was 64.4kg. I started at 70.5kg and I guess the important thing is not to loose sight of that and not to go back to that. So, i'll start work today again to focus on getting back down to 64.4kg. My ultimate aim is to be 60kg and that's not so far away... so here we go again for the next week...
Thank you so much for your really kind words and encouragement to us. We will all appreciate those words.
I am so sorry to hear you've gained 1.2 kg this week. I can see there were a good few factors to contribute to that gain - what with the fudge from Devon, the beer and box of goodies with our friend, the other friend's Daughter's Confirmation and a massive celebratory party - plus work stress - that makes a cocktail for weight gain - very definitely.
But like you say, your weight is better than when you started, and sometimes weeks do happen like that, and the best thing to do is just move forward from it - but learn from how things went at the same time, so that hopefully you can make some subtle changes the next time you're faced with similar events or circumstances. You have lost a total of 4.9kgs, that is fantastic! You're getting closer to your goal of 60kg, and you are focusing on achieving that. Put last week behind you, move forward, and here's to an Onwards and downwards trend for this week!
Argh! What a week - I think anyone would have struggled with that. I do like your positive attitude at looking at the long-term situation, which is very sensible. You have done so well and will continue to do well, I am sure!
Hi Lowcal, thanks, I did download the nhs 12 week plan too. My daughter is printing it out for me later. It was very daunting telling you all my starting weight, i only ever tell my daughter in real life! It's out there now, phew, lol
Great that your daughter is printing out the 12 week plan. I can completely understand how daunting it felt to share your weight 'publicly' so to speak, so I think you were very brave to do that. But we are all anonymous on here, and we're all in the same boat.
Well done Low cal on losing and keep up the brilliant work ......I can't believeThat I have stayed the same this week. ...13st 5..I went to the gym twice and I have walked around a lot more and I have stuck to fitness pal calories...maybe I should only be having 1000 calories and not 1200.....any suggestions? 5 weeks on Friday to hols..getting a little desparate now , need tö get inot my dresses and holiday clothes..Please HELP!
I would stick with the 1200 calories Bigirl57 and give it another week, also measure yourself as you could be losing inches. 😊 My weight goes up/stays the same, then suddenly comes down, 😊 Well done on lots of exercise too 😊 You will be looking fab by your holiday
I wouldn't reduce your calories any further or your body might go into starvation mode and hang on to the fat all the more. If anything, I would suggest increasing as you need the energy to work out effectively. I am now sticking to between 1400-1600 (mostly nearer the 1600, LOL) and managing to lose weight, despite dieting since last September.
Are you doing a little weight-training at the gym? Increasing muscle mass helps keep your metabolism up and muscle needs more calories to maintain.
Anyway, as Anna says, you may be someone who maintains for a week or two and then has a good drop the next week.
Sorry to see you go Ruth, although we'll still see you around!
A 1.5lb loss this week, despite 2 meals out, which I'm quite impressed with! We started tennis lessons last week, so had 2 games of tennis (3 hours total), and a couple of nice long walks.
I started new painkillers last week and was worried I'd be left gaining weight, but thankfully they haven't so far.
My first Monday weigh in. The scales say 12 st 2.75 lbs. Two weeks till my holiday, so you can guess my weight hopes by then! Well done to all who have done so well this week.
Aww, thanks so much Bg, that's a lovely thing to say. I did have a fab holiday and am now trying to catch up with everything
Good morning everyone.
Congratulations to you, if you've achieved what you wanted.
Last week I weighed 10st 12lb, this week I've maintained again 😫 However I did binge last Monday and Tuesday with comfort food after a difficult Monday morning and I had a family meal Tuesday night and it was my son's birthday party yesterday. Despite upping my exercise and keeping within my calorie allowance for four days, it wasn't enough. But I accept that. No pain, no gain 😄
This week my target is not to cheat once this week. I might need to post every day for support to do this, but wish me luck.
Wow, that is brilliant, Son1, you are doing so well - trimming 3 inches from your waist, too - amazing, you will be needing some smaller clothes soon, if not already!
Well done to more less for your weight loss. Also to Lowcal for losing a lb this week. I have lost 1/2lb this week I am pleased because this is the first for a long time. Next week I would love to loss a 1lb. Good luck to everyone.
Well done Lowcal, good luck ruthcanalrunner and have a fab holiday moreorless. I so happy for you all. I'm happy to report 3lb of this week that's 12 pound now since i started on 22 february, so I'm chasing that 1 stone for next week. Woop woop !!!
Ooooh, that is exciting, Whyweight, you have had a great week and I will be crossing my fingers that you hit that 1 stone mark next week! I have borrowed Moreless's pom-poms and shall shake them for you!
Fantastic results from Moreorless - inspirational!
I was 87.2 last week and 87.1 today. Lost 100grs again. That's such a tiny loss. I'll rejoice nonetheless. Just thought of measuring my waist which I hadn't done in 6 weeks and I've lost 2 inches. I'm exercising a lot perhaps I'm building muscle
This week I am going to log my food on MFP which I haven't done in a while and use the 12 plan recording sheets as I found that really motivating before.
As they say, a loss is a loss and that is certainly better than a gain. It does sound like you are converting fat into muscle judging by your decrease in waist measurement, so keep up the good work and the scales will catch up eventually!
Hi, I have completed my first week and thought it went well, even though I had more calories than I should on the weekend, I was still under the max recommended by the NHS website. I have stayed the same, same weight, same waist measure. My scale also measures body fat and I increased 1% But I will try harder this week! Hope you all had better news! xx
Just consider last week as a practice week, it does take a little time to get into the swing of things (I certainly struggled for a week or two at the beginning).
Well done for sticking with it and I am sure next week will be easier and you will lose a decent amount.
Just holler if you have any questions or need any help!
Hi!
Had a very odd week. Didn't eat particularly well this week so expected to gain a few pounds. I only gained 0.5 pounds. The weirdest bit? I also dropped 6cm from my waist! No idea what happened there!
The body is a weird and wonderful machine, isn't it? How great that you only gained half a pound and well done on the 6cm loss from your waist, those are really the results that matter.
I hope this week is less odd for you and that you continue to shed those cms!
Well done Lowcal, a pound loss is excellent and to moreless as well 5 stones loss is awesome and lets hope she does not stray too much on her holidays
So this week I can report a loss of 3lbs! I started at 15st 10lbs and today I am at 15st 7lbs. I am really happy about this and it also is the end of the 12th week of being on the plan and in the forum.
My total loss for the 12 weeks is 2 stones 5lbs so 33lbs and my BMI has gone from 33.8 - Obese to 29.4 - overweight.
Total inches lost = 25
Waist down from 48 inches to 41 inches
Interestingly I also got my blood results last week and was pleased to see that my liver function tests have all come down to within the recommended levels for Bilirubin and ALT levels, (both of these levels were elevated at the start of the 12 week plan), I am going for a repeat for my cholestrol levels this morning to make sure they have not risen since I stopped taking statins at the beginning of the year.
I have now reviewed my targets;
Weekly loss of 2lbs for next week
My long term target weight is to reach 14 stones by my birthday on 7th August this year, I never thought I would be within sight of this weight ever again! So being aware that my weight loss will slow down as I reach my target weight then an average of 1.25lbs a week I think is both realistic and achievable
I will be off on holiday for 5 weeks on 24th April so my next weigh in will be my last until 30th May so like moreless I am hoping to at least maintain whilst I am away.
Well done John kantara71 😊 You have done so well, and are always so encouraging to the rest of us 😊 I feel sure you will get to you target and you now have all the good habits to support you on your trip away.
Well done John, that is fantastic progress! I'm sure you'll manage maintenance for your hols as you've completed the plan so the tools are all there to use
That is wonderful, John, 3lbs this week is amazing and your test results are wonderful. Fingers crossed for similarly good results for the cholesterol tests too!
Thanks for your kind words John, I strayed a little, but only to the tune of 0.75lbs, so I'm feeling pretty chuffed
What an amazing 12 weeks you've had! Hats off to you, all your determined effort has paid off. I too, hope that you won't stray too far on your holiday
Well done on your loss, even with birthday etc to interrupt you are obviously well in control of your eating 😊 Good luck with the gym and your S&F 😊
Also, very well done to moreless , I know how hard you have worked to get down for this holiday, have a lovely time 😊 Five stone loss is incredible 😊
Thank you to Hidden and all the admin team, it is tremendous job you do keeping up to date with all the posts on here 😊
I have had a very good week, stuck to plan and saved some extra calories for daughter-in-laws birthday dinner. Weigh in this morning at 71.9 kg, down from last Monday 73.5, loss of 1.6 kg 😊 BMI now under 30 and the Easter weekend gain well and truly behind me. I am on target to get below 70 for my holiday and birthday in May 😊 Having the exercise bike track the calories burned is really useful, if I am tempted to eat I can know how hard I will need to work to burn the calories off 😕 My brain has suddenly made this connection, doh!!
Wow, Anna! That is amazing! Now you are under 30BMI that means you are out of the obese range - fantastic!
I am glad you are enjoying the bike too, especially now that your brain has made the connection food/calorie-wise, it really does help focus the mind. I am sure you will hit target for your birthday at this rate!
My wish too, so, of course we will 😊 I was reading somewhere the longer you stay on plan the better chance of permanent success, 12 months being the magic amount of time 😊 I'm 9 months in 😊
Pleased to report another 1.5kg off this week, down to 134.5kg. Not too bad as I had to fit in two nights of pre-booked fine dining on a midweek break. It looks as though the extra three days of hillwalking I fitted in helped offset some of the damage! Straight back in the groove now. Onward and downward.
Great result Wolff, I am sure the hillwalking helped immensely, it is a sustained level of exercise - and so enjoyable so you are hardly aware you are working out!
I started my journey on the 29/2 at 12st9, 6/3 12st7, 14/3 12st6, 21/3 12st4, 28/3 12st2, 4/4 12st2 and today 12/4 11st11 😀 since I've joined your forum I've been so inspired by all your posts as you can see I've lost loads!!!! Thank you, thank you so much x
Boy you have got the hang of this haven't you Clare? 12lbs loss in 6 weeks, bang on target keep it up and so well done on getting into the 11s, it won't be long before you will be waving them goodbye too! John
Thanks John for your kind words. Can't believe how well I've done either, started this weight loss plan to feel better in my existing clothes but the rate I'm going gonna need a new wardrobe (don't think hubby will be impressed 😀) sorry if I sound a bit smug, but I suppose I am !!! If I can cut my portions down, eat less sugar, more veg and fruit, drink more water and feel great anyone can do it xxxx
You have every right to feel smug! It does sound simple but it is being able to stick at it and having the motivation to keep doing the right thing. That is where this forum is so brilliant
Totally agree with u. We will have to see if I keep going down, I'm new to weight loss (never dieted before) but so far enjoying new foods and smaller portions. Don't feel bloated or sick after gorging on loads of food. Love this forum and all its hints and tips from lovely people. Like they say ... onwards and (hopefully) downwards!!
Hi everyone, into another week. Well done Lowcal and I hope the stats go OK- I certainly couldn't work out anything mathematical! I hope my tale will encourage all those feeling a bit stuck this week- after about 6 weeks losing half a pound in total I lost about 3 pounds this week by following advice last week to 'mix it up a bit' an d vary my diet as well as keeping better records. I didn't manage to give up wine but cut it down. Achievable goals eh. I think I was 11.3.4 last week and this week I am 11.0.4 apparently....just as well as I am off on holiday to New York this week with my grown up son. He has autism and enjoys eating out - oooo er....wish me luck.My goal is to maintain.
But thanks for your brilliant advice last week which seems to have speeded up my metabolism again, phew. A breakfast of an egg and toast, and no more cup a soup for lunch (no nutrition) but something tasty but calorie controlled.
Yes another week is here! Thank you so much for your kind words. I don't like Maths either - it's definitely not my strong point, but it is an enjoyable process to touch base with everyone's weight results each week, so I don't mind taking the stats on - I did them this week, and it wasn't too bad.
I am thrilled to hear what a great result you've had this week - losing 3 pounds - that is amazing! You're so close to the 10's, you are literally almost touching them!!! How exciting that you're off to New York with your grown up son - I hope you have a really wonderful time - such an exciting city. Good luck, as I know you said your son loves eating out! It's sensible that you've set yourself a goal to maintain.
I do think having good nutrition in the calories you put into your body, and achieving healthy balance is definitely the way forward, and you have clearly got a winning formula now.
What a lovely positive message for a grey and damp Monday morning! Well done everyone.
Last week I weighed 14 stone 6.5 lbs. This week I weigh 14 stone 5lbs and I have lost 1.5lbs. I am really chuffed with myself as it has been a tough week without the prop of emotional eating I used to rely on at such times. But it can be done (obviously)!
I have lost a total of 3.5 inches off my waist since I started the 12 week plan which is FANTASTIC and explains why I look and feel slimmer.
I hope the grey and damp Monday brightens up soon so it's warm, dry and hopefully sunnier as the day progresses. Like you say, at least we can start off with a positive message - and there are plenty of positive messages within this morning session so far. Very inspiring!
Congratulations to you for losing 1.5 pounds this week. That is a great result. I realise you've had a tough week and that you might normally rely on emotional eating during such times, but the fact you've not done that this week, and you've got through so positively is really fantastic. Well done!
Lovely that you've also noticed 3.5 inches off your waist measurement - that is indeed fantastic! Great that you're looking and feeling slimmer.
Brilliant Sprout, those inches off the waist do make you feel so much better don't they? I am off out to buy some 38 inch waist trousers to give me added incentive to lose enough to get into them !
Well; yet again... stuck at 11 stone and a half pound . Have been under in the week and people say I look 'well' a lot! That euphemism for 'wow you've lost weight!'.
Got to the gym and swam. Went out last night but actually that usually adds on a good two pounds so maybe it's not too bad.
Birthday this week... Need to avoid self-sabotaging behaviours...
Congrats #moreless and all best #ruthcanalrunner - have enjoyed all your comments.
It's so great to hear that you've had some lovely compliments on your weight loss, as clearly you are looking slimmer and people are noticing that. I know the scales have stuck on 11 stone and half a pound. I find they can be quite reluctant to shift down at the 'stone markers' - I got stuck in the 13's for absolutely ages, but finally saw the 12's. Hopefully you'll be seeing the 10's very soon. Congratulations on maintaining your weight, as that is much better than gaining!
Good luck with surviving your Birthday week without too much excess, although celebrations are tough to get through without a gain. But it is possible!
If you're tagging moreless and Hidden then you can use the '@' sign before their names, and it will tag them.
Wishing you a lovely Birthday when it comes, and have a great week.
Last week 245 lbs, this week 244.8 so a miniscule loss in a week I expected to gain as had almost a week away with no food counting, bad eating and slightly less exercise than usual...followed yesterday with a day out with family which involved good food and wine and chocolate. so not sure how I lost...but I'll take it happily.
Congratulations on losing 0.2 pound this week, it all counts, and it's in an onwards and downwards direction, that is really great! I know you were expecting to gain as you've been away for a week with no food counting, and you feel you've done some bad eating and slightly less exercise than usual, and you had your family day out yesterday with good food, wine and chocolate - so it's a definite pleasant surprise that you've lost some weight. Glad you're taking it happily!
Good morning, I am pleased to tell you I have lost 1lb this week, this takes me to a total of 10lb lost since 15th Feb. My next 'mini' goal is to lose 4lb which takes me to my first stone weight loss. I even coped with a birthday lunch in an Italian restaurant with CAKE at the weekend. Had 2 gin and slimline tonic, then water at the table, so pleased with my self control. I'll try my very best to keep up the momentum.
Good morning! It's great news to hear you've lost 1 pound this week, and that you've achieved a total loss of 10 pounds since 15th February. That is fantastic progress - Congratulations!!!
Brilliant that you also enjoyed a Birthday lunch in an Italian restaurant with cake at the weekend. You enjoyed your 2 gin and slimline tonics and then water at the table - that is great self-control - well done!
Good luck with keeping up the momentum, and wishing you onward success with your next goal.
Congratulations Moreless on such a great achievement , what an inspiration. I've been away so haven't been logging my weight . However I started at 16 st 1lb and weighed in this morning at 15st 8ibs.. I'm back on week 2 now and determined to keep going. My latest gadget is a Fitbit which is helping on the walking and fitness side.
Great that you're back with us again. I'll log you in the stats as a re-starter, but well done on the total weight loss of 7 pounds that you've achieved since you started on your weight loss journey, that's a really great achievement.
Great that you're enjoying using your new Fitbit gadget, and that it's helping you to keep up your walking and fitness.
Wishing you success with Week 2, and you're sounding determined to keep going. I am sure you will do it!
Morning All, well it has been a good few weeks since I weighed in for various reasons including a bad back and daughter ill etc! But time to face those scales.... I have gained 6 lbs in the time I have not weighed in. Current weight 12stone 7 lbs. Aim is 11 .11. Pleased that I have made it back to gym this week 3 times and lots of walking (unfortunately, also meals out and people providing pizza!). Anyway back to routine hopefully this week). Lowcal looks like you have been doing well , and congrats on getting in the 12s! Ruth, thank you for all the support on here. Moreless - wow amazing achievement, enjoy the hols!
It's great to have you back with us again, and I checked back to find you last weighed in with us on 7th March 2016 so that's a month ago (4 weeks), so I'll divide your 6 pound gain by 4 to give an average weekly gain of 1.5 pound for the weekly stats. I hope that's ok with you.
Great that you've made it back to the gym and managed 3 sessions there - really good. Also, lots of walking is great too. Hope you enjoyed your meals out and that the pizza was tasty. I think pizzas can vary so much with regard to how calorific they are - thin bases can make a difference and having lots of healthy vegetables and olive oil on top and so they can vary massively with regard to how much they contribute to the calorie count.
Thanks for your encouraging words - which are much appreciated!
Hope you have a great week ahead. You are sounding back on track and focused, so I think you'll have an excellent week.
Congratulations to everyone here, its great to share the journey with others. I lost 3lb this week and hit my first target by moving from obese to overweight. Very satisfying. Another 3 stone to go, seems a massive ask but I am going to tackle it ½ stone at a time.
Wow, you've lost 3 pounds this week - Congratulations!!! You've hit your first target and you're now no longer in the obese category, that is fantastic!!! Glad you're feeling satisfied.
Very sensible to set yourself mini-goals of half a stone at a time, much more motivating and continually satisfying as you tick off each goal towards your ultimate target.
Wow it is so inspiring to read about your weight loss Zest and that moreless has achieved her goal to lose 5st by her holidays, just amazing. My week has been good overall considering my sisters birthday and and a catching up session in the pub with a friend. I kept on with running and walking so my activity is up although I've not seen all the benefit of this on the scales due to the alcohol!
Still, I've lost 0.8kg this week last Monday I was 114.5kg and now I'm 113.7kg so thats 3.3kg loss in my first two weeks, which I am delighted about. I'm away all next weekend so I think I'll set my target for next week to lose another 1kg, onwards and downwards!!
Thanks for your encouraging words. It is inspiring to read people's achievements isn't it. I am always amazed by how great people are doing, and it's really brilliant to be part of this Monday group weigh-in - as everyone is very supportive and encouraging.
Glad you've had a good week, despite having your sister's Birthday celebrations, and your catch-up pub session with your friend - great that you kept up with your running and walking.
Congratulations on losing 0.8 kg this week, and to achieving a total weight loss of 3.3kg in your first 2 weeks, that is excellent progress. Really well done!
I hope you enjoy your weekend away, and good luck with your target to lose 1kg for next week.
Congratulations on maintaining your weight this week, it is brilliant progress and means you've not re-gained any of the excellent losses of the previous two weeks, so it's a great result.
You're enigmatically written "Next week...." - and I am presuming that means you're focused on a loss on the scales for then, so good luck! You're doing really well - have a great week.
Lowcal
Hi well done to Moreless. Fantastic result. Well done Lowcal for losing weight even with celebrations. I have lost another 1/2lb this week which I am pleased about. It may be only a little each week but over a year that would add up to quite a bit. Hubby wants to lose weight when he has his three months off work so we will lose weight together then which would hopefully make it easier.
Way to go, Lowcal and Moreless! It's good to be back on the forum catching the positive vibes.
Thank you to everyone who responded to my recent news with comforting words and virtual hugs. Despite the odd chunk of Easter egg and occasional takeaway and loss of normal routines of exercise, I'm maintaining even though my weight is not my top priority at this time. Last time I weighed in I was 52.3 and now 51.5 so a loss of 0.8 kg. Thankfully, I learned healthier ways of living before tragedy struck. I did lose my appetite a bit and was down to 50.4 at one point but knew thus was down to stress etc.
Got a way to go dealing with things but making progress. The funeral is next Tuesday, but the inquest not until July, and meanwhile we have our mother's care to sort out. Her GP has been very helpful. Strange flitting between London and Birmingham like this. I'm rambling, need to shut up now! 😄
Guys, enjoy the life you have even though some aspects of it are very tough, you are all strong and you can achieve your goals! Have a great week 😊
Welcome back, and again - sincere condolences and another virtual hug - I know you have such a lot on your plate as a family at the moment, and I hope you all have the strength to get through it all and support one another. I will say Congratulations on the fact you're maintaining your weight through all this stress, but I know that your weight is the least of your concerns currently - but I really appreciate the fact you've popped in here today to touch base with everyone, as I know that many of us who know you have been thinking of you, and hoping you're ok.
If I don't hear from you before the funeral next Tuesday, then I'd like to wish you the best on the day, and hope the next week is ok.
You've given some very encouraging words to us at the end of your post, and I'd like to say that they are much appreciated, and here's to us all making the most of our health and our lives, and living in the moment, in the best way we can.
Take care, and hope to catch up with you again soon.
Thanks so much for your kind words. Much appreciated as always.
Yes, Hidden is indeed an excellent motivator, and it's great that she'll still be around and about in the forum. I think she's helped many of us to increase our body strength with her Strength Challenges over the years.
Glad you enjoy reading the stats, and I will ensure they continue!
Wishing you a great week, and I'll look out for your next update post.
Good morning all, congrats to Zest , Moreless and other losers on your weightlosses, and happy holidays to moreless ! I've had a great week 3, had lots of time to exercise and completed three decent runs and three long walk/hikes this week. Kept to 1400 calories (or just a few cals over) religiously and logged everything in MyFitnessPal. Was 99.4 kg or 219.1 lbs last Monday, and this morning I weighed 97.6 kg or 215.2 lbs, so I'm pleased to report a 3,9 lbs weight loss. I'm very happy NHS plan is working and weight loss is going well. Only thing missing was strength exercises, but I promise to work on that this week. Onwards and downwards !
Good morning! Glad to hear you've had a great Week 3 - wow, you've certainly achieved lots of great exercise, that is brilliant! Well done for keeping to your calories and logging everything on MFP. Wow, a 3.9 pound weight loss - that is really great! Congratulations!!!
Good luck with committing to your Strength Exercises this week - I do them too, and find them invaluable. Really helps to tone and strengthen.
Glad you're enjoying the NHS 12 week plan and that it's working for you! That's an excellent result in Week 3 - your weight loss will most likely begin to level off now to between 1 and 2 pounds per week (although it's not a fine science of course!) but usually greater weight loss happens in the first couple of weeks or so, and then it levels off. But don't be disheartened by that change, if it happens, as visualising half a pound of fat/lard on a plate can show you how great an achievement it is to lose that amount.
Although I'm new, I'd like to pass on my congratulations to Moreless. Enjoy the holiday, truly deserved.
Well done Lowcal too, another lb down - I would love to be where you are, although it seems a long way off to me. However, I'm into my third week and still smiling
Like I said, this is the start of my 3rd week. So here is my weigh in:
Week 0: 21st 9lbs
Week 1: 21st 3lbs (6lb loss)
Week 2: 21st 1lbs (2lb loss)
Was hoping for more, but with my back problem and not being as mobile as I'd like, a loss is a loss.
Week 3: I aim to be a touch under 21st - fingers crossed.
That is an excellent loss over the past couple of weeks and I am sure at this rate, you will be in the 20stone range next week. Have a great week ahead and I look forward to seeing how well you have done next Monday!
Hi, I am a newbie with just over a stone to lose. I am 10St 3lbs/64kgs. I have been reading through posts and it is so motivating as you are all doing so well.
Hi Lisa welcome- a stone just 14lbs will make you tip top for summer! Do you have a plan? Take a look at the nhs choices 12 week plan, look forward to your results next week
Morning everyone, this week I had aimed to lose 2.5lb. I was doing really well and had lost 2lb by Saturday morning, so was on target for 2.5lb by this morning. However my friends invitied me out for food on Saturday and Sunday, leading to a 1lb loss this week. I'm still happy with the loss as I could have gained.
It's my friends birthday on Wednesday and she's invited me to her sister's dinner party as her guest so I'll aim for a 1.5lb loss this week instead of a 2.5lb loss
Well done on losing your target of 1lb this week lowcal.
Also wishing moreless a great time on holiday and thanks to Ruth for all of the hard work she has put in on the forum!
Hi Steve a great tactical week for you, and hope you enjoy your dinner party, life needs to continue and you are working it in nicely have a great week and a good loss
Morning. Well done to you and Moreless. Great results.
week 2 result: put on 1lb so now 11st 13lbs.
Not too disappointed. Two days ago I was 1lb down but my period is due any day and I feel quite bloated. I know I've tracked all my food on mfp and been walking and running this week. So have done what I need to do. Going for a 2lb loss for this coming week to balance what I hope is mother nature's blip😉
Dam Mother Nature!😁 But you are dealing with it sensibility and your exercise seems spot on, I am sure this will reap results next week- have a great week
this week I put on 3.5 lb and now weigh 14 stone 5. Didn't help with 4 days of overeating while my parents were down spoiling me. Hubby and I don't normally do desserts but we had one each day while the parents were staying plus biscuits and cake mid morning and afternoon. My walking also diminished while they were here.
Forgot to bring breakfast into work so ate the quarter bagette that I brought into work for part of my lunch instead. At least that way I won't go out and get chocolate and nibble.
Small steps I am sure you can get back on track this week, put it behind you, have you tried counting calories on my fitness pal? It's certainly an eye opener enjoy your reboot and have a great week
I've stayed the same this week. It's my own fault I got complaisant and didn't write down what I ate. So its back to the drawing board and keeping a food diary for me.
Hi, but at least it was not a gain, you know what you need to do and are knuckling down to it giving you a minus something next week, good luck and have a great week ❗️
Congratulations for maintaining your weight this week, we always congratulate people because a maintain is always better than a gain in our books!
Keeping a food diary is definitely a helpful strategy and I'm sure it will help you to keep on track this week, and no doubt that will be realised in a loss on the scales (all being well) next week.
Firstly congratulations lowcal on managing to lose 1lb despite birthday celebrations and Moreless is truly inspiring
Thanks Ruth for all you've done and It's good that you are staying around.
Now for the bad news! This week my scales are telling me I've gained 2.5lbs
Last week they said I'd lost 2lbs and I didn't believe that as I hadn't been sticking to my diet very well so I think the answer is new scales!!!
I'm 0.5lb more than I was 2 weeks ago and I think that's probably all I've put on but for your stats then we will have to take this week's 2.5lb gain My problem is that I'm not feeling very motivated and this happens to me every time I go on a diet. I get to a certain weight and feel fat, bloated and miserable and find it easy to diet and stick to it; then I lose a bit and feel better and then struggle to keep to it. Anyway, it's a new week so I'm going to try harder.
Hi Caroline chin up! It's funny isn't it how its easy to believe the scales when they are showing a loss even when you know they are not quite right😊 Keep with us and you will continue to see results look at moreless fantastic progress, have a good week and stay focused 🖐🏾
Yes I have renewed motivation this week! I'm determined to lose even if only a fraction of a lb. My partner has just returned from a weekend watching a bike race and has bought me a big box of Lindor chocolates which I've hidden away for a thinner day!
I do understand how you feel, it's a struggle to be motivated when you start to feel better 😕 Could you have a mini Chalkenge? A summer dress maybe? Or just have an exercise target? Good luck, I'm sure you will do it 😊
Thanks for your support. Yes I do have a skirt in my wardrobe that I used to wear about 10 years ago; it's a Next denim so I like to think it's not dated For a long while I haven't been able to zip it up but I tried it on yesterday and it fits still a bit too tight for comfort but a couple more lbs should do it so that's my aim
Thanks for your kind words Caroline, I really hope that I can inspire you. Honestly, if I can do it, so can you! I have another 4 stone to go, so let's do it together
I really need to make more effort as my weight is creeping back up, 1lb more this week which has given me a much needed kick up the rear! Yesterday I was very good but still 0.25lb more today than yesterday. I think I'm back on track now though with my eating x
Well done moreless that's fantastic and enjoy your hols. Zest your 1lb down well done with the hubby's b'day wish I could say that I've stayed the same as last week 16st 7lbs which wasn't a gain after my b'day so that's a plus. Hoping to loose 2lbs this week and get back on track. Good luck to everyone this coming week keep smiling 😀
We are entitled to take our foot off the gas, and your birthday is a good reason! Hop back on the bus you can have moreless space as she is on hols, that said there is always room on the weight loss bus it's a double decker you know. Have a great week😉
I would like to join the Monday weigh in as I'm totally lacking in motivation but need to lose a stone (this is history repeating itself). So today I'm really going to start! I weigh 10st this morning, it has even crept up this week so now I'm really going to get on track.
I'd recommend trying the NHS 12 week plan, as it is a great resource and is linked to this Weight Loss NHS community forum. Many of us use an app alongside to help record food and drink intake and exercise. It definitely helps.
Thank you for sharing your starting weight today, and I hope that felt ok to do that, it can be a bit daunting at first, but here's to an onwards and downwards trend for the future.
I hope you can gain some motivation from being part of this community, and please do post frequently and reply to people's posts - as it really helps to get to know people - they are supportive and friendly.
You might want to consider taking your body measurements too, so you can see changes in those, as they can be motivating, especially on those occasions when the scales get stuck (which they sometimes do!).
A warm welcome to you a stone doesn't seem like a lot every pound is a triumph - great you are nipping it in the bud, have a great week (have a look at the 12 week plan if you need starting point)
Don't be disappointed, celebrate every pound, carry on the good work! If you lost a single pound every week that's 52lb in a year! Have a great week onwards and downwards
Don't let it worry you, sometimes the scales take a week or two to catch up. Keep on watching what you eat and doing the exercises, it will show up on the scales eventually - maybe even as soon as next week!
1.5 lb weight loss this week. ....really pleased as it's going in the right direction. Not too far away from 11st now. Just 3.5 lbs to go and I can't remember the last time I was this close to it. This forum is what has made the changes for me, useful tips and inspiring stories.
This week I am continuing with exercise and going to try the 10 000steps challenge and drink water not wine!!
Wow, that's a great result - Congratulations on losing 1.5 pounds this week - a good amount and in the right direction - and like you say, you're not too far away from 11 stone now! Glad you're finding the forum to be useful and I agree, there are so many inspiring stories out there. Really good!
Good luck with achieving your 10,000 steps per day, and enjoy that water! Great that you're continuing with the exercise, it's all good for health and vitality.
Congratulations to Moreless, you Lowcal and all losers. I have missed logging in for a few weeks been a bit under the weather. When I weighed this morning I was 17st 3lbs so I haven't lost or gained which I suppose is something considering we had Easter celebrations to take into account.
Now I am feeling better I am determined to get back on track and pick up on my exercises
So sorry to hear you've been a bit under the weather, and it's good to see you back with us again. Welcome back.
I think you've done incredibly well to maintain your weight despite feeling under the weather, and to get through the Easter Celebrations too, it's definitely an achievement, so Congratulations on maintaining. Much better than a gain.
Glad to hear you're feeling better now, and I'm sure you'll have a good week ahead, as you're sounding positive and focused.
Morning. A holiday sounds amazing Moreless, hope you have a fabulous time!
Well done on your 1lb loss lowcal. And to all the rest of you. I haven't had time to read it all. My 3 year old isn't the most patient and he won't let me spent too much time on the computer, lol.
I weighed in at 81.4 kg this week, so I have lost 0.6 kg Pleased about that as with the kids of school my routine has been a bit messed up the last 2 weeks. I would love to loose 1 kg this week.
Good morning! Thanks for your kind words. Much appreciated!
Congratulations on losing 0.6 kg this week, that is really brilliant! I can imagine how tough it was having the kids off school last week, and your routine being messed around the last 2 weeks as a result. Hope your 3 year old will allow you time to have a read through the many posts later, as they are inspiring.
Today the scales tell me I have lost 2 pounds 🤗🤗🤗🤗 making me 212lbs. This has meant my BMI has also come down by .4!!
I am sooooo happy about that! The girls and I have been doing the couch to 5k program, and also running on the days in between. We're just starting week 4 of that course and feeling super positive!
One of my closest friends (he's more like my brother) had a terrible accident last weekend and it was very touch and go as to whether he would survive. The week has been good for him too, he's survived, after many surgeries, but still obviously has a long way to go. The girls and I are going to visit him in hospital later today, I'm feeling a bit nervous for that, but hopefully I won't just burst into tears when I see him.
Huge congratulations to moreless 5 stone is a massively impressive weight loss, I totally inspired!
Also, good luck Hidden , I'll still be watching out for your posts 😊
Good morning to you! What a fantastic result you've had this week, reducing your weight by 2 whole pounds, and to reducing your BMI by .4 - really great! Glad you're feeling really happy - that's a lovely feeling!
I know you've been through some stress this week, as your close friend had a terrible accident last weekend, and it's good to hear that the outcome has come out so well, and that he's survived and has come through his various surgeries. I can understand your fear that you might burst into tears when you see him later today, but even if that does happen, it is an understandable flood of emotion and hopefully he'll completely understand that you care about him very deeply and you're relieved that he's doing ok.
Sounds like you're really getting into the Couch to 5k programme, and I hope you're enjoying it, with the runs inbetween - really great exercise!
Hope things go well with your visit to your friend this afternoon.
I am so sorry about your friend, thank goodness he is pulling through, it just goes to show how precious life is, doesn't it?
It is great news that you have managed to lose 2lbs in the face of all the stress and well done on all the running. I am about to start week 4 of C25K (tomorrow, blister allowing) too and am terrified, LOL!
Weighed in at 9 stone 7.6 today, which I think is similar to last week, maybe a few ounces more, but my aim was originally 9 st one 7 so happy with maintaining this week, and onwards towards my new goal of 9 stone 4 lbs which I will gradually get to and when I do I am going to reward myself with a new pair of jeans! Onwards (and downwards). Good luck to everyone this coming week.
I've just checked back on your weight last week, and it was exactly the same as it is today, so you've maintained your weight, which is brilliant, as I know you'd had a good loss the week before. A maintain is always celebrated in our books, as it's so much better than a gain.
Great that you've already thought of a motivating reward of your new pair of jeans for when you reach your new goal of 9 stone 4 pounds. That will be really great to have those and enjoy wearing them at your slimmer weight.
Good luck for the week ahead, and wishing you a great week.
Hiya! Today is the start of my weight loss success. i am determined and motivated by all the great posts on the site and being able to weigh in weekly will really help me not to fall off the wagon and in to the biscuit tin at night which is always my undoing. I am 12stone exactly with a BMI of 32, aged 51 and feeling really unfit and would be delighted to lose 2lbs per week. I go on holiday on 12th July and that would mean I could be almost 2stones lighter. Realistically if I have lost over a stone by then I will be delighted that I have made a good start as the older I get the more difficult it seems to be to move the weight. My ultimate goal would be 3stones off but I know slow and steady is the way to go. Thanks for all your help
Great that you've joined us for the Monday group weigh-in. I know you said you would be here, and here you are! Welcome!!! Glad you're already feeling determined and motivated by the great posts on this site, and I hope you'll find the weekly weigh-in will help you not to fall off the wagon. We definitely don't want you to fall into the biscuit tin at night in particular, hopefully that will no longer by your undoing...!
You're on the cusp of the 11's already! So hopefully this time next week we'll be celebrating with you that you'll be in the 10's. How exciting is that????!!! It's great that you've got your holiday to look forward to on 12th July, and there's a few weeks between then and now. You could consider joining in one of the Challenges in the Pinned Posts area - do have a look through to see if any take your fancy. I'm joining in a few of them!
I'd recommend looking at the NHS 12 week plan as a good structure. Let me know if you're not sure where to find it. I think you've seen our Welcome Newbie thread already, but let me know if there's anything you're looking for and can't find, and I'll try to direct you in the right direction!
Have you taken your body measurements? It's just that it can be very motivating to compare changes in those over time, as sometimes the scales don't always reflect what's happening with our body, and it can be motivating to note them especially when the scales stick.
I am so glad you have joined the weight loss thread. I agree about how much harder it is when you are older, but we are wiser and that makes up for it, heh-heh!
Good luck for losing as much as possible in time for your holiday!
A better week overall, even though it was half term and the routine was disturbed. School now back, so routine and peace is now restored.
04th Apr 2016: Weight: 10st 5.5lbs
11th Apr 2016: Weight: 10st 3.25lbs
That's a loss this week of 2.25lbs this week. Yay 😁
So lots of walking for me this week and aiming for at least a 1lb loss by the next weigh in on 18th Apr to bring me once again closer to my next milestone of healthy BMI range.
Hello! Really glad to hear you've had a better week overall. Like you say, your routine and peace is restored again now that school is back. You've done really well to lose 2.25 pounds this week - Congratulations!!!! That must feel really good!
Enjoy all that planned walking - and I hope the sun will shine so you can really enjoy it. Great to hear you're getting close to the healthy BMI range.
I like your lovely smilies - I've reported the general lack of smiley's to the Tech team, so I am hoping they will restore them to those of us who liked doing them the 'old way' - i.e.
Lowcal you are really leaving those 13s behind! Inspiring stuff!
I have just completed my first week back on the wagon - I have found it quite tough. Not as much exercise as I would have liked, but have upped my fruit, veg and water consumption which always helps a bit in keeping hunger at bay.
First week back a great success though - started at 12 st 7lb, finished at 12 st 3 3/4lb - I lost 3 and 1/4 lbs!!
I think i must have put my body into shock or something - I certainly didn't under eat enough to earn that weight loss. I am going to stick with my 1lb a week target for this week - and wont be surprised if I lose nothing - at least I am getting back into the zone and finding my way back to my good habits
Yes, I am hoping the 13's are a 'thing of the past' for me - I really hope so... but I continue to be 'vigilant'...! I know they can sneak up - so I must be careful...!
Congratulations for completing your first week back on the wagon - I can imagine it was tough to get back into it at first, but I hope you'll find it easier as time goes on. Great that you've upped your fruit, veg and water consumption. Ensuring a healthy balance of all essential food groups is really sensible.
Wow, what a great result in your first week - losing 3.25 pounds. Congratulations!!! Usually the initial weight loss includes some water weight, so it is usual to lose a bit more at first (doesn't always follow of course, but it's a common thing to happen), and then your weight should even down and reduce, but hopefully you can aim for an achievable goal each week. Between 1 and 2 pounds per week is often what people choose for healthy sustainable weight loss weekly goals. Your 1 pound per week target is therefore excellent.
Happy Monday, I joined this group last week but i started my weight loss journey a year ago at 19.13, after getting to 16.7 I have gone up and down like a yoyo. I joined this forum at 17.7 and today I am 17.1 so a loss of 6lb this week. I am so chuffed because I have focused on trying to eat what I really wanted and I have felt totally satisfied the entire week. Had a wee craving on Friday night but that was due to tiredness
Happy Monday!!! I like your name, it's very 'upbeat' and 'happy' sounding. I hope you feel like your name suggests, and I suspect you do, as you've described the feeling understandably as feeling 'so chuffed' - wow, what a fantastic result for your first week. I was just saying to walkthisway that people often lose more in their first week - as it does also include water weight, but you have really lost loads - 6 pounds!!! Wow!
I am so glad you've enjoyed your meals and found that you've been totally satisfied. That's a great result. Glad you also identified the reason for your wee craving on Friday night. Tiredness can really impact, and it's good to be aware of that. Hopefully you had some time to relax and unwind a bit over the weekend, and I hope you have a great week ahead.
Your weight loss should reduce to smaller amounts now, but it's the onwards and downwards trend that is important, so keep positive and focused and you should have continued progress.
Wow, that is fantastic and so encouraging to read - well done and I totally agree about the tiredness catching us unawares, that happens to a lot of us. Onwards and downwards as they say!
Hi there, weighing in at 10st 5.5lb which is a loss of 1.3/4lb since last Mon so very pleased as we were on holiday last week and I managed to resist the lovely cheesecakes!! Worth it today though, having a sort out for charity shop as now have some new clothes from Tesco, pretty good when you need a lot of new things. Keep going everyone you will feel so much better x
Hello! Welcome back from your holiday. I enjoyed reading your update post recently, and it's great to be able to Congratulate you on a fantastic loss of 1.75 pounds since last Monday, as that is such a great achievement to lose weight after a holiday - although I know you were doing lots of Dancing, which is fantastic exercise, and that you managed to resist some lovely cheesecakes. That would take great will-power, so all credit to you!
Great to hear you've bought some new clothes and that you're having a sort-out of your old ones. Hope you enjoy wearing all your lovely new clothes, and I bet they fit you really well.
I have Moreless's pompoms and am waving them - you did so well to lose while on holiday and in the face of lovely, lovely (drool, drool) cheesecake! I will need to check out Tesco's clothes, I am looking rather peculiar of late.
Ha ha, look on the reduced rail I got 3 pairs of jeans at £10 a pairafter visiting 4 Tesco extras as the first pair were such a good fit . They were the slim fit not skinny few and far between, but the black trousers with verical zips at hip, slim fit are really nice new season and some nice tops, flowery blue cotton shirts with turned up sleeves all about £15. Just nice to have something which isn't tight and ancient!! have fun x
Hi lowcal well done on your weightloss especially after your lovely meal, last week i was 15st 3lb this week i'm 15st 2lb a loss of 1lb good luck everyone onwards and downwards 😃👍
Thanks I've got 4lb to lose before I've lost 2 stone, I'm hoping to lose it before we go away for 4 day's on the 9th of may it's our 29th anniversary , just a few day's in the caravan at Seton Sands i love it there 😀👍
Good Lunchtime Lowcal and Fab.5,
latest statics of me: 88,3kg this morning and have eaten yeasterday lovely food...
But my Fitnesspal helps to keep going even with caloric outbursts... but weight is now slowing down, just think of the lovely strawberries I had for lunch today again... and yesterday with cream....ooohps
Yes, it's lunchtime, and Happy lunchtime to you! Great to hear you've enjoyed your food yesterday. Glad Myfitnesspal is helping you to keep going with caloric outbursts. You were 89.8kg last week, so this means you've lost 1.5kg this week, which is a substantial loss - Congratulations! I would anticipate your weight loss should begin to level out and reduce now, which is fine.
Strawberries are so delicious, both with and without cream! I have them with Greek yoghurt sometimes too, and they are lovely.
The morning session has been excellent, so many really inspiring posts. Really enjoyed it!
Looking forward to the Afternoon/Evening sessions now.
Have a great day everyone.
Lowcal
I started my first weigh in on the 1st of april at 19st 8.5lbs, then on friday 8th i weighed in at 18st 13.5 today I am 19st. but week 2 will end on friday for me so time to work my weekend off.
I just looked up your result last time you joined our Monday group weigh-in on 4th April, and you didn't disclose your weight then, but you did say you'd already lost 4 pounds since you started your weight loss journey, so I calculate that you would have weighed 19 stone 4.5 pounds on 4th April (I hope this is a correct deduction from the info available) - so you weigh 19 stone today (we take our data Monday to Monday), which means you've lost another 4.5 pounds between last Monday and this one - hence I'd like to congratulate you on losing 4.5 pounds this week! That is brilliant! Really well done.
I hope you're ok with this result for our stats, as we do try to keep the data from Monday to Monday if we can, and I know you're also weighing on Fridays too - so I don't want to confuse you!
The main thing is that you're making excellent progress. Let me know if you think I've made any errors in my calculations, as although I'm doing the Stats now, I would say Maths is not my strong point. But I do try to get it right if I can.
Hope you enjoyed your week and wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
Like you say, you've got plenty of time to work your weekend off! But you're making such great progress anyway!
So today is the start of week 4... can't believe I've finally managed to stick to my calorie controlled diet for 3 weeks. I exercised more this week, overall I'm feeling so much better for losing the extra weight. So I did have a cheat day on the previous Sunday, thankfully I think I burnt it off this week. An odd cheat meal once a week is not bad, it's an incentive to keep your cravings under control, if you're following your diet the rest of the week and of course incorporating some form of exercise into your daily routine. Overall I am happy that I have lost another 2 pounds this week, giving me a total loss of 8 pounds so far over 3 weeks, over half a stone...woohoo!
Week 0: 12 stone
Week 1: 11st 10lbs (4lb loss)
Week 2: 11st 8lbs (2lb loss)
Week 3: 11st 6lbs (2lb loss)
Week 4: Aim to be 11st 4lbs
Short term goal: to get in to the 10's by May
Long term ideal goal: to be around 8st 3lbs by September
Good luck everyone!
Congrats Lowcal for losing 1lb, I'm glad you enjoyed your gym session
@shabbyshuffle My first log-in as I'm a newbie. Starting off at 196lbs and hoping to steadily lose 1lb a week for 20wks. Best of luck to everyone and thanks for welcoming me!
Welcome to the Monday group weigh-in. Great that you decided to join us. You've shared your starting weight, and I hope that felt ok to do so. It's often a daunting step. Great goal to lose 1 pound a week for 20 weeks. Wishing you all the best with your goals. Do have a look at the NHS 12 week plan for some structure and extra support. It's really good!
Wishing you a great first week - you might want to consider taking some body measurements, so you can compare those as time goes on too - sometimes the scales get stuck but the body measurements show changes, and it's not always about the scales.
Sorry I'm late in posting. It shouldn't cause any problems mind, as I stayed the same this week! I need to look back on my food diary and see what's amiss I think....
Great to see you! You've maintained your weight this week, and Congratulations for doing that. I don't think you've done anything amiss (unless of course you find something from your look back at your food diary) - the thing is that last week you'd lost a whole 3 pounds, so essentially over the last 2 week's you've effectively lost an average of 1.5 pounds per week, which is excellent progress.
Maintaining is much better than gaining, and you're on an Onwards and Downwards trend, which is excellent.
I wanted to try and squeeze in before the end of the week! I've been so busy I didn't realise its been like 3 weeks since I've posted!
And I have to make this one a quick one too. Its been manic in work! Last week I weighed in at 12st 9lbs and this week I am down 3lbs to 12st 6lbs!! Its the lightest I've been in a very long time!
I will try my best to post on time this Monday! Hope everyone is having a good week!
Wow, what a great result for you this week - Congratulations on losing 3 pounds and being the lightest you've been in a very long time. I bet you're feeling good!!!
Great to see you today and wishing you another great week ahead.
