Sorry you are struggling.

I think a lot of people use My Fitness Pal or other apps to track what they eat and the calories they consume.

I eat three meals a day, I try to make healthy choices and I try never to eat processed food or fast food. I also try not to eat snacks.

Hi Bron78,

Welcome!  Like Gonti  said, many people are using apps to help them to keep track of their food and drink intake, as well as exercise.

Have a read through of your Welcome Newbie post too:

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Hopefully you'll find that information helpful.  Many of us are following the NHS 12 week plan, and there's a link there in the post to that plan.

Please join in any things you see in the forum that you'd like to be part of, and maybe join the Monday group weigh-in sessions if you like the idea of a weekly weigh-in.

Have a great week.

Lowcal :-)

Hi Bron78.  I am going the other way.  I am planning what I am going to eat each day and then calculating the calories so I know roughly what I should be having.  I am then using the NHS 12 week plan weekly tracker to record the calorie content of anything I have over that.  It is hard going at first as I am having to calculate the calories of everything from scratch but am hoping to have a 2 week, calorie-counted plan over the next couple weeks using the NHS calorie counter and also the portion measurer at lovefoodhatewaste.com.

I am just amending usual family meals but if you are looking for new ideas this is lots of fun:

nhs.uk/Change4Life/Pages/me...

plus it will write a shopping list for you that you can just download!

I definitely encourage writing down everything as it helps one not to over eat.  The trick is fill oneself up with vegg as it is very low in calories. Cut out sugar. Cook very thing yourself from scratch. I am more creative now. I eat tons of fruits and fish and poultry. There are great recipes on this site.

Good luck! This journey is fun!

I have a notebook as no fitness pal , and write everything down and calories .After a week or 2 it will be easier to calculate how many calories you are eating ,I am a veggie so eat lots of veg and use low fat greek yoghurt or oatcakes instead of bread as part of lunch , cut out sugar too
