Saw a consultant last Thursday because I have a Hernia. I have a BMI of 43 which is too much for safe surgery. He told me to lose up to 35kg in 3 months when he will see me again. I am 65 nearly with a painful knee joint which limits an exercise regime. Any suggestions as to how I can achieve this upward battle.

Have a look at the newbie pack ,it's full of good info to get you started😃

35 kg is a lot to have to lose in 3 months. If the consultant didn't give you any advice on diet, I wonder if your doctor or a dietician could help?
You could look at the NHS 12 week plan to see if that looks suitable for you, but it usually results in a fairly slow weight loss.
Any loss will depend on what you eat as well as how much you eat. You could try sticking to just eating lots of different vegetables and good quality protein, but cutting out all processed foods, like bread, pasta, cereals, and anything with sugar in it.
I do think that you should be getting some professional help/ monitoring for such an extreme weight loss. Good luck with losing the weight and the operation.
