Portion size is key!

Hey everyone, so I am currently on day 4 of my 12 week plan, and I've got to say... I'm LOVING it!

I feel so in control, I feel like I have more energy and I'm aware about what I'm eating and how much - without feeling hungry!

So I have downloaded a free app on my phone called "my fitness pal" and I really think that this is my saviour and my support for weight loss!

I can search, or scan bar-codes of everything that I eat or plan on eating, and the calories and nutritional information comes up. It adjusts to how many g's or ml's that you select.

I am finding this sooo useful. I have a set of kitchen scales that are now permanently on the counter, so If I fancy something to eat, I can scan it or enter it into the search bar on the app, find out how many calories it is (for example, 100g), weight it, and away I go!

You can enter these foods into a food diary that is on the app, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. You set your goal weight, and how many weeks/months you'd like to reach it in, and it works out how many calories per day you need in order to reach that goal. You can also document weights, measurements, exercise and even photos to the personal diary... and its all free! It's a dream come true!

I hope this helps anyone who is struggling/who has not heard of this incredible, easy app - and I apologise to those who have heard it a million times! I just wanted to share it and help :)

Hi Olive165,

Hi! I am so pleased to hear you're enjoying your week so far, and you are sounding really positive and happy. I now know what you ate this evening, and it sounded really tasty - thanks for commenting on my meal too, that was lovely of you to pop by and comment.

I also really like the app Myfitnesspal, it's really useful and makes things so easy.

Have you seen our Welcome Newbie thread yet? Moreless (a lovely member of the forum put it together) and it contains quite a lot of useful information, and also highlights many of the things that are going on in the forum.

Here's a link to it, incase you haven't seen it and would like to take a look:

Hope you enjoy the rest of the week and the weekend too - it's nearly here!

Liking MFP too, useful as incentive to know how many calories are being burnt off for exercise, and my favourite, for calculating calories in my own recipes 😊

I'm on week 2 olive165 and like you I amloving it!!! It is so easy and at first I thought am I doing it right??? But almost 4 lbs off in my first week I must have. It's not a diet it's a training programme to eating healthier for life and that's what I love about it. It sounds like you are doing great. Keep it going 😀
