Yay! 4 days and not a drop!! This must be the most number of dry days in a week in a very long time! More than half way to a week of abstinence!
How are you doing with the cider Ruth? Hope it is all going to plan. ☺

Oh wow fantastic! You are doing great!
Well done I am sure it will get easier and before you know it the week will be over and you can look back and be proud!
I'm waving the pom poms again!
Keepgoing you are doing well
I had a sneaky cider this eve but importantly no wine has passed the threshold into my flat. 1 or 2 units of cider is far better as always than the inevitable 4 or 5 once a bottle of wine is opened. Maybe what I'm doing is a "semi-dry" January, sort of damp instead of sloshing around Very much in awe of your 4 dry days. Are you feeling the difference? Feeling fresher in the morning?
Well done on sticking to your plan! You too are doing a great job! You are staying away from the wine and sticking with a low intake of cider...Good work!
As a matter of fact the first 3 mornings,I cannot lie,I had a real headache. But not today! So maybe the positives will start doing in. my skin must surley improve with no alcohol and gallons of water?!
Keep going!
Sorry to hear you had a headache - hope it stays away now. Yes there are definitely benefits to drinking lots of water and less alcohol, hope you'll see some of them soon! I succeeded in keeping my alcohol really low while I was doing the 12 week plan. I was so focused that my units were 6 or less every week. It's only since I reached my goal weight that a few of the old bad habits have tried to sneak their way back in. So I know what the benefits can be, just need to remain disciplined By the way no alcohol at all for me yesterday. Wondering if I might perhaps introduce 3 dry days a week as part of keeping the intake low Good luck Asics!
Great work! I too managed a dry Friday with a lovely bottle of fizzy water drunk from my champagne flute!
You could always build up to 3. One this week, 2 next etc.
They do say you should try to have some dry days every week to let your liver recover.
Eventually, after a good dry spell, am thinking I will aim for 5 dry a week and minimise my in take to say 3 units on each if the two drink days. We will see.
Keep going and well done for having a dry Friday! 😊
It feels so bad to have to say I'm aiming to have 1 day a week where I don't drink alcohol! Makes me sound like a complete lush! But if the other 6 are only 1-2 units each time then it's not so bad - or so I tell myself... So maybe yes I'll start like that. This week so far it's 1 day, maybe it'll be 2 if I have another day off either today/tomorrow. And then I'll aim to build up to 3 days off
Fizzy water in a champagne flute sounds great. Nice tonic water with a slice of lime is a good non-alcoholic drink too - it looks and pretty much tastes the same as a G&T
Doing good asics, you sound so positive and enthused😃
😇
Thank you! I am just so pleased to be sticking with it! 😊
Well done you all especially asics and Ruth canal runner. Both my husband and me are doing Dry January as we were concerned with our health and our pocket !! We have now done 15 days and into 16. Never felt better and after the first week the habit of opening a bottle has lessened. Still have to be aware. But the benefits - especially not "losing" the next day are fantastic. Also, I have to say we really do both feel better and look better. Also steady weight loss. So ALL GOOD. Looking forward to Dry February too.
Well done littleduck! You are walking ahead of me holding the dry banner with pride! I am following in your fantastic footsteps. 😊
What a great feeling to have achieved 15 days and also feel so good!
I have managed 6 now including a Friday (always a glass on the sofa night ) and a Saturday dinner at the pub. Am thinking to myself...' nice work! '!!
My goal is to finish Jan (I hadn't planned to be dry at all for Jan. I usually rebel against the norm on this one and carry on Christmas drinking levels into Feb! ) so dry for rest of Jan then it's one day at a time for me. Keep me updated in how you are doing! X
Wow Asics - what a lovely reply, thank you.
Yep now on day 17. I think it is easier because we are both doing it. We are also on a mission to lose weight and the calories in wine don't bear thinking about !!!!!!! Love you say you love to rebel - well, isn't NOT drinking being a bit of a rebel. We are in great company - just google dry alcoholics - you will be up with some great names - Eric Clapton for one. One day at a time if you are struggling a bit. Must say, after 10 days the habit lessens. Keep strong. Keep up with the rebellion!
