I am really pleased with this weeks results. I have lost 3 lbs
This week I have been concentrating on combining strength exercises with cardio and it appears to have worked. It's a very tiring routine and one which makes you sweat a lot, but the results have been worth it. I knew I had to change things up this week to get the results I wanted. Also done my measurements this week and they have also gone down by 7 inches 5 of which have come off my legs so I am well chuffed to see these results with the tape measure today.
Strength training is a very important part of any routine and there was a time I used to just do cardio and when I got round to strength training I could really feel it and I found it hard and became breathless. It was interesting to see the difference between the two. Well it has certainly paid off.
To date I have lost 82 lbs in 46 weeks and I have proven to myself that it can be done with good planning hard work and self belief. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself and don't ever give up on you
Have a great weekend and good luck to everyone weighing in this week

Thank you for this post Trafford....you're the proof that this is possible...determination and commitment! Well done you. šššššššš
Thank you PP, after all this time I am still enjoying this wonderful and interesting journey and will keep on keeping on till I reach my goal on Jan 4th Have a great week hun x
Yes!! moreless, I did it. Only 2 lbs off 6 stone and I can't wait. This number is my new focus for this week and I really hope to achieve this at my next weight in. I am going to continue with the combo of strength and cardio as it feels good to get a good sweat on and it has really helped me to achieve the lost inches as the week before I hadn't lost all these inches.
Thank you moreless and good luck getting into your strength training this coming week, it will all be worth it
Another great result Trafford I'm glad you managed to get unstuck - think I've managed too and should be reporting a loss next week
A fab result too on the tape measure - you gonna look fab this xmas - when did you start your journey? I don't have enough fingers to work out the weeks
Thank you sueper, I began my journey Jan 4th 2015 and have given myself one year to get back to the weight I once was. I remember being happier back then and took it all for granted. When my size increased I just accepted it for what ever reason until one day it had all spiralled out of control and I found myself sad and unhappy. On Jan 4th this year I took a good look into the mirror and spoke to myself and told myself that I am worth it and that I can do this and to keep going no matter what, so I did and haven't looked back since. I just look to the future now and know that I am capable of anything I put my mind to as I am in control of it now and it sometimes tries to control me but I put it right back to where it needs to be.
I need to work out how many lbs I have until I reach my Christmas target I started with a goal to lose 17 lbs so will have to look back now and calculate all what I have lost since your post.
It's great that you have managed to get unstuck BIG CHEER woohooo.... you deserve it hun and I look forward to your post reporting some good news.
Hi Trafford. You have done amazingly this year - I was curious as I wanted to know if you started before or after xmas last year. So this year you will be celebrating xmas about 6 stone lighter - what will you wear??!!
I am a little behind you, I first weighed 14th Feb 2015 and have lost just over 60lb so between us we have lost a healthy size person!
I'm not sure about you but I always felt I'd get around to losing weight it just took me many many years and in that time weight just kept piling on. My journey was a bit slower and organic than yours as I did kind of start thinking about things in the new year but took about 6 weeks to get my head sorted but I started making changes in the meantime. My first walk was 14/1 and it took me 20 mins to walk 1 km and I was shattered and sweaty.
I am so chuffed for both of us that we have come so far and it's nice to have people here like you and Ros1 who have made such massive and successful changes.
Hi sueper, without a shadow of doubt I will be six st lighter this Christmas and I looked back at the Christmas challenge to see where I am up to and found I only have 5 lbs to go till I hit my 17 lb target which I am well focus on getting to now. We have a total of 5 weeks till xmas now so that's only a lb a week although I will be aiming for more. Breaking into the 10's by this time will just fill me with joy.
Not sure what I will be wearing at Christmas, my mum did buy me a really nice top for my birthday which just passed which is suitable and I can wear my tight black trousers and some heals which I think will look nice, I'm quite a simple girl when it comes clothes not a sparkly girl although the wedding dress I am going to choose does need to have some wow factor.
My very first walk was 30 minutes and even that took it out of me. Now I can run a 10 k non stop and you have walked a 10 km from your first walk of 1 km so it goes to show that small changes can really make a big difference. We are doing so well on our journeys and it has been a great and wonderful experience.
By gum we are amazing people aren't we!! it's always been in us we just had to find it and this year it's been found.
Congratulations on all of your achievements sueper and looking forward to reaching that xmas goal of 5 lbs
I have about 10lb to hit my xmas goal - I'll give it a good try!
Tell me about this wedding dress?! Is this new news (I probably missed it)? When is the big day and what type of thing do you fancy?
I'm a rock chick really but not so easy at a size 30. I've just bought some super skinny acid wash black jeans which I think look ok but very tight so I feel a bit weird wearing them.
I wore black and red when I got married 10 years ago - a red corset and black skirt.
It's not new news I posted this in Oct when we booked it we get married in Feb 2016 and it was just a spur of the moment thing. My partner and I have been together for 24 yrs so it's been a long time awaited. I am undecided on the dress yet, but what I have been looking at is a short dress tight dress one which shows me off as many people coming won't have seen me since I have lost the weight and that's what I can't wait for. There jaws will drop
We are very simple individuals so this wedding will be to fit our very simple lifestyles. No extravagant wedding just nice and simple
Rock chick ay wow my sister in law is a rock chick she likes all the skulls, red, black and pinks and has the piercing to go with it. I'm sure you rock when you wear your skinny jeans and as they are skinny jeans they are supposed to look tight hun, it may just take some getting used to as us larger people are not used to a life in skinny pants. It took me some getting used to wearing skinny pants and now this is all I wear I can't imagine ever wearing a standard pair of trousers ever again as I don't like em LOL.
Best of luck to both of us on our Christmas goal and if we keep focused and plan, plan, plan I am sure we can achieve it or close to it. Even if we don't we won't have failed because we will have tried
I love the fact you plan to shock your guests with your new bod! I'm sure you will be stunning and a simple short dress sounds perfect. Maybe you'll treat us to a photo - the perfect before & after opportunity
Thank you for such an inspiring post, trafford1. I have just started my journey 7 weeks ago, but your posts makes me more determined to keep going!! So inspirational!šŖš¼š
Hi Podgybear and thank you so much. I hope you are enjoying your journey 7 weeks in. I remember when I was on my 12 week journey and what a journey it was..I pushed and pushed and planned and planned every single day and it was just such a motivational time most a lot of my weight came off during those 12 wks and by the end I had lost 35 lbs because I believed in me and became stronger both mentally and physically and it changed my life for the better. I hope you feel the same on your 12 wk journey and being here with this wonderful community
Fantastic Trafford1, what an amazing result and what a great year you have had. I always to your Saturday post to inspire me and keep me honest over the weekend in time for my own weigh in on Monday.
Well done on the strength training. I hope you are planning to post a photo of you wearing your lovely wedding dress bench while bench pressing your husband!š
Thank you hun I am having a great year and it's been one which is full of surprises. To be honest this year I have done things I never imagined I would ever do. Skating, skateboarding, running a 5, 6, 7, 8 and even 10 k, cycling, rowing....the list is endless just need to get into a swimming baths now and my list of things to do will be completed. This journey has been great and rewarding and I love that I have the support of people like you in this community spurring me on it's fantastic.
I will post a pick. I have tried before, with the before and after but it won't post so I have left it now. I have lost more weight since then anyway.
Thank you again Gonti and good luck for Mondays weigh in hun x
Congrats Trafford1 when you say you pushed hard this week I know you did push really hard. Love it that this 3lb loss has given you the confidence to know you'll be in the 10s by Xmas. When I got close to goal I upped the efforts to make sure I didn't get stuck slightly before I reached my final goal weight. I'm sure you've got the same determination plus some. Also I really believe the strength exercises stopped me getting too much loose skin etc, although my loss was a third of what you've achieved! So I really admire the amount of Strength you're doing, and really hope you'll reap the rewards, not only weight-wise but with achieving an incredibly fit body. Keep going, hope you have another great week. Like Gonti, I also always look fwd to your Saturday posts, so inspiring. Wish you all the best for another excellent week
Oh yes I pushed the boat out this week with combining strength and cardio together omg it was tough, but worth it. Now with only 2 lbs to go till I lose 6 st and only 5 lbs till I get into the 10's I feel driven and in control. Got to plan it this week to the letter T if I am going to reach these two goals, might even cry when I see myself in the 10's by or even before xmas. It's such an amazing feeling to have come this far with you all. I feel like a completely new person in such a good way and one who can live her life feeling like I fit in Being on this journey has tout me to appreciate who I am and value who I am and love myself and I couldn't have done it without such a lovely bunch of people like you Ruth who give me your support week after week and I am so grateful for it hun
These last weeks seem to be flying by. Only 6 weeks to go now till I reach 52 weeks so let's see what I can achieve in that time.
You are fabulous, have caught up on all your posts and you just continue to inspire all of us no matter where we are in this journey.
You will make a beautiful bride and do need a wow dress, just try on loads and go with what makes you feel good. Some of your guests are in for a shock eh !! I love watching say yes to the dress( brain dead tv I know but I love it lol) and sometimes threaten Mr F that I might marry him again just to have a wow dress myself lol.
I am going back to circuit class tomorrow and promise faithfully to restart my squats and planks but gently build back up to where I was.
aww thank you flossie, it's been a good week all round and with all those inches lost on top of the weight loss is really good progress. I can see it more and more. I didn't think it would be hard to pick out a dress, but it turns out it's harder than I thought I know it will be short as I don't like the long dress which drapes onto the floor and I know it will be fitted around my waist as I want to show that part off and then a little flare on the bottom, but something simple. I have been watching don't tell the bride and that's quite funny especially when she goes and looks at the dress and don't like it...the dress is important so I hope I get it right.
Enjoy the circuit classes tomorrow and continue with the squats and planks (I hate planks) it's good that you are going to gently build back up to where you was after recent events and before long you'll be right back in the swing of things hun x
Thank you for all your support and hope your sister is still doing well x
You are truly rocking this healthy living hunny. š
Thank you SellieL, I am loving the journey and the healthy living and wouldn't ever go back to how I used to eat and even through the winter months I'm still going for it so I'm happy all round
I just keep coming back to this thread because it's so inspiring! You are a true wonder and as many have said, an inspiration.
From time to time, I question myself "is it all worth it", I read this thread and say, YES IT BL$$DY WELL IS!!
Thank you Tewson, it's very nice of you to say such wonderful things about my post and I am glad I have inspired you. Sometimes that is all it takes to keep people motivated on their journey, just knowing that it can be done through hard work, commitment and some good planning, it's definitely all worth it
Your journey to slimness is very inspiring and it is wonderful to read about your fitness success too.
May I ask you about your fitness journey?
I have to roughly halve my body weight to be in a healthy range, so as you can imagine I am currently carrying too much! I am exercising and gradually getting fitter, but still have a way to go before I can declare myself a gym bunny officially.
What I want to know is, how soon did you start running and did your weight cause any problems at all? I know you are younger than I am, so I probably won't be able to copy you exactly, but I kind of would like some guideline/goal to aim for.
My journey began with simply walking 30 mins everyday in the first week then 40 mins everyday in the 2nd wk and 50 mins in the 3rd week after this I decided to begin running, but running was so hard and just 1 minute of running would take it out of me so I continued to do just what I could and walked in between, the majority was just walking. By week six I was running more and more, but it wasn't without a lot of pain to my knees which I ended up taking pain killers for. Now what happen to me was when I was running I didn't feel the pain but when I was just going about my everyday life they would really be in pain. So I did what I could but made sure I did a lot of other things to so joined the gym where I used the cross trainer and this really took the pressure off my knees and I would walk on an incline using the treadmill. So gradually I have built up my fitness, but will always aim to do more than the week before and set a new goal to achieve. Not one week has been the same as I like to change things up and this way I don't get stuck on the scales. I have consistently lost weight from day one and only gained 2 lb during the 46 weeks which was when I celebrated my birthday so I know that it really does work to change things up and to push yourself week after week.
With regards to the weight it was an issue to start with as I was 17 st 2 lbs and carrying all that weight certainly put some added strain on my joints, but nothing was going to stop me achieving my goal because I believed in myself and have never given up on my dream
Thank you very much for the reply, that is such useful information and I will follow that plan. I will continue with the walking and increase gradually and then introduce some running intervals when I feel my body can cope with it (no way at the moment). I do get a lot of aches and pains in my joints and want to avoid being laid up entirely.
I also like your idea of constantly changing things up - I will do that as well.
If you want an incentive to get you on track with your exercise regime, how about joining Lizzie's kicking the kilometres to dust thread.
You don't need to be a gym bunny, just perform some sort of exercise that can be counted in kilometres eg walking, running, cycling, swimming and these can include exercise machines eg cross trainers and rowers
I have been watching that thread and wondering how to convert my exercise into kms so I can join in, currently I am just counting my minutes. I may ask Santa for a Fitbit or something!
I walk a little, workout on the cross-trainer and the recumbent cycle, but really only just getting to be able to do anything above 10 mins without dying!
Hey that's perfect and very similar to what I'm doing. I've drawn myself a chart for my exercise bike and have measured the size of the wheel, I know that each time I press the right pedal, I'm moving x number of centimetres. I get on the bike and count in hundreds, and mark it off on my chart, I do 1,000 in approx. 5/10 mins (you do whatever you feel comfortable with)
With your cross trainer, count the number of steps you take and Lizzie will convert it into K's.
The recumbent bike is great and use this when I go to the gym and the cross trainer. What you need to do LotToLose is you say right now you can't do anything above 10 mins well what you need to do is set yourself a goal this week if possible and pass those 10 mins go for 11 mins next time your on it because this will change you for ever. It's all about breaking down this wall that the mind has set us and you telling yourself that I can do this and just go for it. It's such an amazing feeling once you pass that wall and you'll never look back once you do and this is what I mean by changing things up week after week. Go that extra 1 min or 2 mins until it's 15 mins and so on....It has worked for me and it can work for you Please give it a go
me to, I was dying on the cross trainer after just 2 mins, but to save face I pushed all the way to five whole mins and then died LOL, I got off it casually and onto the next machine like it was easy peasy NOT!!!!
if you have an android phone you can download an app named 'fit' it's great when your out and about it tracks you km's for you by the end of the day and counts your calories. No need for a Fitbit when you can have it on your phone in your pocket
