Today I have run my first ever 10 k and I am so proud of myself for achieving this goal before the new year.
It's my mums birthday today and she has made it to her 65 th birthday which we didn't think she would see as doctors told her in May that she only had two months. She has cancer and whilst she still has days where she struggles and is in pain she still continues her fight for survival. She is so strong and I want to be just as strong as her so today to mark her 65 th birthday I ran my own race for life just for her.
I truly love my mum she is such a great and wonderful woman, so this was for her and it will be a day I will always remember.
We all have something/someone that motivates us and what I have witnessed over these past months gives me the strength, makes me more determined and gives me that extra motivation to carry on my fight to regain my life, health and happiness back.
Have a lovely week everyone and stay focused on your goals

Thank you dawncoates34, will treasure every minute and so happy I have run this for her and a personal achievement for myself. It was hard, but great and now I know I can do it
Thank you moreless, it's been lovely spending her birthday with her today and I am so happy she has reached her 65 th and she has beat the odds. My focus today was on my mum and completing this run for her. I can't believe I did it, but I did 10 k Yeah !!!
Well done you - I was just about to show off that I've walked 10km
It sounds like your mum quite a woman. A friend of mines mum was diagnosed year ago and only given months to live and I think she lived another 7 or so years! She very much got into healthy eating and it seemed to work for her.
Maybe next year I will have run 10 km too - I doubt it but never say never.
Hi sueper, thank you a 10 k walk is just as good as a 10 k run so well done you and you deserve to show off sueper I have walked 5 k and know it no easy feet so walking a 10 k is great too.
My mum is terminal so not long to go, but I am enjoying every bit of time I have with her. My mum makes me stronger every day and I ran this today thinking of her fight and the strength she has shown me through out her journey and I am so happy that I have achieved this today for her
She has had a lovely day today and even got a new wig which she loves
Have a great week sueper and thank you for your support hun

The run today marks a new beginning on my journey and shows me just what I am capable of doing. I ran this for my mum today and this was a personal race for life for mum and the way I looked at it was if she can fight I can to, as hard as it was, I did it and I am so proud and I told mum I ran it for her today and she is so proud of me too
I am thankful for every day we have together and she is so wonderful and so proud of me and I am just as proud of her
Treasure her, I lost my Mum over 20 years ago and miss her every day xx

This is so amazing Trafford1, I feel privileged just to know what you've achieved and what it means to you. So blown away by your determination, you're an absolute star! 10k, just like that! Wow x
I decided this was going to be the day as it is such an important day in my life and what better way to celebrate my mums birthday than to run this just for her and to prove to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to. If I believe I can then I will and it happened. It was extremely, hard I must say but I never give up the race for life
Dear lovely Trafford...celebrating and honouring your mum with this determination and commitment is such a testimony to you ...well done you!....your mum must be so proud of you.
Hi Portlandprincess thank you hun what better way to celebrate her birthday and I have some lovely pictures I will treasure forever. The run was worth every ache I am feeling today, every bit of sweat and every oz of my energy. She is so proud of me and I am of her
Hi Chubbymummy, thank you. This is my biggest achievement so far on this journey and what better way to celebrate her big day than to run this for her.
Hi Trafford1, what a truly inspirational post as always. Delighted to hear of your personal race, really sorry but I'm struggling a little to find the right words here. Your mum must be a very strong and determined lady and you will have made her incredibly proud. It must have been a very special birthday present for your mum to see your achievements and know that you have taken control of your own life and become a much healthier and happier person. Keep going Trafford1 you are amazing.
Good morning mrsg3 and thank you so very much for all your kind words, it was very hard but I never stopped thinking of my mum when I was running and to do this just for her on her special day knowing what she is going through made me even more determined to do this. I was going to wait until the new yr, but this day was the day I felt it was the right time and I will never forget it. My mum is so proud and to see me on this journey and how I have progressed over the months knowing I am becoming a healthier happier daughter that's all she could ask for. I won this race for her and our journeys continue together...
Wishing you many, many wonderful days with your Mum chick. Congratulations on the 10k. You are amazingly strong in a different way to your Mum and just as special. Your love is plain to read. π
