High BP

Many thanks for all your suggestions, GP wasn't much help, hoping weight loss will help, it had come down slightly but have to go back in 2 weeks time to check again, think this is all government guide lines now, as with most things they move the goal posts.

Seem to remember when on the Atkins diet, high protein low carb, my BP was fine that was 4 years ago, so that theory does work. Thanks for your support,

From my own experience the first advice from GP's when it comes to Blood Pressure is lose weight (if relevant) and of course being healthy weight is going to benefit in the long term but it takes time, however, often you can lower your blood pressure quite quickly by making drastic changes to diet, just like smoking and drinking, blood pressure if effected in, if you like, real time by what we eat.

If you read my profile Dody18 you'll see I had very high blood pressure and it this was one of the main driving factors that made me start a weight loss journey, because of the amount of weight I needed to lose and the severity of my symptoms (High Blood Pressure, Obesity etc etc...) the changes to the types of food I ate were colossal in comparison to the foods I had been eating. I saw a real drop in BP within days and it was back to within safe limits after just a couple of weeks if memory serves me correctly, yet I was still morbidly obese.

Obviously there will be exceptions to the rule but to anyone reading this that perhaps has very high blood pressure it's worth thinking about. Remember High BP although it may not have any symptoms is very dangerous.

I'm 11-4 and 5-2 height although not classed as obese YET, I need to lose. Couple of stone, I don't smoke or drink, UK pensions don't allow for that, having had a knee replacement, plus a blood clot on the lung as a result of surgery, mobility was restricted. However I am back to driving and walking the dog, ( not at the same time) and trying slim fast to help with weight loss, see how it goes, another check on BP in 2 weeks. Thanks for your advice, you have done so well.
