There was another user on here who drives all day too, I think it was johngail. He talked about how he was stocking up on lots of fresh veg and kept them in the car to snack on during the day. I suggest looking at the supermarkets that some service stations have, or popping into places like M&S, Waitrose, Tesco etc when you're in towns, and looking at the salads which will be near the sandwiches section. M&S do some great salads. Also just look for bags full of ready chopped carrots and tubs of hummous dip etc. Good luck
Thanks. Sounds cool
If you travel by car then you can take a cool box with food prepped at home plus snacks such as good cheese, hard boiled gags. With hotel kettle you can make miso soup, cous cous and decent tea or coffee. Carry a thermos. Look for cafes and restaurants that name check the slow food movement.
To keep active it depends on what you like to do: you can pay as you go in the council gyms and a lot of the private gyms let you in for about a fiver a time use "find a gym" as the search term. Otherwise interval swimming is good for small hotel pools. walk- run is possible anywhere or travel with elastic fitness band.
Hope this helps. My business travel days are over. It is very tough.
Thanks for the advise.. Finding it difficult to find good food I'm away from home for upto 2 weeks find it hard to motivate myself to go for a walk.. Cant run yet but hopefully this will come on time. I no longer wish to be like this. That will be my motivation
Those trips can be exhausting, isolating and depressing. I really sympathise.
I checked your profile and you should have had NHS advice about appropriate food with suggestions tailored to the life you lead.
My elder sister had the same operation; afterwards she was always ordering soup when we went out, she developed a taste for milky drinks, and I made lentils for her a lot. also try yogurts and fresh fruits.
Have you looked at the NHS live well site. Some of the exercise routines take five mins and can be done in a hotel room. That's what got me started on adopting a much healthier lifestyle
Keep trying
Wayner
I can't run at all due to a previous achilies injury but cycling fits the bill for me and results in the scenery changing so much quicker. Have you thought about giving that a try?

If you're eating out try NANDOS. Sounds strange but they do have some healthy and quite tasty salads.
I know the problem Wayner - sounds so glamorous to be living in hotels but its hard work. And you have the driving to contend with as well. People have already given you some great responses (and got me remotivated as well) and I would only offer two additional tips - take the stairs whenever you can, and push yourself to take the walk. I always find that after 2 or 3 minutes I'm glad that I have done so, and feel much better! And hide those little packets of biscuits that they put with the kettle as soon as you get in the room!
Hotel life can be hard, but it also gives us great insights into different people and places.
Good luck!
Thank you so much for your post those biscuits are nice.... Lol..but this has been getting me down for a and this has given so much support that I actually feel I can do this. It's going to be hard but I'm going to do it this time.. Thanks again
