Hiya, look at the sugar on everything make small changes such as swap fruit yogurt for low fat plain yogurt, go for low fat sauces not low low as they contain more sugar but less fat surprisingly!! I try not to go over the 5g mark per portion, it's refined sugar you need to cut out natural sugars are fine in moderation so if you know you have only had natural sugars from fruits that day then I wouldn't stress about it too much, hope this helps 😀

It's the fruit its high in sugar content there is a debate at the moment whether consuming the 5 a day is contributing to the obesity problem....someone posted a lecture the other day on this subject (it was really interesting and worth listening to) I still believe natural food inc sugar in fruit is good for you as I think our bodies break this down differently to processed sugar......anyway I will let you make your mind up 😊

Perhaps stick with the veg but keep the fruit as an occasional treat.

It's unfortunate that on packaging they don't break down naturally occurring sugar and added sugar, once you get in the swing of it you will understand it a bit more, have a read up about it,you can have 90 gms of sugar a day but only 30 gms should be from added sugar. Even milk has naturally occurring sugar.

Found this really helpful Angela, thank you.....I get to about 70 with just naturally occurring sugars.....

Really interesting post.....I'm eating so healthily and I too are going into the red with the fitness pal....my plan is to ignor it as none of the sugars are from processed foods...Angelas post has reassured me. thanks again for posting!😃

Its a good point and find it kind of frustrating myself - as well as with sodium but I must admit I do not watch that very carefully.

Its interesting to note that a small orange (100 gms) and 100 mls of coke have the same amount of sugar. I won't spark a whole debate like last time I bought it up I am only mentioning it because not all fruit is equal when it comes to sugar.

This link lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/w... lists common fruits that are lower in sugar like strawberries and apples as opposed to high sugar fruits like grapes and oranges.
