A little over optimistic..

My broken toe is getting the better of me and I have not managed to walk as much as I had wanted too. The swelling has now gone down and I seem to be feeling it more now, it has been quite sore. I did go to the gym today and am going again in the morning with the relative I am staying with, just done the rower as I keep my feet flat in the foot stirrup without pressure on the toes. I am doing my squats too so feel as though I am achieving at least part of what I set out to do this month.

Food ways, being away means I am not counting calories but I am being careful. Breakfast of mushrooms and eggs, lunch was a chicken salad without dressing yesterday and a ham sandwich with a couple of tomatoes today, dinner was shepherds pie with lots of veggies yesterday and vegetable noodle stirfry today. I had a glass of merlot last night then sparkling water for the rest of the evening and tonight I had a glass of sauvignon blanc then tea for rest of evening.

The thing I am truly proud of though is facing my food nemesis and winning!! Last night saw a table loaded with nibbles and an ENORMOUS bowl of crisps in the middle. They looked so tasty, but I resisted TOTALLY. The nibbles were easy to ignore but those crisps, Lordy that took some effort I can tell you. I knew if I ate one then I would just have kept on eating them. I was relieved to see the bowl finally emptied by hands and mouths other than mine!!

Tomorrow it will be the gym at around 8am, breakfast is to be a 'pick n mix', which means crusty bread and toast, with cooked meats, eggs, cheeses, tomatoes and lots of other things, eek. I am hoping to be sparing with what is on offer. I won't bother with lunch as dinner is to be mexican. No wine ( luckily) as I am driving back home tomorrow night.

I have had a lovely couple of days and hope for the same tomorrow, even bought a load of presents for christmas!!!! I will be happy to get home and back to my calorie counting though - gosh, ' happy' and 'calorie counting' in the same sentence, lol.

Hope everyone else has had a lovely week 😉

Well done you. Great resolve with the crisps!

Injuries put paid to so much and I admire you for still going and working out what is still doable.

You could also Google srm chair exercises and see if there is some upper body strength stuff you could do for now.

You are making great choices

What a fantastic post.

You sound so in control and like you are enjoying deciding how much GOOD you are doing your body instead of bad.

"I knew if I ate one then I would just have kept on eating them"

I am right there with you - congratulations. Just one chip for me and I can say goodbye to the rest of the day!

Thats a bugger about your toe - I was wondering whether it would start hurting more as it began to heal. Try to be kind to it for a little while - it has a lot of miles in front of it me thinks ;)

Enjoy!

Hi ShellieL, ouch!! you poor thing breaking your toe...

May I congratulate you on your courage and commitment to continue and not take things easy after breaking your toe, well done hun :-)

It sounds like you are having a wonderful time away which is brilliant and well done for not giving into those crisps. Crisps are my achilles heel too so I know exactly how you must have felt looking at that table :-)

You are doing a fantastic job and keep up the good work ShellieL

Have a wonderful weekend

Glad swelling on foot going down and you are able to exercise a bit. Helps keep the momentum going.

Sounds like you are doing great with food and still enjoying the food. As for the crisp affair unfortunately my nemesis is bbq hoola hoops, I cannot but a multi pack of these and have one a day as the are soooooo....... delish. I don't know whether it is all the salt but they really start me off on the road to ruin.

Sounds like you have had a great time and enjoyed yourself. As for Christmas presents nooooooo............ it has reminded me I need to start looking for my hoard.

Have a great weekend.

You star for ignoring the crisps...my nemesis too. One and I'm hooked! And you're so brave keeping committed with your broken toe. Did any personal trainers give you any top tips?

And as for Christmas presents.....what are you like?😉

Well done, ShellieL - party food is many a person's downfall. So easy to sneak up for fourths, fifths, sixths etc., but you didn't. (I actually binned a whole bag of Prawn Crackers - a first-ever event under these eaves, I can tell you.) It can and will be done. Here's to leaner times! :D

Hi Shellie,

Fab post, you sound in a really good place.

Just bide your time and once toe is fixed go for it !!

Sounds like been a busy bee shopping for Santa already I am impressed.

Enjoy your time and have a great week.

😇
