new smaller plate
Hi Gothchick,
Great idea to get a smaller plate - portion sizes are definitely key. Good that you're thinking of the psychology - every strategy helps!
Good to be prepared.
Enjoy the weekend.

I am in no doubt the smaller plate is a brilliant idea. A while back I gifted all my large plates and picked up an eclectic mix of old blue and white china from charity shops. The sort of size plates I grew up with. Tea plates = smaller sandwiches and dinner plates = smaller dinners. The biggest downsize though is to be found with the dessert/cereal bowl - use this and portion size will be spot on. The only big greedy bowl/dish I use is for soup and sometimes pasta, even that is deceiving since it is deep without the huge circumference of a conventional pasta bowl. So, if you like charity/junk shops go bag yourself a special set of dishes from the olden days!
I draw the line at vintage tea cups though - still has to be a mug for teas!
You also need smaller cereal bowls, smaller wine glasses, smaller saucepans. It all helps!
I agree with lowcal and Ruth hun, will add that the vintage china is also very pretty and feeds the eyes as well before the food feeds the tummy. Charity shops are brilliant place to search for some bits n pieces, and your helping a good cause too. ☺️
Thats EXACTLY the kind of thinking that comes from someone who is serious about getting healthy - good on you. I am impressed.
Although to make it even more beneficial maybe you could get a smaller table as well so it looks normal size and fools you even more?
See?
That's why people say I am clever - I am an innovator.
An excellent idea. Good luck
I'm amazed how much we can eat on 1400. Cals. Make sure the plates not too small! Not meaning to be flippant but I remember that if you like to see lots of food, fill the plate with very low cal veg or salad....by the way, I'm on my first week and obese so perhaps you shouldn't listen to me!
Hi Gothchic I found a portion divider plate to be very useful, forces me keep an eye on carbs and increase veg intake. amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00...
