Been a while since I've been on here due to church commitments and my boyfriend has had several problems with his diabetes and hypo's so not a lot of time but things are better but as for my weight oh my lord.....😧
In the last 3 months my weight has gone up 7ibs although I have stuck to my diet and it goes up one week and down another it's just so frustrating 😥 ... I'm not sure what to do this plateau is driving me mad at the most 7ibs on at the least 1ib under not sure what to do so badly depressed and my boyfriend is no help by saying he loves me for the way I am when he knows I'm doing this for health reasons.....
He says my BMI is now 24.3 why not be happy but I wish to lose another stone and a half at most.
I'm keeping to 1,370 kcal a a day except on Thursday and Monday when I fast with the 5/2 diet when it has to be 500kcals or under. I'm taking empty kcal from drinks into account and putting them in my food and drink diary.
Not sure what else I can do?.....
Is anyone else in the same situation as I am or can offer me advice because I really need help, advice and some support.....

Hi, I'm no expert at all, but your calorie intake does seem awfully low for someone who is now within a healthy BMI range even if it's not as low as you'd like. I'm not speaking from experience as I'm still 2 stone above your BMI but I'm wondering if your metabolism is slowing down due to too few calories and maybe you could speed it up a bit by eating a little more and exercising a little more? I'm sure there will be other people who have been in a similar position who can give you more specific support. X
Yesterday, I checked my fitness pal account for the first time in months (since November 2014). Then I weigh 147 lbs, still overweigh but going in the right direction. Today I weigh 157 lbs.
I stopped exercise and stop watching what I was eating because just like you, I was frustrated with my weight staying the same for months. Something was wrong and I was not sure what it was.
During those lazy months, I continue to read our forum and read and learn what was going on in my body. From a body that didn't put on weigh to one where my weigh started to increase gradually.
I discovered that what I was eating was blocking my hunger hormone from working effectively. My body insulin level was spiking regular though out the day and this prevented my hunger hormone from working. You should know that I had cut out sugar from my tea for about a year and I had cut back drastically on my juice consumption, using fruit instead.
Why no improvement in my weigh gain?
1. I wasn't drinking enough water during the course of the day, 8 glasses recommended.
2. I have added eating Oatbran to my diet. I need to have at least 3 tablespoon per day. I have had to find new recipes that allow me to use Oatbran.
3. I'm eating more protein (mainly fish and chicken) plus vegetables until I reach my projected ideal weigh, 130 lbs.
I'm using the Dukan Diet, as a background to changing my habits.
I have been using yoga to re-gain my strength and stamina, three times a week. Twice a week, I either using low impact aerobic activity or beginner high impact aerobic activity. Try Grokker website, they have great videos. I like Ashleigh Sergeant yoga.
I started changing my habits about 8 weeks, I haven't seen any change in my body weigh but my waist, hips, love handles and arms have all been moving in the right directions. When I started, eight weeks ago, I couldn't see my toes. Now I have a great view.
Since, I have improved my strength and stamina, I'm planning to start the NHS couch to 5k soon.
I will as I'm determined to beat this problem. I don't want to give up as I've never quit on anything I started before I achieve what I want to achieve.
I would look at what types of exercise you're doing. You might need to shake things up in that department. If you're not already doing so weight training when done consistently can have a noticeable affect on your body composition. If you have access to free weights and are able to use them I would recommend that. Or even a body pump, kettlebell exercise class if you have those facilities at your disposal.
Also HIIT types of exercise could also be beneficial and move things in the right direction for you.
It's good to experiment with different things so your body continues to be challenged and doesn't plateau.
