As somebody who has to avoid gluten I would recommend cooking from scratch as much as possible. Try to avoid the supermarket ready made gluten free foods, as they are often full of sugar and unhealthy additives.
There is a Gluten Free site on HU, which might be helpful, if you haven't come across it already.
I have the same issue and it is really difficult to find gluten free food that is low calorie. I managed to tackle it by having lots of salads with low fat dressing. It has taken longer to lose weight but if I have half a portion of food I usually have with salad for the rest of the portion the weight comes off about a pound every week. I have the bags of apple slices as snacks. My friend is involved in Scottish slimmers and she was able to give me a book that helped as they are considering gluten free. Good luck!
There are lots of sites (a lot are American) with recipes for gluten free foods. Have a look at Glutenfree Goddess, or this one.
