Hello TheBrahmaBull1

I just looked up when Ramadan starts - very soon! I also fast but just once a year for Yom Kippur. I know it's different, as it is 25 hours and just one day, but it's also without water and can mean all you end up thinking about is feeling hungry and can easily end up overeating afterwards. In my experience I have fasted 'best' after a light meal, rather than the heavy meal my family traditionally prepares, as my digestive system is less taxed. We have traditional foods that you're expected to have, such as heavy dumplings and sticky honey cake. I know that muslims like their fried foods and sweets just as much. But these are all pretty unhealthy! The NHS healthy eating advice will help you just as much during Ramadan as during any other time, as long as you manage to politely refuse seconds of unhealthy foods, or ask for smaller portions, and fill up on healthier options instead.

I suggest as you are a teenager and as it's important to manage Ramadan well, that you try to see your GP for advice. My local doctor's surgery has leaflets for helping people stay healthy during Ramadan. In fact I just found this nhs.uk/livewell/healthyrama...

Have you also looked at the NHS 12 week weight loss plan? nhs.uk/livewell/weight-loss... - Also, check your BMI online to get an idea of how many calories you should aim for nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw...

My recommendation would be to train so that you can maintain or gain lean muscle tissue, watch the macronutrient combination of the foods you eat and google for subjects like "Training during Ramadan". Leangains is also a useful site for intermittent fasting which can be adapted to your needs I think.

Good luck with it.
