Hi all...

Does any one have a list of foods ?

What is protein ? What do you find it in ?

I need something to print off, as I tend to forget .

Hi

Protein is generally animal and animal derivatives such as milk, plus pulses such as beans and lentils. Carbohydrates are the cell structure of plants (and animals to a lesser degree).

If you go to this page it gives the information with pictures as well and you can print it too.

Also most packaged foods these days have labels with the nutritional content.

You need protein to repair the body, so it's essential. I've just done a quick trawl in my cupboard and quite a few labels mention it. As already said it's in animal products, pulses and more. We all need a "HEALTHY BALANCED DIET" with a bit less fat and sugar than we've become used to. There's plenty of good advice and that NHS link is as good as any. Good luck.

You can also use the Food Database on MyFitnessPal, it will often give you detailed nutritional content (including protein) of both processed and unprocessed foods.

It's also a good idea to not overeat protein beyond your daily requirements as excess protein is converted to sugar. There are supposedly also other issues associated with regular overconsumption of protein, like everything else it's all about getting the right balance :)
