I haven't been to Carsington for20 years. Loved it then. Had some of my best rides in the Dales. And as you say bike is non weight bearing so less likely to damage our joints. How was it to Wetton? I cant do gym work outs so tai chi is good for upper body. Not too strenuous and keeps the joints mobile, though I get numb wrists from time to time. there's a useful item on myfitnesspal about that so I'm not worried anymore.

Did you get what you wanted about rice? Being in the UK I would have thought guidelines on the packet would be ok - ish. I use 3/4 of a small thermos cup - just cos it's handy and easy. I got some smaller scales, measured out an accurate 75g and fill the cup to the same line. Like you brown rice only. Not sure the glucose in rice is a problem. There's loads more in a Mars Bars. There's sugar in ALL food, just some has more than others.

thanks yes wetton was ok bit frosty in places as for the rice i will only be having it once a week if i fancy it i,m not sure if i should be having it at this stage
