I need to lose six stones in total. It seems like a really long journey so I am starting off with a small goal of losing three stones. I have always said that the diet starts on Monday and then never kept to it. I have a good start on a Monday and by the end of the night I'm bingeing on takeout and chocolates! This has cost me two stones over three months. I'm disgusted with this habit of mine and really looking to be focused. I am posting on here today because I want to be held accountable for my actions tomorrow. Hopefully I will keep to my diet and will be a good start to my weightloss journey. Any advise or help is appreciated.

Drink more water every day. Stay hydrated. While you don't need 8 cups of water a day to stay hydrated, it'll make sure you're hydrated as well as cut down on your hunger levels and force you to get a little bit more exercise (trips to the sink, water cooler, water fountain, and bathroom). If you're a heavy soda drinker, permit yourself to only one diet soda per day, maximum. Just one extra soda each day can add 15 pounds. Recently, fizzy drinks, even diet ones, have been said to slow down metabolism.
On the 12 week plan I found that planning meals was the key. If you know whats for dinner and it's calorie counted into your daily allowance you are less likely to go for other stuff.
Don't have chocolate or whatever your weakness is in the house - mine is cheese & crisps. use smaller plates, weigh pasta, rice etc and don't get too hungry.
c25k is brilliant for exercise as well but if you haven't exercised for a while you may want to start my increasing walking distance and speed.
Good luck with your journey and once you start feeling and looking fitter that will be your motivation.
Best of luck. I too have a lot of weight to lose. I have done it (well 3 stone of it) and put it all back on. I am back dieting again now and have 10lbs off. I have cravings in the evening but deal with them by having a bowl of sugar free jelly with a meringue nest crumbled in and add some blueberries or raspberries. I know it is not very healthy but nor were the chocolate and crisps I was eating. The other thing I find good is I replace pasta/rice/potatoes with well seasoned mashed turnips. It may sound gross but I have got to quite like it! So if it is curry, bolognese or casserole I have it but with the turnip mash. The other thing I suggest is reduce your target - maybe to a stone or something. It is amazing how much better you feel with even 1 stone off. Well best of luck with it - I will be thinking of you as I try to keep dieting too!
My advice would be stop thinking of 6 stones or even 3 and being on a diet. Have a lifestyle change and you will be more likely to lose weight and keep it off. Over the last 7 months I have lost 3st 6lbs by making small changes, getting used to those then making more.
I still have Chinese, but just one a week now. If you set yourself a takeout day so you know you're getting your treat still it should help to curb your craving for them. I also have at least one bar of chocolate a day but make sure I do enough exercise to burn off the calories I have gained from it, I find this inspires me to exercise and I value the treat more.
Log everything on MyFitnessPal, making a note of what you've eaten helps keep track of how many calories you've consumed. But the basic way to lose weight is to eat less and move more. While healthier eating is important I would not have lost this much weight without exercise, I started by simply walking a mile a day and built from there. If you're not very active now I would really recommend starting slow, you don't have to dive straight into running marathons just take it easy and find what you like and go from there.

Starting today as well. It is really important not to have temptations in the house - just too easy to eat stuff you shouldn't if it is within easy reach.
Well done on starting - I know it's tough! I've so far lost 10st in the last three years. My final 2st are proving tough. I agree with other comments, break the large weight loss goal down into small chunks. Also set other goals - maybe plan something that you've always wanted to do but can't at the moment due to low fitness levels etc. Over the last couple of years I've taken up hiking, hill walking, abseiling, SCUBA diving, go-karting, skiing, snorkeling... Hi. It can be emotionally and physically challenging to get back to your fitness wagon but I know you can do it. Set your goal. Have an inspiration and choose a day to start. There’s no need to commit and try to a 2 hour daily workout just try to start with ten minutes of brisk walking and go from there. Also, establishing a good eating habits is also important.
Hi everyone, I thought that I would be posting this morning with great pride about my successful first day but that's not the case. I just want to say thanks a lot for your support. I started off really well yesterday till I got home from work and ended up having a medium pepperoni pizza and cornetto icecream all to myself
