Help guys!
Best to post on the c25k forum for advice on this but I would suggest maybe start at week 3.
Hi, I did c25k and the first time last year, like you could run 10 mins, and started on wk 5....what I found was yes I had healthy lungs, heart etc and could do it no probs but my muscles, tendons weren't use to the regular running and I ended up in lots of pain in my achilis and couldn't complete the programme, the 2nd time I did it from the beginning to ease my body and completed 2 wks ago, without any pain
I would suggest doing the programme. There are lots of ways into running and if you want to do it another way, do it. The NHS C25K just happens to be very accessible and has a great Health Unlocked forum too. It is one thing if you just want to achieve something as a one off, but if you want to build running into your life for health, then doing the full programme will develop the habits which will enable you to do so. Most of us will say that being able to run for longer is a mental discipline as much as anything (although avoiding injury is important too)
It's just the same phenomenon as wanting a quick route to weight loss.
