I'm finding it very difficult to stay away from sugary things especially chocolate and fruit juices...any motivational tips? Hope everyone is doing well today!!

Hello there I've just started the NHS weight loss plan! 10st6 at 5"2 not even 18 is not okay!
I don't buy them! I have very little willpower but if the goodies aren't in the house I can't have them. Drink water or sugar-free squash instead of fruit juice which isn't good for you at all.
Well done already!! You are young and you know you need to do something, ..for your health and your confidence. Thats far better than most of us older ones on here who have been in denial for many years!!!. You are still young enough to ' unlearn' the bad habits and your body will shrink very nicely, skin will be taut etc ....( ha, not like mine !) Dont look at this ad a diet, its a life long programme and small steps will get you results. One day at a time and if you screw up one day, just start again tomorrow. Try myfitnesspal its a great help for keeping a food diary and your food is calculated for you. Good luck. I have a daughter your age and you both deserve a long, healthy life so go for it. X
I agree with gingernut, low sugar fruit squash is a pretty good substitute for fruit juice. I live near London and our tap water is awful, so I always add squash to make it taste decent. Just be careful to check the package as some types are really high in sugar (e.g. Sainsbury's "High Juice" range). You could try having a snack of dried fruit, as that is better than just drinking the juice. My favourite are dried mango and dates at the moment. Dried fruit is fairly high in calories so be sure to weigh out your portion.
Can't really help that much with the chocolate, as I don't really eat it anyway. Perhaps try hot chocolate? I also once bought chocolate flavoured tea from Whittards that was very rich in flavour.
completely agree with below - I was in the same position as you and have managed to bring my weight down to a healthy level, and I am so much happier for it. I don't buy fruit juices etc any more as the temptation is too great, but sites like myfitnesspal are also really good as they show you just how many calories/how much sugar is really in them. I also took up running, which was really difficult at first - I had to walk after 3 minutes - but after 3 months I can now run 10 miles without stopping. Good luck! Just remember to eat enough - eating too little is dangerous, especially if you're under 18, and it can actually stop you losing weight - you need to get the right balance!

hey! me too, I'm 19 and about 10st 6 and 5"2. I'm cutting my cals to 1200 a day and trying to either walk (as I can't jog due to a dodgy ankle) or do an exercise dvd everyday. Hopefully it works!
With the regards to the chocolate addiction, weightwatchers do a hot chocolate that is only something like 50 calories a cup but is really nice so perhaps buy a few of them and save them for desperate craving times! Also, my weakness is crisps and I've moved them from right next to my room to on a high shelf in the kitchen to stop me eating so many and it has worked so far
