Hi Nickinoo,
Well you have certainly put down two very positive starts to a successful weight loss journey - certainly cycling is great exercise and eating healthily is also really good. I think it's good to set yourself a realistic weight loss goal on a weekly basis - between 1 to 2 pounds per week is a healthy weight loss rate. I find it can be helpful to plan what I'm going to eat wherever possible, and that way I don't get led astray as much.
I usually find it harder to eat out - and I've had a couple of meals out this week - so I am not sure how my weight will be for my usual Monday weigh-in, but I am hoping to eat healthily over the weekend. I shared a dessert last night, which helped keep the calories down a bit!
Hope you have a good week.

Can I suggest you watch this excellent BBC Horizon programme, "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" vimeo.com/54089463 which absolutely changed my life. I have tried so many diets over the years and always put all the weight back on again, and more, but I watched the programme, which eventually became the 5:2 Diet (excellent book by Kate Harrison) and you only need to 'diet' two non-consecutive days a week. I lost three stone in six months up to April last year and have kept it off since then. I'm slimmer and fitter now than I was when I was a teenager and it hasn't cost me anything - in fact I've saved so much money, which I needed for my new size 10 clothes!
I have lost weight by following the 12 week plan on this site and found that my eating habits and portion control are now a way of life.

I have about 7 lb to go but it is on its way. You will see from the information how to work out the target weight and aim to lose 1-2lb a week.
I always had a fairly healthy diet but too much of it so I weigh rice/pasta etc. I work out calories from a wee book called 'pocket calorie counter' but a lot of folk on this forum use an app called myfitness pal.
Other tips are use smaller plates, don't get too hungry and although I don't eat much bread I buy small loaves so the slices are smaller. Good luck on your weight loss plan.
Hunger actually goes in waves and doesn't get worse, so can be allayed by having a hot drink and distracting yourself. If you eat anything, especially carbohydrates, you'll find yourself wanting to have more.
Good luck Nickinoo. Make sure you eat good quality protein along with your veg, and avoid the 'low fat' stuff full of sugar.
There seems to be very good advice on this here, Nickinoo. My profile photo was taken last September during a cycling holiday in and around Gerona, Spain. I weighed 18.5 stone (not good in the Spanish Pyrenees) I then went up to 19 stone at Christmas (thank you, Tenerife) before realising things had to change. Since the 27th of December I joined a gym, cut out ale and ate sensibly. It's not been easy but I've shifted exactly 3 stone up to today's weigh-in. I want to lose another 2 to 3 stones if I can before a return trip to Gerona at the beginning of June. I don't know much about weight-loss but something seems to work for me. We all know what's right and what's wrong when it comes to dieting but little bits of extra advice, like what's written on this forum, help.
