Has anyone been invited for an NHS Health Check (for people aged 40-74) and taken up the invitation? If so, I'd love to hear from you and whether you feel you benefited from it. Many thanks.

NHS Health Checks - case studies needed
Hello, I had a health check in Dec, was told someone would get in contact with me as I am overweight. I rang the Gp in Jan to be told there is a backlog and someone will be in touch. I am still waiting. I was told my ferritin levels are low to normal but again no other contact. I am quite disappointed at my experience.
Similar experience to eli1, I was told that I was hovering on the obese side of weight, and I chose the diet. Someone was supposed to contact me, which they did by leaving a message on answer phone but not any contact number for me to call them.
I have since decided to go it alone, also I am now on medication for Psoriatic Arthritis that requires regular monitoring, one of which is keeping an eye on my weight. I am gradually coming down the scales slowly by myself.
Hi Georje
Have you been checked for coeliac disease? It can sometimes be linked with psoriatic arthritis.
Good luck with your weight loss.
No I haven't been checked for that, however I do have IBS-D which I believe is the same family of diseases but not quite so severe as coeliac disease. Although visits to the bathroom are similar!
The symptoms of coeliac disease can be controlled by going gluten free, thank goodness. I recommend a very informative book on dealing with digestive disorders called "Good Gut Healing" by Kathryn Marsden, if you need any help in dealing with your IBS-D.
I had the over 40 NHS health check. It was run by a private firm. 20 minutes with simple checks including weight. Insenstive to my needs and basic advice given to lose weight. Pointless. I was told a was "a bit tubby" and there was no reason I could not lose weight and it was just my attitude which needed to change. Sigh
