Hi everyone, Eating Carrot everyday is healthy?
Carrots contain caroteine - and the pilots during the last world war HAD to eat a lot of carrots for their eyesight! If carrots contain a lot of sugar - then I would rather prefer to have good eyesight than the little bit of sugar contained in carrots!
Carrots are a carby veg, good for adding 'bulk' and keeping you fuller for longer. Any carby, i.e. starchy veg, turns to sugar on digestion. It's a bit of an old wives' tale about eating lots of carrots for good eyesight. If you eat a varied diet containing lots of fresh ingredients i.e. not processed, you'll get your carotene. The risks to WWII pilots were such that they were unlikely to survive more than one 'tour' of missions and they were basically young fit guys, no need to worry about their weight! The priorities were different from now.
That's a bit like the phrase an apple a day keeps the doctor away...would not eating a carrot a day be unhealthy. No....of course carrots are healthy, like most vegetables..but this seems like a bit of a stupid question?
Carrots are really good for you. I have been told cooked carrots are better for you than raw carrots.
Carrotts contain Vitamin A, which is one of the requirements for our body to function, it makes it able for our eyes to see in the dark for example. But.. HAVING MORE THAN REQUIRED OF VITAMIN A IS TOXIC (like carrots).
